I imagine it isn't that hard to cater to both teams' request.
I don't really know who's at fault there. If Tannenbaum forgot to make a request, then yeah, it's his fault. My point is that a mistake was made, that something wrong did happen, however small, as opposed to the argument that no one should care. That's all.

If it's not that hard to do and it doesn't involve other teams, then I'm sure the Jets and the League will get something done. I think if anything the best chance would be to move the Titans game to 1pm which would help the situation. The Patriots game (I guess) seems lost. There's very little they can do imo. But I'm just totally opposed to bringing other organizations to changing their schedule to please another team's fans.

See, it's funny, but it's also a very anti-semetic idea. I know it was a joke, but is that really the kind of joke we need in a conversation like this one?

If it's funny it's funny no matter how u look at it. There was no need to over-analyze it. Or is it because ItalianSeafood said it and not Sarah Silverman? Stop feeling so victimized all the time and try to find a little joy in the things that makes us all different.

The Superbowl better not fall on my Tet holiday or I'm going to be pissed.

Seriously guys, can't we stop this stuff? This is getting pretty ugly, not to mention adolescent.

Lock the thread already. (A) It doesn't belong here and (B) Arguing over religion is assinine.

    I agree with (B)
But how does a thread about JETS fans not belong in the JETS section?

and I don't think it's getting ugly. Have you read the entire thread? There is actually some good discussion.
    Heated? Yes
    Ugly? Not really

To me this isn't about religion. This is about:

    A) The Giants asked the NFL to be on the road those two weeks for obvious reasons.

    B) Did the Jets make the same request? They said they did, some reports are saying otherwise.

If they both made the request, then the Jets should be really pissed. Having two home games before those two holidays is going to really effect the crowd and the amount of money they make from 1/4 of their home games. This is obviously why the Giants made the request. And the secondary market for Jets tickets is certainly not a great marketplace.

Regardless of what the religion or holiday is, if you tell a sports team that a large portion of their fan base can't make it to 1/4 of their home games thats a disaster.

Are there really that many super Jews that are Jets fans? Really..this is stupid. If the holiday is that important, why even care about football on those days?

This country is mostly Christian, but there are always sporting events on Christmas, Easter, Good Friday, etc..

Get over it. Soon we will have muslims complaining stadiums are making the food smell too good on ramadon.(sp.)

This is America, not Nazi Germany. There is no official government decree saying that fans of certain faiths will not be allowed to attend games.

It is ENTIRELY up to the individual and their priorities. Noone is telling anyone not to go to games.

Certain people of certain faiths are choosing not to go to the games.

Also please define "large portion" of their fan base. I'm pretty sure that the NFL and the Jets would survive even if every practicing Jewish person decided not to go to those 2 games.

Some people want to make themselves and their personal beliefs more important than anyone else's. That's all this really amounts to.

Yes the NFL may have screwed up. Yet it's not the end of the world. Get over it and move on.

So we can modify the schedule for the Giants for religious religions, but we can't do it for the Jets?

Religion has no place in sports. If sports leagues catered to religion it would isolate 70% of the fan bases.

Well I just went through all of the reasons why the schedule shouldn't be modified for anyone.

I also said the NFL screwed up doing it for the Giants and not the Jets.

It happened, it's done and now it's time to move on. This should be a lesson for all sports that religion has no place in any sporting event in our country.

But you realize the Giants made the request for road games those two weeks for religious reasons?
