This is a stupid question. Take the #1 WR for a 2nd round pick. It's a steal for where we pick. Too bad it will never happen.
I agree with ocho cinco being insane. I saw an interview with him, there is just a screw loose in there somewhere.
I always liked Chad Johnson, he's funny, and a hell of a player when motivated. I'd take #85. We would be lucky to have a receiver of that caliber on this team.
If we had to trade a 2nd for one of them I would take the potential of Austin over the overrated Johnson easily. With that said we have been burned too many times in the past with this kind of move to get excited about it and would rather hold on to the draft pick. I do like Austins potential though, a lot and want no part of Johnson.
I dont know what the deal is with chad johnson but I wouldnt mind bringing him in, a vet like "ocho cinco" would be great if he could control his attitude, I mean I like show boats as long he doesnt get on his own teams nerves, then we can us our first for a running back, ohhhh man Im getting ahead of myself, sorry.
ocho cinco and our qbs? no thanks. the last thing either clemens or ratty need is some ego-maniac in their ear after every play while they are trying to develop. so while im not big on either move i would choose austin.
Neither. The reflex as long suffering Jets fans is to go for the quick fix, and as we saw with Favre, that's the first impulse of this franchise's management, and why we haven't won anything significant in years. Chad Johnson is 31 years old and angling for a new contract and Miles Austin is as accomplished as the kids who are several years younger coming out of college. The Jets need a long term plan to win consistently, not a quick fix solution to the detriment of the team. -X-
How is he as accomplished as the kids who have yet to play a down of football in the NFL? Austin has shown potential in the actual pro league called the NFL. He has everything we are looking for in a receiver, kinda makes sense to me. Johnson is overrated and old. That would be worse then our recent move, when we went after, Favre.
I'd go with miles with this 2nd in a heartbeat. He is young and has more experience in the nfl then a 2nd round pick does. Do you think the jets can get a wr at his level in the 2nd round? I'm not saying he's super stud but he does look solid. He has felt the nfl pressure and speed. If the Jets have decided to go WR in the draft tho this might be a moot point. I'm against Ocho because he might cause undue pressure on RATLIFF. The jets don't want a headache. (I hope)
I'd give a low pick for Ocho Cinco. I sure as hell wouldn't give a 2nd. Personally, I wouldn't have even been looking at Miles Austin, but the fact that our FO seems to see something in him at least makes me wonder whether he could pan out in the league. Personally, now that it's been announced Braylon's on the block for a 1st, that's the deal I'd want to do. Barring that, the ideal situation would be to try to trade down in the 1st a few spots and grab Kenny Britt.
Chad would be cool, I think he would open things up for Cotchery the way he did for Housh And with our defense performing and our run game clicking, we'd probably win a fair share of games so I don't think Chad would be a distraction
i really like miles austins upside...good size, good speed, and really young with nothing but time to get better, but i will say a 2nd rounder is a little steep
I say we keep the pick, But if we were taking one I say Miles. This team does not need a head case. Let Rex get this team rolling before we make any crazy " This player is going to take us to the top trades"
giving up a second rounder for either one would go down in Jets history as an all-time blunder. Second round picks are very valuable. I'd prefer we not trade our second rounders at all, but especially not for players like that.
1) Yes I do think we can get a wide receiver in the second round at his "level", who will put up 13 catches a season, and showed signs of being able to create separation and show signs of being able to show good hands 2) No one has said anything about getting a wide receiver in the 2nd round, for all you know, Maclin could slide to us with the number 17 pick, who knows? But with a second rounder, you give yourself an opportunity to trade up, trade down to pick up more picks, or stay in the 2nd round to pick up the BPA. Its the flexibility of a second rounder to address guys who could help other areas of your team that is valuable. 3) Like you said, he is no superstar and the only level he is at RIGHT NOW is a guy who had little production in Dallas, was a project player, punt returner and a #3-4 option. At this point, you haven't seen him in green and white scoring touchdowns, so he's just as unpredictable as a guy coming out of college, who will develop and learn a new system and get use to the playing speed in training camp against our defense.
