How do Jets fans see the AFC east play out this year? Which teams do you guys think improved themselves this year and which ones are going to backslide. I noticed that you guys talk about the patriots here a lot but don't seem to consider the dolphins and bills much.
The Bills aren't anything. They have so many holes and holes filled with average talent that they'll be last again this year. there is some belief that the Fins are going to have that typical regressive year where the schedule gets tougher and they aren't as consistent, but I wouldn't say they won't be as tough. The Pats, if healthy, are back on track to what they were. With the Jets, its going to come down to the QB position. Good QB play gets 9-10 wins. Mediocre play gets 6-8. my .02
Like the poster above, I don't have any confidence in the Bills to do anything. I think the Dolphins will take a step back next year and I think the Patriots will return to the form they had in their almost undefeated season. If Brady plays well there is no doubt in my mind that they will be back in the Super Bowl. The Jets, I really couldn't tell you what my prediction is at this point. Again, like the poster above, I really need to see how the QB battle turns out. With a good QB I think we can win 10-11 games but with our current situation I am thinking 8-9.
I don't think Buffalo will be much of a threat at all. Probally another 8 win season for them. I agree Miami will take a step back but still be a competive 9-10 win season. If Miami struggles I wouldn't be shocked if they turn to Chad Henne at some point at QB. If Brady is heathly and plays well I still don't think Patriots will win more then 11 games. The Patriots D isn't getting any younger, they have no threat of running game. The Jets will be around 7 wins depending on the QB Play. If the jets have solid qb play they can win up to 9 or 10 games also
Patriots: 15-1 Jets: 9-7 Dolphins: 8-8 Bills: 4-12 those probably don't add up, but that's the general area i think the teams will end up in.
Bills- Lot of their key players are young guys with potential and if they pan out the Bills could be dangerous. If Trent Edwards, McKelvin, Hardy and Poz and the other young guys play really well this is a dangerous team. I figure adding TO might only serve to balance out the damage from most likely losing the Predator. Miami- last year they did crap against good teams. If the Jets play well they will sweep the Fins. They still have serious problems at WR and even if they draft one WRs usually don't do anything their rookie year. Between Joey Porter and Ricky Williams one of them is likely to do something stupid, or just have an off year anyway. Their talent level isn't that high and they don't have the right players for the 3-4. But if they have a good draft and get some 3-4 players who play well as rookies they could be dangerous. Pats - In the long run they are declining, but a good draft or getting Peppers could put them back on top. Just having Brady and Moss healthy for the whole season could be enough to win the division. I don't like the fact that they have so many picks in a year filled with 3-4 LB draft prospects. In one year they could get their defense set for a decade. Getting two of the top three USC LBs is realistic and they can all play in the 3-4. Then draft a small DE in the late rounds and have him take over for Adalius in a few years. Realistic possibility, a few years from now their LBs could be Matthews-Mayo-Mauluga-Kruger. That would suck.
Well put. I would agree, Pats are team to beat again. 13-3 looks like a possibility, with Brady playing well it is possible. Bills will be better, better on Offense. I agree Phins will regress to probably 8-8. All in all, tough division.

I see the Pats as still the best team with a healthy Brady and of course Belichick. Miami should continue to be good with Parcells in charge and Chad at QB. The Jets, if we can get good QB play, are good enough to challenge for the playoffs and challenge Miami for second. The Bills don't worry me which means they will probably win the division.
I will be very very surprised if Brady comes back this year and resembles anything similar to the 2007 Brady that went 18-1. QB's seem to always suck their first year back after knee surgery (just look at how McNabb and Palmer, Culpepper, etc, did the year following their surgery). Even Peyton Manning looked horrible for the first half of the season last year after getting his knee worked on and that was only minor surgery.
I agree. I think he is all but done. Maybe another year or two at most. Less if he takes another hit.
Looking at my phins I see a couple spots that will definitely be improved this year. Our offensive line is going to be better. We got a bigger stronger center and some our other guys are coming back from IR ready to play. Our defensivle line is solid. I think we're going to spend quite a few picks on our LB's and CB's. We are definitely going to have a better defense. Much more physical. The things I am a bit worried about are on our offense. Chad Pennington had a good year so of course he's due to get injured. But I think Chad Henne will be ready to step up. We have no new receivers yet. But one of our leading receivers is coming back of IR and another one our 6'4" WR Brandon London is stepping up. We might see some improved numbers in the passing game. On the running game can Ricky and Ronnie still get it done? I think if our offense can keep up it's level of play and our incoming defensive players can make an impact your Jets might not have a rough time of it.
Really? Jets 9-7 without a QB and the Dolphins 8-8 finally having some continuity and the same coaching staff for more than a year? Hmmm, don't know as I see things the same as you. I think Miami can have another good year becuse of the coaching style we have in Sparano, he doesn't like to lose and he doesn't let player sluff off. I think Miami could step beckwards it's not out of the question, I just don't think it will happen. I think losing more games, but being a better all around team doesn't mean you step backwards. If Miami doesn't win the division, but goes further into the playoffs, I'll consider that an imporvement. As for Buffalo, everyone thought the Dolphins would be the doormat of the AFC east in 08 and we won the division. I think the Bills have the worst coaching staff in the division, but they still compete. I don't count anyone out of the division till they're officially out.
I think the division as a whole will be very competitive. There will be a lot of ? for each team. With us it will depend on the QB situation. With the Pats it will be Brady coming back from the injury, The Bills it will be how TO will effect the locker room. The Dolphins it will be are they for real or was last season an abberition. I really think it will be one of the most interesting divisions to watch in the league.
Obviously the Jets are going to win the AFC East, and then go onto the Super Bowl and win. Sorry, I'm still in Week 10 of last season (or was it Week 11)?
Thinking about it I feel the pats are about beginning their slow decline. They haven't won a superbowl since 2004. Maybe they have one more championship run in them? Brady is over 30 andjust coming back off that knee surgery, their team is filled with aging free agents chasing that ring. I'm sure they'll start strong but can they stay healthy and maintain the momentum? There is only so long you can keep a championship caliber team together. The Patriots are an aging franchise. It might come down to the jets and phins again at the end of the year.
