I find it interedsting that we have a D coach coming in and nothing consistent regarding a big D player in the first 2 rounds I like how it is a consistent projection for Shady in 2, that would make my draft
not an online one but Sporting news one is 1st. Britt 2nd Clay Matthews (Pace, Gholston, and Thomas say hi) 3rd DeAngelo Smith CB, Cincinnati National Football Post/Yahoo 1st Clay Matthews (listed as a defensive end) 2nd Brian Robiske 3rd Trevor Canfield G, Cincinnati
If we got rid of Bryan Thomas, I could support Clay Matthews in the 1st. But there's just too much money in that linebacking core to invest another first round pick into it.. Oh, and Clay Matthews in the 2nd is ridiculous. I have him pegged as a Saint with the 14th overall selection in my recent mock draft.
Mathew's and the Juice could be the cause for the slide, although I would love Raji and the Pot at 17
I like the idea of bringing in McCoy, especially if TJ keeps going down this path (was it he who said that he'd only welcome guys who decided to come in to camp and during workout during the offseason when he was talking about Favre or was that Rhodes?). Either way we definitely need another HB and McCoy would be my favorite replacement for him in this draft.
From the receiver stand point they have us taking either Maclin or Harvin and RB they got us takin either Moreno or Wells.
Rhodes.. I like those possible scenario's, except, Clay Matthews. That pick wouldn't make much sense to me.
How do people have us grabbing Maclin at 17?? i see absoulutely no way that he drops out of the top 10, let alone falls all the way to 17. Seems a little unrealistic, but i suppose you never know.
Everything I have read says Mathews and Cushing, and I have not seen Maulaga mentioned whatsoever. After doing more research there is not a lot of clarity as to whether they tested positive or if it was just a rumour, I am sure we will find out on draft day
I really don't like the idea of drafting a defensive guy in the 1st round unless we trade up from our 2nd round slot in addition to keeping #17. I think we need a playmaker on offense and there really are some good ones going to be sitting there at 17. Knowshon might be the BPA at this point and if we drafted him then traded Thomas Jones and that 2nd rounder for a late 1st rounder, we could get someone else, maybe even a WR to add to our new RB. Random thought tho..
This is a bad draft for the 1st round, if we could just get another 2 I would be happy, get the hell out of 17 and get into the early 2nd
The leaked "reports" on Matthews, Cushing and Raji from the combine have been disputed by the players and the NFL. They appear to be false reports but no idea by whom. Perhaps teams hoping for them to fall or competing player agents.
Mock from another site Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut Travis Beckum, TE, Wisconsin Brandon Long, DE, Michigan State Jerraud Powers, CB, Auburn Chase Daniel, QB, Missouri
That would make me puke. Not great straight line speed, no power. The guy runs sideways. You do that in high school. You do that when you're just plain faster than the defender. THAT DOES NOT WORK IN THE NFL. Hell, let's say it does. Let's say McCoy is actually all he's hyped up to be. McCoy - Washington? Two scat backs? Why the hell would the Jets draft him? The Jets want to play power football and they don't have a power back, but they do have a damn fine scat back already on the roster, so they draft . . . LeSean McCoy? What?
Someone posted an article in a previous thread stating that those allegations and drug tests were false, and that Cushing and Matthews did not test positive for steroids and Raji did not test positive for Marijuana. I think the allegations were made up by Sports Illustrated (Not positive, but I think that was the source that made it up).
Were not trading Thomas Jones. It just isn't going to happen. We'll work something out. Thomas Jones is a good guy, who is consistent and well respected on the Jets roster. Not to mention, he was the AFC's leading rusher, and his offensive line is still there. He has shown no signs of slowing down or on his age. We'll grab a running back for sure in the draft, but the thought of trading Jones just isn't going to happen. The FO will work something out I think.
