Dude, I explained it already. Don't you care enough to read the whole thread?

Yom Kippur starts sundown on Sunday and lasts until sundown on Monday. If the game were at 1 o'clock, it would give fans sufficient time to get home, get dressed, and get to synagogue, even if it means leaving a little early. A 4 o'clock start means we can't go to the game at all.

Okay, so you're out of church by, say, 1 o'clock? And even a night game Christmas eve wouldn't interfere with religious celebrations? Okay, so how are these at all similar?

Everyone going off on religion must not have read the article.

This is about the Jets requesting the days to be away games and the league screwing up and not scheduling them as away.

Religion being the reason for the request is really secondary.

If they had requested away games due to some other event and the league screwed up I am sure the thread would be more about how the league screwed up.

Instead it devolves into a my religion is better than your religion discussion.

I guess this is why discussions about religion are not supposed to be allowed.

Did I say they were similar?

This thread is turning into a microcosm of what usually occurs with jews:

    1. A slanderous charge is made against them
    2. Peaceful people begin to question why the jews are acting that way
    3. Peaceful jews try therir best to explain their religion and practices in a paragraph or less
    4. The not so peaceful people misinterpret and take out of context whatever the jew was trying to say
    5. Some righteous non-jews attempt to educate their brethren who begin turning on anyone who has anything positive to say about jews
    6. A pogram begins whereby jews are demonized and all bad things are attributed to them
    7. Eventually, after much suffering, a shaky peace is restored
    8. Wait six months and repeat

I'd say we're in stage 5 now approaching stage 6.

Are you really enough of a dickhead to point out that I said TYPICAL, implying the majority of the time and still criticize my post?

For fucks sake, you have to go to church? So what? Going to temple isn't even what I was talking about (even though again theres a different degree). Theres much much more involved.

What the fuck is wrong with people? I specifically triedto not come off hostile, but you have to come in and be a dick.

LOL, if you can't make the game either sell the tickets or eat the loss. It's just a game and it's not like there aren't any other fans who want to see the game.

Just trying to lighten it up Yisman. I am in no way knocking anyone's religion, just got angry watching everyone try to make their day seem more important.

It is all a learning process. For me, in the end, if changing the time helps others, so be it, I can watch the game at one or four.

Maybe you should re-read your post then. Adn yeah,i have to go to church...I also never complained about it. The point being what you have to do that day should not fuck it up for everyone else.

I say we all build a sukkoh for our season of rejoicing after 40 years of the Jets wandering aimlessly in the desert that is our NFL.

Can't we all just get along.

who complained about having to go to synagogue on Yom Kippur? I'm confused.

The posts here were statements of fact about what Jews do on their holy days. Jets made a request and the NFL ignored it.

The funny thing is, your post is spot on. For most of us, the Jets are our religion.
