A punting we will go... Kevin Huber, one of the top-rated punters in this year's draft, worked out with the Jets, according to profootballtalk. The 6-1, 220-pound Huber averaged 44.9 yards per kick last season at the University of Cincinnati and 46.3 yards per kick his junior season. He's known for having a big leg but, according to nfldraftscout.com, he has a "slow three-step delivery (1.35 seconds)." ~ Additionally, the Dayton Daily News writes that Liberty RB Rashad Jennings, who had standout performances in the Senior Bowl and then at the Combine, recently worked out for the Jets. The 6-1, 231-pound Jennings (4.67 40 at the Combine) has had some weight issues over the years but he put up some big numbers in college. From nfldraftscout.com: "In 2008, the Big South Conference Player of the Year became just the second player in league history to become a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the FCS ranks. The consensus All-American collected a school and league single-season record 1,500 yards, setting Big South annual marks with 263 carries (5.7 avg.) and 17 touchdowns.Jennings pulled down 24 passes for 190 yards and two scores, ranking sixth in the nation with an average of 10.36 points scored per game. He also led the Big South and ranked 16th nationally, as he averaged 153.64 all-purpose yards per game, setting another league record with an average of 136.36 yards per game rushing." UPDATE as I'm adding this: The Jets are also expected to attend Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew's private on-campus workout Friday afternoon, according to Tony Pauline of tfydraft.com and si.com. > i " borrowed " this from another fan site . _________________________ > http://www.thecure.com/default.aspx
I'm happy about Jennings and Huber (actually I'm just happy we are working out a punter, I don't know who he is). About Pettigrew I'm unsure... I think we are just doing our homework since he is the best TE in the draft... but I'm sick of TE's coming to NY in rd1
I actually saw Kevin Huber a couple of times this season, and the guy doesn't look like a punter, like those stats show, he has a good boot on him, but you could probably use him in a blocking formation lol, he is a tough guy. Wouldn't mind taking a look at him in the later rounds, i always thought that a punter was under rated, pinning the opposition within there own twenty is such a advantage to your defense. He has the ability to punt the ball over 50 yards, his longest is 51 yards against Western Michigan back in 2007. Agreed with you Mambo on not taking a TE in the first or second really, Jared Cook might be available in the 3rd, so wouldn't mind seeing us take him.
Jared Cook can be a riser on draft day. I can see alot of teams buying into his size, speed, and hands. He may jump into the the early second round.
I fucking hate the Cure... I'm all for drafting a decent punter, let the two have it out in camp and if we cut him, it's only a 6th or 7th round pick, no biggy.
I'm happy to see they're looking at Jennings. I'm hoping we can pick up a large/strong back in the draft to offset the speed and elusiveness of LW. Edit: I hate the Cure too
If the Jets are looking for a big back, lets go with Shunn Green with our 2nd pick. Round 1- WR Round 2- RB Shunn Green Round 3- DE Round 4- NT Round 5- TE
Really? This year? If thats the case... RD 1-WR (Thats if Sanchez is off the board, which he will be) RD 2-RB- Shonn Greene RD 3-DE RD 3-NT RD 4-O-Line RD 4-OLB (You can never have enough LB's in a 3-4) With that...We could walk away with a playmaker WR (Hope it's Harvin), We could walk away with a power back in Greene who can spell Thomas Jones and Leon Washington while being ready to step into a starting role if either Jones or Leon gets injured. We could draft a 3-4 DE during the 3rd round to spell Coleman and Ellis and MAYBE even be their potential replacement within the near future. We could draft a strong 3-4 NT to spell Jenkins with our 2nd pick in the 3rd round And with two picks in the 4th round...O-Line would have to be one of them and we could find a talented LB there also.
...jesus h. christ Seriously? C'mon, I know you're not the brightest guy...but c'mon. We traded a 3rd for Favre...remember?
On second thought, the only thing I might disagree with is WR in the first. If the BPA happens to be someone that could fill a different need, we might be better off going that way and waiting on a WR.
That's different than something I had read somewhere else that had us with two 3rd's and two 4th's. Did we trade some of our picks or was I just reading bad info?
The ones that we lost are: 3rd round pick to Green Bay for Favre 4th Round pick to New Orleans for Vilma 5th Round pick to Philli for Lito Shephard Ones we got: 3rd round pick from New Orleans for Vilma 4th round pick from Washington for Kendall * Obviously the person you got your info from added the ones we got but forgot to take away the picks we gave away.
Yeah, I hope we wait until the end of day two for a TE. Here's the kind of guy I hope we take: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/502707 He's incredibly strong, comes from a family of athletes. Seems like the perfect complement to Keller. I like this from his scouting report:
There was an interview with Charlie Casserly on NFL.com in which he said that in the lower rounds (4,5,6,7) no matter what your needs are you take BPA because otherwise you are just throwing a pick... I agree with that. So let's get WR/DE/RB in ther first three rounds and then BPA in 4 6 7. I'm hoping we are doing some trading down in round 1 and trading up in round 2.... this way our 6 can maybe become a 5...
Hi Kelly. The Cure RULE some minor circle of Hades. On a good day. Otherwise, nice rack, keep em coming. Did you know theres a minor debate over the plumbing going on in the TT forum?
