So after learning Cabrerra has no options left it should come as no surprise the Yankees are trying to trade him before he becomes a FA...lol. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9379176/Notes:-Yanks-appear-open-to-moving-Cabrera
Trade him to the Twins in a package with Hughes and Kennedy for the best pitcher in baseball.... oh wait.
Why don't you come join the rest of us hanging out here in 2009, when the Yankees have a better rotation and all their prospects to trade, if they so desire.
Anyone else notice the best pitcher in baseball has won the second best team in town the same number of world series as a certain pretty catcher who is in the news today?
Girardi plans on switching Jeter and Damon in the order. Wonder which one he doesn't like where they are. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11552828
I'd say this move helps both of them actually. Jeter gets to bat leadoff, where he probably belongs, and Damon gets the protection of the heart of the order. Think about how Damon will be hitting in June with Teixeira and ARod hitting right behind him.
Rotoworld: Manager Joe Girardi announced Thursday that CC Sabathia will be the Yankees' Opening Day starter. That means Sabathia will throw the first pitch at new Yankee Stadium, April 6 against the Orioles. He's also lined up to face his former Indians teammates on April 16 in Cleveland's home opener. Pretty sure that game is in Baltimore.
well if you haven't noticed it by now, I'm a Hughes fan, so here's another article about the kid http://community.thetimes-tribune.c...sday-afternoon-notes-duncan-handles-left.aspx
It is being torn down piece by piece. They ahven't really begun dismantling it yet. The grass is being sold as will all the other pieces of the Stadium be sold.
Haha. That's totally fucked up in every sense. Him opening the new stadium on the 16th is going to be sick.
Good..finally talk of putting Jeter in the outfield where he has belonged for years now. Too bad they are talking about center..he doesn't have the tools to play center. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...ramiro_pena_coming_up_fast_at_shortstop_.html
He doesn't have the tools to play center, and he probably wouldn't be good enough defensively in a corner spot to justify his bat. But I guess you can get away with that in the American League Brand Baseball Approximation, with the DH.
not sure if you're being serious or not... Arod has become way to big to handle SS. It seems like the Yankees are very high on Ramiro Pena, and think that he may be able to handle the SS duties once Jeter's contract expires. Jeter's most likely destination (in my opinion) is LF. You can argue that his bat won't make up his less-than-stellar defense out there, but (as awful as an argument as it is) he's Derek Jeter. The Yankees aren't going to let him go sign elsewhere and he'll (hopefully) acknowledge that he's no longer a SS in two years (let alone this year).
Anyone know the deal with Swisher? I read an article saying that Gardner won the CF job, but that Melky would be backing up Gardner, Damon, Nady in the outfield. No mention of Swisher at all. I would assume that with a utility spot being taken by possibly this SS kid (until ARod returns) and Melky as the OF backup, Swisher is the odd-man-out? That must suck. He came to the Yankees thinking he'd be the everyday 1B, then a possible CF, then a possible RF, now nothing.
No it's not, I have tickets for the 18th, which is Saturday. Thursday, the 16th is when the series with Cleveland starts.
