How many picks does it allow you to take, there could be potentially 5-6 first round QB's next season. If my your accounts we fall flat on our face with our QB's and go around 3-13-4-12 we can pick up one of the better ones.

Not many teams have depth these days. I believe a QB of Cutler's status is worth going the extra mile for. I think the D is going to be very good this year and Cutler could have put us over the top. Now we may throw another season away trying to find a QB. You guys all say we may have a good QB on our roster but we may also have 3 QBs that completely suck.

At least we get to cover our asses this way, if we do have a good QB, excellent, problem solved. If we don't we still have the means to get one, if we over estimate the worth of these picks, your under estimate the worth of these picks, do you realize just how good the 2010 draft class will be?? Take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Do you watch football, Orton won the competition over Grossman. Orton isn't great, but he isn't terrible either, and he will win any competition with Chris Simms.

It has been like that all day.

MBG, complete respect for you over the past 24 hours, you wanted Cutler, but you also realize it's not the end of the world, and the price was too steep. Mad respect for you

Let me ask this... how many times do we have to keep taking a 2 steps back to make one step forward, since this seems to be the company line. But if my math is right, and we're taking 2 steps back to take one step forward every year... we are taking more steps backwards than forwards.

At least Orton has something to work with now, good pass protection, and some good receivers.

Well as i don't see us taking two steps back i can't answer that question. We are not taking two steps back, we are just taking one educated step forward.

thanks man...but I just want to see the Jets be successful. Cutler was the guy that would've put us over the top, I'll never back down from that.....but selling the farm...including the sheep and goats to get him....is just stupid.

At some point...the depth of our team becomes a concern...and that can't be sacrificed for any player....even a franchise QB....just my .02.

    with what? Clemens?

we have stood still in the midst of this trade. The steps forward can be taken in the draft.

The step forward was giving our own guys a chance to prove themselves well recognizing the need to use the draft to add key needs and depth. That's not standing still, that's progress IMO

Do You Really Think Ryan, Tannenbaum & Co. Were Lying?

After all, Rex Ryan did say he wasn't in agreement with the meme that the NYJs were in trouble at QB. Even Woody chimed in.

You guys all thought that was a smoke screen -- they didn't really mean it?

Look, Mike Tannenbaum needed to take a bona fide look at the Cost of Cutler, no doubt about it -- in spite of all the misgivings (that really bothered a lot of us).

But why should the NYJs change their strategic direction with another gunslinger and mortgage their draft, maybe even give up somebody they really couldn't afford to lose...all for a quarterback.

Well they got three to fight it out, while Rex Ryan builds up the rest of the team just as he said he would.

    I like it.

yes, it can be. There is that chance that one can emerge. Hopefully so too since they are here. But the percentages are rather thin. That's the shitty part about it.

A QB must come to this team somehow. A true leader who is a 2 minute drill specialist and gets the job done. doesn't need Drew Brees' stats but needs to be highly effective and clutch as hell. A playmaker if you will.

I wish that day will come - then this arguing goes away.

You and me both, lets hope it's sooner rather than later. Cutler is not here, and i think all the pros and cons possible have been debated on this board to the absolute extreme. Now lets see if we have something in Clemens or Ratliff and if not lets take it from there.

No such thing as "too much" for not having an adequate QB twice every 20 F'Ng years.
