yeah, one of the best all around tight ends to come out in a long time. Very good blocker, decent speed, very good hands. Makes the offense more versatile. Improves the running game, creates more mis-matches with Keller, allows the Jets to split Keller into the slot and still have a receiving threat in the box. He could help the offense dramatically
Pettigrew could be the definition of an "unsexy" first round pick, but in the long haul it might work out well. The pats have taken two TE's in round one before. (Daniel Graham and Ben Watson) Having said that, I would much rather pick up a TE in the middle rounds.
On paper Pettigrew is a solid pick but I don't see him working out--maybe I'm just gun-shy from past failure. You do not like Maybin in rd 1? I don't see the USC boys all going by 16. Ballsy call on Detroit #1. All said, it could shake out this way.
I'm hearing Seattle likes Sanchez more than Stafford. I don't think Cinci will take Andre Smith. I don't see Robert Ayers on there he'll go in the 1st. I also don't think Freeman will go in the 1st.
I'd be okay with Pettigrew. I really would.. I don't see the Lions passing on Stafford/Sanchez. I think Andre Smith falls to the 2nd round.. Maybe something similar to Winston Justice's or Alan Branch's fall a few years back.. I think the Bills want a pass-rusher. Tyson Jackson is more of a run-stopping 3-4 DE. Harvin is going to take a huge fall on draft day and I don't think the Colts will go for a WR like Kenny Britt. Just a gut feeling there. Eben Britton is more of a RT. The Bills need a LT. Try Jamon Meredith from South Carolina or William Beatty from Connecticut. Not bad though. And I'll echo my point again, Brandon Pettigrew is definitely on my top 5 list of guys to draft at #17.
I was thinking.... Who would be the safest pick in the draft at 17? I just get the feeling it is Tyson Jackson Pettigrew isn't bad either
Almost 50% of first rounders fail to make much of an impact at the NFL. The Numbers get worse in each successive round. So the thought of a "safe" pick is flawed I agree with ya on that. To the "Not another TE in round one" peopel. Why? We have 0 depth at the position. No receiver at 17 may have a first round grade. I doubt Stafford or Sanchez falls that far. Sure I would probly go RB at that point, but the thought of picking up a monster of a blocking TE who can also catch bring a ton of potential to the offense. If we start using mroe two TE sets with a true threat on either side it more easily disguises what the offense intends to do on any given play.
To Dwalsh: Not a bad Mock. I think the Lions go QB with the #1. All reporst lately are that its Stafford or Sanchez if the Stafford deal falls through. I doubt Sanchez makes to 10 as well. Both the Seahawks and Jags have shown intrest in him. For the Bills at 11, I don't see Tyson Jackson as the best option. He is better suited to be a 3-4 end and Buffalo needs a pass rusher. Everette Brown whom you have going to Denver at 18 would be a great fit for them. With that, Jackson would be a great pick for Denver at 12 allowing them to still pick up a good Linebacker at 18. While I personally would not draft Andre Smith, some NFL GM is going to take a chance on him in the first. Good Job over all
