It depends what we have to give away... if it's a first and a second I'd be ok... anything more no. The point is on one hand I think we should stick with our QB's and give them a chance... on the other hand I think he is the real deal. All in all whatever happens I'm fine... as long as we DON'T DRAFT FREEMAN!!!! Every Year there is at least 1 bum QB taken in the first round... and this year I think it's pretty obvious which one it is. One possibility is that Freeman made the mistakes he made at Kansas state because the coaching sucked... the other one is that he isn't as talented as some people think he is. I'd much rather go with Bomar in the 4 than Freeman in the 1st...
There's a Joe Namath quality about this kid that I like. He's charismatic, talented, and CONFIDENT. He talks a big game, and I can definitely see him leading this entire team. We need a QB who inspires confidence, not a whiny bitch.
When has Parcells ever considered QB that high of a priority? When he was in New England, I had the feeling that Bledsoe was forced on him, because the main reason he left was because he couldn't choose his players. I would say Chad, but junc will argue to the death that the 2000 draft was all Groh. Aside from those 2 questions, he has always gone with veteran types, free agents for the most part. I don't see him changing his ways this late in the game. If Henne is at all servicable, I think he replaces Chad.
Absolutely. I really like Bomar. I hope we stick to the quarterbacks we have, and if it doesn't work out this year, go back to the drawing board next year either in free agency or in the draft. I love the idea of getting Bomar in the 4th. I have read some interviews with him, seems like he matured since Oklahoma, but not a lot of people are talking about him. The lack of talent he played against and the NCAA infraction still haunts him. I hope we don't go quarterback in the first, and i definitely hope we don't draft Sanchez. Don't know if you've seen this or not : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP-iz1_rzfE Check it out, pretty interesting .
They can make an article out of just about anything. "I think the Jets liked me" Newspaper begins speculation that Jets will move up. And repeat for any player visiting the Jets
i know this isnt the thread for it...but im from albany and im looking for 4 tickets for our home opener vs the patriots...do you guys know the best/cheapest way to get tickets?...thanks
Phil Simms. The guy he made his bones with. He's been trying to find that guy again ever since and coming up short.
Great example. Simms was already on the team for 3 seasons when Parcells was promoted to HC, and the first thing he did was bench Simms.
Parcells didn't draft Simms and replaced him as the starter when he became head coach. In was only due to the ineptitude of the other QBs on the roster that Simms got back in. Simms then performed at a level at which Parcells had to leave him in and they eventually won 2 SBs.
Does anyone else find it interesting that over the last week there seems to be this large public relations blitz for Sanchez. It looks like he's talked to every talk show host in the NY city area. On Mike and Mike this morning, Greenie was gushing over him and how the Jets need to trade up to get this kid. He was saying what a great leader he is, how he can make all the throws and how strong his arm is and what a great decision maker he is. How all the experts think he is a natural because he played in a pro offensive so his transistion will be easy to the pro game... Then Goalic pointed out that in his very short college career he was very rarely under any pressure and in most case , even when his receiver ran the wrong route, they were wide open.. Then he agreed that the kid has potenial and tried not to burst Greenie's bubble. I don't like how this whole deal is playing out I sure as hell don't want to trade up and reach for another young unproven QB, who will cost not only picks, but a ton of cash to get signed. We already have three young slingers, to add another makes no sence at all and if you factor in the cost of making that commitment then it becomes insane. If Sanchez does fall to 17, which looks quite doubtful with the way his PR machine is working and churning out the propaganda. Well, if he did fall to the Jets then we need to deal that pick to fill some of the holes we have on this club and create depth. Yet, in no way should the Jets trade away any picks from this years draft or next, to move up for a very unproven PROSPECT who will sit on the bench for two years anyway....
Nothing wrong with a new HC building a team around his QB. I don't think it matters how many unproven arms we have on the team. What matters is who the HC believes in, feels he can develop and go to war with. If he loves what one of the guys has that's in the draft we should do what it takes to get him on the roster.
I'd be highly in favor of trading down for Mark. If they can pick up another 1st rounder while trading down, even better. Eh, what? trading up? Are you NUTS? What for? Cutler, then Quinn then now, Mark Sanchez?
If I were the Jets, I would move up and take him. Absolutely. And I believe that is just what they will do. He has every quality you would want in a franchise QB, and the Jets need one more than ever. And if (and when) they get him, that doesn't mean that Ratliff won't play. It just means that the Jets will know they have the future sitting and learning.
Does anyone remember what happened the last time a USC quarterback thought he impressed the New York Jets? We got to watch reaction shots of him for the next five picks after we passed on him in the draft.
