Wow, what a stupid thing to do. Very reminiscent of Antaaj Hawthorne (sp?). I wonder how far he'll drop. There always seems to be one big DT in every draft that has something occur to them before the draft that hurts their draft stock immensely--Hawthorne, Alan Branch, Gabe Wastson, maybe that will be Raji this year.
I actually predicted this last week (elsewhere) and WW85 will confirm it Last week PFT reported that some highly regarded prospects failed a drug test, but named no names My immediate response was ... "I'm betting it was BJ Raji ... he just strikes me as the kind of guy who likes to fire up an occasional blunt" That was my immediate gut reaction when I first heard about some failed tests last week But now that we know it was Raji, what to do if he slides to 17? This kid is a beast and beastly/athletic NT's are not easy to find So if he slides to 17, do we take him or do we pass? Hmmm, shades of Warren Sapp for those who are old enough to recall that draft class
I think he is. This is serious and it's not a one time occurrence. He might slip right out of the first round.
The Bengals looked like the most likely landing spot for Raji - but they may want to stay away now. They've have way too much trouble in the past. If Green Bay passes on him, then he should fall to the Jets. It looks like Denver will be looking to move up for a QB... If he's there, the Jets have to take him -- BPA.
BTW, this might explain why the Jets worked out BJ RAJI last week At first that seemed like a complete waste of time, but obviously the Jets already knew what we just learned today
I edited that last post, E, and I don't think you caugt my last minute addition, but this is shades of Warren Sapp who we passed on because he got popped for smoking weed, and took Kyle Brady instead hmy: So I agree, I would hate to make that mistake again .. so long as its not hard drugs and only weed, which is not really addictive and easier to quit so long as he's not a complete buffoon, I think the value for RAJI at 17 (as a player) is reminicent of the value of Sapp in around the same spot who we passed on for Kyle "the wooden indian" Brady
Don't put Ellis and Raji's lockers together. They're liable to throw up some plastic and get the hot box goin' before the game.
Oh man, if Raji slides to 17, I really don't know how we could pass him up. He is a truly quality talent at NT and could play DE up until Jenkins can't hold up anymore. The guy's a beast and I'd love to have him here. I'd still be afraid of him getting by GB and DEN though, especially if the Broncos have two first rounders from a potential Cutler deal.
yeah he would, but theres no way in a dt starved draft, as the only elite talent, he would slide to 17
