I agree. I like the thought of drafting a solid MLB in the middle rounds much more than an OLB like Clay Matthews in the early rounds. There are plenty of solid MLBs that will be around in round 3-4. We have no depth, and not as much money invested in the MLB core. Bryan Thomas and Gholston (as of now) are just killing us though
Cushing has been juicing since his high school days at BC. On a side note, what does everyone think the odds are that TJ is dealt somehow on draft day? I think it's a strong possibility.
i would be very happy with that draft, but i don't know if they pick all offense with the first 3 picks, but who knows. nontheless i would be satisfied with those picks.
Its similar to the ravens draft last year. Getting the Big armed QB in the second half of the first round. I think tahts why so many mock drafters are jumping on it. Taht said I don't see Freeman as the talent Flacco is and he's the type of guy that is going to need some time to develop. I could see us going in several other driections with this pick.
I understand the Freeman pick perfectly, it's right about where he should get drafted in the round and the Jets don't have a legitimate QB, I can't imagine that they would pass on him to be honest, now someone might trade up and take away the possibility, but if you don't have a Qb how do you pass on Freeman?
Simple, if you don't think he's good value at 17, or if you simply don't think he's that good, then you don't pick him. He's got talent, but we have Clemens that we spent a 2nd rounder, and we have no idea how good he is. And if the team thinks Ratliff is that good, he should deserve a chance to prove himself, too. Freeman's starting to grow on me at 17 because the physical tools are all there, but I don't want him starting in 2009 (unless he's too good not to bench him). At least Clemens and Ratliff can get a chance there, and then you can move one a la Brees and the Chargers. But there's a damn good chance that Freeman never becomes an NFL starting quarterback, and that is scary.
I personally don't like Freeman. Sure he's got a big arm & size, but he's inconsistant & he doesn't have good accuracy. I think it would take 2-3 years to develop him. That's to much of risk for me.
Love the first 2 rounds right there. I haven't watched much of Heyward-bey but the guy looks like a freak from what I have seen and I would take him over Maclin. Donald Brown is a stud and as long as the Huskies didn't run him into the ground the last couple years he will be an unbelievable backup for TJ. Wouldn't mind them taking a flier on Chase Daniels too. Where did you find that mock draft? I haven't seen anything that resembles that at all.
