You never pass over a top prospect because he smoked weed, never. Hearing this news just gives me flashbacks to the Warren Sapp draft. I don't see any way he gets past GB if he even makes it that far. I am all about the offense for the Jets but would have to think long and hard if he somehow makes it to 17 and there isn't a QB available.
well if B.J. Raji is hanging out at #17, you seriously have to do one of two things. You either take him and run like hell, or you trade that pick for a shit load of picks +1. Kind of like what baltimore did last year when the Jags came a knocking trying to move up for Derrick Harvey. Personally short of a 3-4 pick theivery for Raji, I think he is flat out worth more to us anyways, so I would take him. Of course, any of the draftniks know if he could project to a 3-4 end? I remember there was plenty of speculation that last year Dorsey and Ellis didnt, so we needed to not pick them cuz we had jenkins. Can you imagine the flexibility if he could play 3-4 end as well? I mean throw him and Jenkins inside in some 4-3 sets, who the hell you gonna block? thats just evil, just the way we like it baby!!!
I still think he's going to the Bengals with the 6th pick.. I don't think this will effect his stock too much
he has the size of a NT in the 3-4, and he could be explosive enough to spell the DEs when needed in his rookie season. He's a pocket pusher for sure, and at the Goal Line him and Jenkins won't be moved. if him and Jenkins are on the field at the same time, me and you could play LB and create pressure from the inside.
I was actually thinking about it a bit and it might actually be better (if by some miracle we get Raji) if we shift Jenkins outside when Raji rotates in; Jinx has more of the height you're looking for in a 3-4 DE, while Raji is more squat at 6'1". Of course either way, no RB's running up the gut on them, just something I thought of.
I don't know if you guys remember, I posted a thread a month ago about a scout claiming there was a player at the top of the draft that is dumber than a "box of rocks"..........I think we found our person. He did have academic problems last year.
well it is possible, but I have seen a few of his interviews with him and the NFLN guys, he seemed competant, I mean he could speak in fluent sentences and whatnot, unlike some pro's, who make you wonder how they managed to not be academically ineligible.
IF HE FALLS TO 17 WE DRAFT HIM AND DONT LOOK BACK! I REPEAT! IF HE FALLS TO 17 WE DRAFT HIM AND DONT LOOK BACK!
This is not one of those positions in which I'd have problems with a dumbass. I refuse to consider the possibility of Raji being available at #17. Far too much disappointment when Cincinnati picks him up. If they pass...I might start thinking about it.
Some of you guys are crazy. Dropping out of top 15, and possibly the first round? Dude is a stud, best DT prospect in a long time. (Much much better then Dorsey, Okeye, etc). Most people knew he smoked weed, and he still dominates. He destroyed every offensive line man at the combine in 1on1 drills ( Mack held him the best, and he even didn't do to well). He is a stud, and will be one in the league.
Hey, if by some chance he made it to #17, move Kris Jenkins out to DE and put Raji at the nose. Now THAT would be one hell of a defensive line..\ Not that I think he gets out of the top 10 anyway... And if it Seattle didn't acquire Cory Redding from Detroit, I think he would have been their pick at #4..
You Don't move a Pop Bowl NT out for a rookie. Raji would Spell Jenkins and possibly get some time at end or DT in a 4 lineman set. Jenkins would be staying put in his position though. I agree that he will not fall out of the top ten. He's jsut too big and too good to fall that far.
Who cares if a player smokes some weed. They caught Ellis and it doesn't seem to me as he is that bad a player. If you smoke a 1000 joints a week that's a problem... if you smoke once in a while (example: one a month) then who cares. BJ Raji is not falling to 17 unfortunately... if he does man we have to get him
Mangini would have ruined Raji by trying to make him into a two gapping NT like NE prefers, he's prolly a little too weak for that. But Rex is the kind of coach who would find a way to get Raji double digit sacks for years on end.
If he falls to 12 Denver wont let him get past. Whether they want to draft a QB or not they have no NT and are switching to a 3-4 defense.
he absolutely will not. At his proday, and even at the combine, some GM's said he was one of the most impressive and dominant DT's the draft has seen in years. He won't slip out of the top 15, and definitely not the first round. The steroids issue with Matthews and Cushing is much worse in hurting their draft stock.
