I'm not a rocket scientist, but hasn't this been mentioned in about a million other threads? Maybe we just need to have a big-ass thread where you mention anything about our QB situation and another one where you talk about whatever free agent we need to sign this week. There already is a whole forum dedicated to the draft, not sure why this is in here. I think I'll start a thread entitled "The Jets should try to win more games".
Hey tomdeb,so have you been living under a rock this offseason or are you just ignoring the other 10,000 start Clemens/Ratliff threads.
I think everyone should just check with you before starting or commenting on a thread--you obviously have all the answers.
If they lose Sanchez, I would not go for Freeman, and I would wait till next season to possibly draft a QB. But I think Mark Sanchez is a Jet.
I think they should draft somebody at 17. But I am not sure it should be a QB. But definitely draft someone........
I think the coaching staff and front office should implement a strategy that gives the team the best chance to win now and in the future. I know the guys that spend 15 minutes a day catching up on the NFL are more qualified to come up with the strategy, but I suspect that the guys that work 18 hours a day might have a little edge on whats best.
Listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they had a draft guy on who said that Jets could trade up to Jacksonville's spot at #8 if they surrender #17, plus their 2nd and 4th round picks. No thanks. I would rather draft 3 players to bolster the defense line, secondary and offensive line and take a chance with our young QBs. Sanchez would not play this year anyway. If our young QBs stink, we'll be picking in the Top 10 next year (with a chance for Tebow) and we would still have the benefit of the 3 players we selected with our current #1, round 2 and round 4 picks. Hopefully, Jets are just smokescreening interest in QBs to gain leverage.
Tim Tebow will not be a good NFL quaterback. McCoy or Bradford would be the best choice next year. I don't think we should trade the farm for Sanchez. If he's available at #17 I wouldn't be against it, but there are other senario's I would prefer.
No thanks. Pat White = Brad Smith v2.0 He'll be great for a team that needs that "jack of all trades" type guy, but not a good fit for the Jets.
You mean they shouldn't just let the clock run out and pass on the pick? Didn't someone do that once? Run out of time? I want to say Minnesota but maybe not.
Even funnier would be if we decided to not only let the clock run out and skip our draft pick, but we decided to return a shitty/bust player we already have back into the draft as a general donation. Kinda like those Veterans' Association trucks that come by and pick up clothes you want to donate to charity. Possibly a tax write-off?
Yeah, it was Minny, but they wound up with Kevin Williams, so you can't give them too much grief. LOVE the idea of taking someone with the #17 pick. The logic for taking someone is spot on.
I don't know how I would feel about trading up for Sanchez, but I like the idea of building on the lines and going defense.
If Sanchez turns out to be a pro bowl QB, no one will care about the 2nd and 4th given up to get him. If they are going to do that though they better be right or else they will pay for it with their jobs. I'd love to see the Jets show some balls when it comes to the QB position. Go up and get the guy you are convinced can become the franchise QB that this team has lacked for what seems like forever.
What happens, they lose the pick or move down a spot? Was Mike Tice involved in that? He always struck me as a big dummy, the pencil in his ear didn't help.
And if he turns out to be Akili Smith the same people bitching if we don't get him will be bitching that we did and gave up picks to do it.
