What we're talking about here is how we, as fan-atics, have allowed the NFL to infiltrate our lives to the point where we're even debating what we should do when a conflict arises between our team and our faith.

As a catholic, I carry around a sense of guilt during the fall and winter because I know the real truth...I'm going to TRY to make it to church this Sunday, but I'm DEFINITELY going to make it to the Stadium or the bar (I live outside the NY broadcast area) this sunday.

That's on me. My decision. The NFL, with its brilliant marketing, hasn't helped. It has become a major religion itself for most men in this country.

I think what's behind some of the negative posts here is that we non-Jews have put up with football on Christmas and football every "holy day" (Sunday), and now we see a media furor and the Jets jumping up and down to accommodate on segment of the fan base. It's a separator, the kind of thing that fuels the ideas that one group is wielding more power than another. It plays into intolerance, though it shouldn't.

That's what's really behind the negative comments.

Well, as I said, it's a personal choice. I don't blame the Tribe members for speaking out--good for you. Maybe we Catholics should jump up and down a little bit more the next time the Jets have a Christmas game. Hopefully the Jets and the NFL will be just as accommodating.

I think you made some excellent point however I think you got the solution ass backwards. The NFL should run their business and those who have religious conviction should honor it or not.

About me being "thin skinned," FU! No "rabbi" told me anything, jerk!

I'll say it again. I'm proud of Koufax and the league. They both did what was right, and they are both something to be remembered and praised. If the league didn't change the times of the games, I and many others would have to question the league's intentions.

And don't give me any Constitution lessons. I know we have freedom of religion. And I know we have freedom of speech. That's what gives the anti-Semites the right to curse Jews on this forum, which made this message board look more like Stormfront than Gang Green. And while they are bastards and cowards, I will defend their right and yours.
