Some of you might recall the thread I had here when I was GM of the Jets on another website. The offseason was like the 7 rounder here, except you could trade picks and players and there was a free agency period. The offseason ended and I just wanted to post the end result. I got 10 mil in cap space for the free agency period.

    Jets players retained
    Eric Barton, ILB
    Tony Richardson, FB
    Jesse Chatman, RB
    Marques Murrell, LB
    Mike Nugent, K
    Jay Feely, K
    Bubba Franks, TE
    Cody Spencer, LB
    Hank Poteat, CB
    David Barrett, CB
    Wallace Wright, WR

    Jets players lost in FA
    C.J. Mosley, DT/DE --- to the Lions
Abram Elam, SS --- to the Browns

    Players signed in FA
    Channing Crowder, ILB -- starter
Byron Leftwich, QB -- QB competition
    Jarrad Page, S -- starter
    Ray Willis, RT/RG -- starter
    Derrick Martin, CB -- depth
Leonard Weaver, FB -- future starter, power RB

    Players lost in trades
    Laveraneus Coles, WR
    Dwight Lowery, CB
    Bryan Thomas, OLB
    Brandon Moore, OG
    Eric Smith, S
    Thomas Jones, RB
    Chansi Stuckey, WR
    Eric Barton, ILB
    Brad Smith, WR
    Sione Pouha, NT

    Players gained in trades
Leigh Bodden, CB -- battle with Smith
Quentin Groves, OLB -- battle with Gholston
    Lee Evans, WR -- starter
    Marshawn Lynch, RB -- starter
Ryan Torain, RB -- rotational/power RB
    Cory Boyd, RB -- depth
Frank Okam, NT -- depth (future starter)
Ahtyba Rubin, NT -- depth (future starter) -- future competition w/ Okam
Lance Leggett, WR -- depth w/ high potential

    Draft
    Draft
    1 - Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC -- battle with Evans+Cotchery (#3)
2a - Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah -- battle with Bodden (starter)
2b - Jarron Gilbert, DE, SJSU -- battle with Coleman [(future) starter]
5a - Lee Robinson, ILB, Alcorn State -- depth and future starter
5b - Anthony Hill, TE, NC State -- blocking TE
5c - T.J. Lang, OL, Eastern Michigan -- depth and future starter at OG
5d - Victor Butler, OLB, Oregon State -- pass rush depth
6a - Bradley Fletcher, CB, Iowa -- depth w/ high potential
6b - Everette Pedescleaux, DE, Northern Iowa -- depth and future starter
    7 - Nate Ness, S, Arizona -- depth w/ high potential

    UDFA rounds (2)
1 - Dominique Edison, WR, Stephen F. Austin -- depth w/ high potential
2 - Thomas Morstead, P, SMU -- battle with Hodges (starter)

Basically, a ton of talent was added to the roster. It might take a little bit for chemistry/cohesion to kick in, but Ryan gets a reworked roster with pro bowl potential at almost every position. The defense is now most certainly tops in the league, the offense should be able to run the ball all day and has a ton of weapons at WR and TE to make the QBs life easy.

    QB: Leftwich/Clemens/Ratliff/Ainge
    RB: Lynch/Washington/Torain/Boyd
    FB: Richardson/Weaver
TE: Keller/Baker/Hill (Baker was not cut in the IMD)
WR: Evans, Cotchery, Nicks, Clowney, Wright, Leggett, Edison
    LT: Ferguson/Hunter
    LG: Faneca/Lang
    C: Mangold/Turner
RG: Woody/Lang --- Woody is better suited at RG
    RT: Willis/Hunter

Only Lynch and Evans? Can't we get McKelvin as well?

    Madden is fun.

That was the one last minute trade that was made and I almost did not want to do it since I knew in real life it wouldn't happen, but the Bills GM wanted to get rid of Lynch since he was rumored to be on the block and he is going to get a suspension by the league. The Jets can handle a suspension since they would still have Washington and Torain. I also gave up draft picks - as you can see I've got nothing in rounds 3 and 4.

Every team was manned by a person, so everyone had free reign over their team. I wheeled and dealed with a lot of teams to get what I wanted. While unrealistic in the end, you can't deny that you'd be ecstatic with that roster.

    That's definitely a Madden-offseason (and maybe even that's a stretch).

I don't like how many players you traded and got rid of, but that would be one hell of a team. Nobody can deny that.

But this is way too out there.

I don't deny that the entire scenario is unrealistic, but I slowly made small moves (not including the Bills trade) to get the players and draft picks that I wanted to fit our scheme.

My favorite trade of the whole thing was the Jacksonville trade for Groves. They needed interior line help (Moore) and I wanted a quality pass rusher. Groves played 3-4 OLB at Auburn, and has an amazing size/strength/speed ratio. He could be a stud OLB and compete with Gholston for the other OLB spot which I think he would win. In which case Rex would have some time to develop Gholston until he could take over Pace's spot when Pace slows down/moves on.

I figured with a new coach I could add some new players and kind of change things up in the locker (I didn't like the constant-at-odds that had been going on with Coles and TJ there).

I had provided a link to prove that this was not a video game, but in fact a detailed IMD.

These Jets would be renamed the New York Juggernauts.
