Both players are on the trade block. It is probably unlikely that we go after Simpson since we just signed leonhard/ he is in our division. But he could be a great safety.

On the other hand, Alex smith is a 27 yr old te who is a good blocker and could progress into a pass catching te. Im sure we could get him for a conditional next year.

Allows us to have more picks this year, to do other things with.

Doubt they would trade within division. I'm kinda shocked with all the activity going on up there in Buffalo wonder whats going on.

Just realized Smith is a Buccaneer not a Bill. I guess but could just as easily get someone in 6th or 7th

I think we should look into Smith. If he can be had for a sixth, or perhaps for say, Bryan Thomas straight up, I like it.

Agreed, I liked him a lot coming out of college, but we shouldn't give up anything more than that.

Bryan Thomas is more valuable to us right now with couple of our LBs gone in the FA and Bart coming in. It all depends on Gholston and I think Gholston will come through this yr to be a starter at the least. After that point, Bryan Thomas becomes replaceable.

As for Alex, maybe we can get him for a 6th or next yrs conditional 4th to 5th.

Isn't Alex Smith a pretty decent receiver as well as a good blocker?

Alex Smith is a solid TE. I wouldnt mind bringing him here at all for the right price. I liked Ko Simpson a lot coming out of college but he isnt going to be a Jet.

If we could get Alex Smith for a 6th round pick or a 2010 conditional that is no higher than a 4th, then definitely.

I'd much, much rather trade a 2nd day pick for Alex Smith than draft a TE at #17.

Heck yeah! Alex Smith is a solid blocker....a 5th or 6th would be fine with me.
