Thanks, I wanted to go defense and easily could have for Matthews or a couple of others. But Wells was too good of value in the 2nd and RB is a strong need.
No problem. I like the Johnson pick. Hes an extreme athlete and could possibly be made into a star under Spagnuolo's D.
I'm a big fan of my draft for Philly with Pettigrew and Moreno. A few peopel thought Pettigrew went too early but with all the RB's still there and no team in between 21 and 28 I knew either Moreno or Wells would be there at 28. I'm a big fan of Moreno and think he'd be a great compliment to Westbrook.
Yeah, and Carriker badly needs a nose tackle next to him. The Rams badly need a nose tackle, but it is too early to take ERROR:MEMORY EXCEPTION. They badly need a left tackle, but it was too early to take any of the guys who are left. They badly need receivers, and EXPLETIVE DELETED actually would have been great here had he not done so poorly at his pro day. Corner was the other place I was thinking of going, with [REDACTED BY EDITOR] still on the board. Seriously, the Rams may have a negative number of receivers on their roster, I'm not completely sure at this point. This franchise is in such deep trouble that it isn't even funny. Maybe its too many recent & high picks in the front seven (Chris Long & Adam Carriker, with me adding in Aaron Curry and Michael Johnson) but this defense could turn around big time by 2010 with this draft if they can find a solid run stopping nose tackle and a true starting corner. The front four would be able to get plenty of pressure to make things easier for the secondary with Long, Carriker, Johnson and someone who isn't a joke at nose.
I know what you're saying here. At this point, it may not be a bad strategy to just load up the D this year, take whatever lumps are necessary on O in the forthcoming season, and concentrate specifically on O in 2010. It just seems like value in the draft is breaking best to go in that direction.
That would be an absolute hell of a draft for Jacksonville. EDIT: Seriously if I'm jacksonville and thats how the draft shakes out I shit my pants. Stafford and Nicks would be a haul.
If we can just get this Oakland pick in.............we have Myself(2 picks), BakerMaker(2 picks) and Mr.Electric29(a pick)............and things will be rolling again.
Moreno was a nice pick (And certainly better than Chris Wells), but I would have went another direction rather than TE. I feel like an offensive lineman or even a defensive end would have been the way to go.. Not that Pettigrew was a bad decision, but Brent Celek is very underrated and they could get a complement to him in the 3rd or 4th..
The top tackles were off the board. If Britton was there and I thought he would be I might've gone that route. I figure whoever is playing tackle whether its Andrews or Herremans will be better with a guy like Pettigrew blocking next to him.
I agree, this draft seems to be very deep in some areas and very very shallow in others, its definately an interesting year
I had the draft board for the Cardinals set up as follows: 1. Moreno 2. McCoy 3. Wells 4-13. other guys I feel McCoy fits better with the Cardinals than maybe any other team in the league. His proven ability to catch passes is key. The fact that he is more elusive than Wells is important, too. A McCoy-Hightower tandem would probably be more effective than a Wells-Hightower tandem. That said, I didn't watch any of these RBs enough in 2008 to be able to say with conviction that one is going to be better than the others and all that stuff. As for this b.s. about guys having bad pro days or combines- I'm not heavily into all that. What happens during games is important. If the Jets took a similar stance as me, Gladys Gholston would not be on the team.
Fine, but that doesn't mean he could play well in the NFL. Look at today's college basketball action. A star as an amateur, Tyler Hansbrough is going to be a role player in the NBA. Gholston exhibited one pass rush skill (the bull rush) in college. In other words, he was/is going to be a project. Unless the pick is a QB, it is not prudent to spend a top 10 pick on a guy who will need years of work to make an impact (if ever).
