I am not sure about number 1 but Stuckey could be a very good number 2. IMO Stucky emerged as a playmaker last season. Just about every pass Stuckey caught last season he made a big play. Be it a great catch or a good run after the catch the guy was playing at a high level. Part of our problem at the end of last season was Stucky was always used as a decoy and Favre stopped looking Stuckey's way. I feel like Stucky in his own way is as good as Cotch. A good number 2 but not ready to be number 1. I dont think Cotch is a number 1 either. But if we went into the season with Cotch and Stuckey at 1 and 2 then whoever is at 2 would produce. Also, I dont mind Stuckey being in the slot but IMO he should be on the field every down.
Stuckey is going to excel as a #3 or #2. I'd rather have Cotch as the #1 - or Clowney if he proves himself. Or draft someone, obviously.
I think Chansi can be our "Wes Welker" slot reciever. I've thought that after seeing him make catches during the season numerous times.
What about Jericho Cotchery? This man has played his ass off as a #2 WR behind Coles over the past three seasons as our #2, I would say Jericho Cotchery has earned his shot as the Jets next #1 WR. He's 26 years of age and should be in his prime for another 5-6 years. He may not be the tallest WR in the world @ 6'0, but he plays the WR position as tough as anyone and lets not forget that Jericho has great hands. Alot of Jet fans seem to 4get that Cotchery broke just about every receiving record set by Tory Holt while playing for NC State, this kid can play with the best of em. Is he a Randy Moss or TO Type of WR? No, not many are...But I honestly feel Cotchery can be a great #1 WR for years to come. In 2006 Cotchery played in all 16 games, recording 82 catches for 961 yards with 6 TD's In 2007 Cotchery played in 15 games, recording 82 catches for 1,130 yards with 2 TD's And last year, Cotchery played in all 16 games, recording 71 catches for 858 yards with 5 TD's I would like to see his TD #'s go up, and as a #1 WR, I'm sure they will becuase Cotchery would then be our main target and #1 option in the passing game. As a #1 WR and the Jets "Go-2-Guy" I would expect Cotchery to put up monster numbers because this man has talent, heart, potential and a work ethic thats second to none. We already have a #1 WR in Cotch. We have a slot WR in Stucky. Who knows? Maybe Clowney could be our #2 WR, Im all for drafting Harvin, but hey...Thats just me. Long story short...We DO have a #1
thats nice and all but when Cotch was the #1 guy because Coles was off the field he had a hard time getting separation and making plays. The reason why Cotch doesn't get #1 consideration is because we've seen him struggle at that spot when asked to be the #1.
It's called a learning curve, Just about all WR's go through a learning curve...Just look @ T.Owens with the 49ers, he went through a learning curve and those same struggles is what made him what he is today, a better player. Believe me...Cotch is going to enter this offseason KNOWING that he's the #1 WR and that should give him a drive to work even harder than he has in the past. There is no denying the talent level of Jericho Cotchery and I'm expecting a strong year from this guy, and as a Jets fan...I'm more worried about the #2 spot than Cotch as our #1.
another weak blanket statement... Cotchery's learning curve came with the Edwards era when he was behind Coles and Chrebet. He then emerged as a starter and has done quite well. There is no learning cruve to become a #1. When Rice left T.O. became a #1 with ease. That was a shitty example.
I think Chansi Stuckey can have a great career in this league, hopefully all on the Jets. He's proven himself to be a great slot WR and has the ability to move after the catch. The only thing holding me back here is that giving him the #1 receiver spot is putting a lot of trust into someone you just met on the bus. Last season was Stuckey's first regular season and we have no idea if he is going to get better to the point of earning a #1 spot or if he is just going to keep doing what he has already shown us (I would not be upset with that at all). I would be very happy if he turns out to be a starter but in case he does not the Jets should still bring in someone else.
#1 CB's are ALOT more talented than #2 CBs... There WILL be a learning curve when a #2 WR starts to play against #1 CB's as a #1 WR. The talent of your opponent gets alot tougher and thats something I wouldnt expect you to know because A, your a know it all on these message boards, or B...You've never played football. For example... I think it's safe to say that running routes against Revis is a little more tougher than running routes against Dwight Lowery...Alot tougher. Its common sence bud...Switching from a #2 WR to a #1 WR will have it's learning curves and you sound stupid as fuck right about now
then why did you use T.O.? that was a stupid as fuck example. Rice left and he didn't have this learning curve you are so sure about. So will TJ Housh have a learning curve in Seattle? Because its widely believed that he'll be ready to go from week 1. There will be no years long learning curve to become a #1 WR. I'm not a know it all, I apply common sense. And in your case, it so easy to beat your arguments because you never use facts. You just throw around blanket statements and hope and think its concrete. I don't let my fandom make my claims and decision for me because I live in the real world. You seem a little angry over this. Good to know i'm under your skin.
Angry? Over the internet? I come onto the ganggreen to talk about the Jets, I could care less about everything else. Under my skin? :metal: on Dude. You even said it yourself, lol...You said Cotchery struggled to get open when Coles was out, and you know why? Because it's just a LITTLE different going up against a #1 CB instead of a #2. It's going to take some time for Cotchery to adjust to the talent upgrade of opposing CB's. Put it this way...It's just a LITTLE tougher as a #1 WR, something I wouldnt expect you to know or understand because it's obvious that you have never played ball if you honestly believe that a learning curve isint involved @ the WR position.
So you're saying that no matter how good a player on the Saints team was, it was only because Saints was "an up and coming team, that caught a few teams on the hop?" Wow... Good reasoning And Colston played excellent because he "was an unknown quantity"? Well, what do you say about most other "unknown quantities" that were drafted in the 7th round and don't even get to see pre-season? Also, was Colston "an unknown quantity" in his second year even after having a break out rookie season? To dismiss Colston like that, I find, is actually an insult to all the later rounders. I bet you still think Brady is "an unknown quantity".
stuckey to start? is this serious? these are not the weapons our inexperienced QB needs... either draft a WR or stick to your running game approach and draft moreno/ d.brown
calling me stupid as fuck meant your emotions rose in a negative way, so I wouldn't be surprised if you got a little angry. Yes Cotchery struggled, which, right now, only means that he can't play the #1 WR spot. I love how you have this philosophy of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger bullshit, because if that was the case, David Carr would be better than Manning. You talk about the learning curve, which I obvously addressed and put to rest. Cotch's learning curve came in the Herm years and now he is where he's supposed to be. You honestly think everyone can be the HOFer if given the chance. That's why you're perceived as a idiot. Its obvious you never played sports period. Because you don't understand levels of talent or player ceilings. How do you know I wasn't lining up at red zone WR when I was 12 because I was taller than everything else? Keep trying. For you to throw that blanket statement around about me never playing football is another weak attempt at your opinion being taken with anything more than a grain of salt. You are fucking clown shoes.
I'm sure that when he was young Coles was faster than Stuckey is now, but I really believe that last year Stuckey was at least as fast and at least as effective as Coles. In my opinion anytime Coles wasn't at 100% they should have immediately replaced him with Stuckey, but Mangini liked to kiss ass to the star players so that didn't happen. Maybe Stuckey is best suited for the slot, I'm not so sure about that myself, but one thing I am sure about is that he's as fast as Coles and Cotchery are at this stage in their careers. I think our current QBs and WRs deserve one full season to show what they can do before management panics and goes after new players. I have this fear that if we trade for Cutler after three years he's going to go back home to Indiana and take over the Colts when Manning quits this stupid football thing and devotes himself full time to his first love, commercial acting.
