Getting boldin and their 2nd rounder would be ideal. I would definitely be happy if the jets could pull off something like that. The asking price for Boldin is definitely high, but i don't think Arizona will actually get that.
Boldin isn't coming to the Jets...it's nice to talk about...but he'll take one look at our QB situation and take the "Jets" off the list of trade suitors....IMO. Brace is intriguing...and defenitly would fill a need. We've all seen what happens when Jenkins gets tired/hurt...having somebody like Brace rotating in with Jenkins would be beneficial for the duration of the season. hahahahahaha!! oh man....The Canada/USA border is a little different than the US/Mexico border, my hispanic friend. We shoot first and and ask questions later  But if you do somehow squeak through.....i'm a fast runner.
thats gonna suck if we dont trade the first for a proven stud receiver who will make ratliff or clemens look like a star, and instead draft josh friggin freeman or percival harvin...
The deal makes sense. Boldin is better then most WRs in the draft...Crabtree might have a better career but who knows? It would make sense that they trade him to the AFC, and we do have better draft picks then the other contenders.
2nd rd pick this year and a conditional next year is the only deal that makes sense to me...since other teams know the Cardinals have to get rid of him the price may be less.
1st and a third would have me thinking and considering it.....just don't know if they have the cap room.
I would like to see the Jets give up their 1st and 3rd round picks in exchange for Boldin and Arizona's 2nd and 4th (or perhaps 5th) round picks. Its definitely more equitable if not doable.
I'm wondering if Boldin would require that the Jets cut Eric Smith as a condition to any trade. Not that Eric Smith isn't anything more than spare parts. Rebuilding? I most definitely don't see this as rebuilding year. One of the QB's currently on the roster is going to emerge as real NFL material. The offense is going to be good, and the defense is going to be better than good.
Wow. Why is anyone here complaining about giving up picks to acquire Boldin? Who are we going to get at 17 that's equivalent, let alone better? If you have a chance to grab proven talent in exchange for a mid-first, you do it. The question here comes down to affordability. Can we afford to pay Boldin what he's looking to make? I don't know. We discussed this in the other Boldin thread, but the following trade could work: #17 and Thomas Jones to Arizona Boldin to Jets Trading Jones frees up about $500k and takes him off the books for next season's ridiculous contract year. It gives Arizona an immediate contributor at a desperate need position and allows them to draft his future replacement. The Jets still have their #2 to grab Shonn Greene, and have the ability to address another position of need in the 3rd. The money question is this: Boldin will likely seek $7+ million per season. If we give him something in the range of 6 years, $45 million, he'll want guarantees of about $20 million. We give him a signing bonus worth $15 million, and it hits us for $2.5 million per. We add roster bonuses to 2010 and 2013/14, knowing that we may choose to prorate the first in renegotiations, and we limit his base salary number to about $3 million per season. He hits us for $5.5 million against the cap. We sign Leon to an extension which preserves his base salary for this season, extends him at 6 years, $25 million, but give him a $10 million signing bonus. He then counts for $2 million against the cap this season. We have $4.5 million left for our rookies and UDFAs, which is way more than enough without a 1st rounder. I doubt we swing a trade for Boldin, but I'd love to see him here.
He won't have to. Eric Smith is low round trade bait right now at best and will be a roster cut either way.
Rich Kotite...Is that YOU?!??!?!? 17, AND JONES....ayfkm? :rofl2: The reason Boldin is on the block is because Arizona does not want to pay him, and NEEDS to trade him to avoid losing him for nothing. They are the Motivated seller. You DO NOT overpay to the guy that NEEDS to sell.
Oh give me a break. You aren't getting him on the cheap, like 5 teams want him badly. he's got a big market.
