Exactly. Most people ignore this because he is a joke of a receiver, but he was real valuable as a blocker. If he is still a good blocker, I say being him in. He will be very cheap, and if nothing else, can be competition in training camp. You lose absolutely nothing by bringing him in, unless he can't block anymore either. Remember, there is only one TE on the roster (not lncluding LS Dearth).
Ooops - missed that. Oh well, it did make some good debate! I just hope we don't draft one in the first round again this year.
I know he's not a great blocker else he'd be starting. But the only reason he is still on the roster is becuase he can block, just not great. Im pretty sure he can block much better than Mr. Butterfingers, why not just utilize him? I get the point of getting 3 TEs, but Hunter would be a better option if the only thing we need out of him is blocking. Anyways, I just can't stand him in Jets uniform again.
why bother bringing him back when we can use a OT to block. Becht provides the same pass catching value as a tackle anyway....
I would have loved for the Jets to bring Stone-Hands back to the Jets because he's a really good run blocking TE but I wont cry over spilt-milk. I'm against drafting a TE in the 1st round because I would rather go QB/WR/RB and maybe even DE before we draft a "Run blocking TE" Anyone know of any solid run blocking TE's who we could draft in say...The 4th or 5th rounds?
Bear Pascoe. He'll be there in the late rounds and he has an old school name which makes me biased. i see him as this drafts Kevin Boss/Ben Patrick.
As Abyz said, Becht signed with the Cards. But since we only have one TE on the roster, it is worth further discussion. I can't see moving Hunter over, primarily because he's a backup on a line that is severely lacking depth. Why risk him to injury? I'd rather bring Bubba back before I'd do that. I think they will be tagerting a TE in the later rounds of the draft, and work on Kellers blocking. Then, I imagine they will look for cuts after the draft and training camp for vetern depth.
