And throwing for 350 yds while the offense scores 34 pts has nothing to do with the QB?

And again, what is wrong with having a big armed QB when you actually make good use of your arm? Jay Cutler isn't Kyle Boller or JaMarcus Russell. He's actually good.

He was leading the #2 ranked offense in the league in his second season as a starter when they were 8-5 and only needed one more win. The 29th ranked defense went on to give up 112 points in the final three games including 30 against Buffalo at home. He doesn't play defense.

No but he's 12-1 when the defense gives up 22 or fewer points. He doesn't play defense.

What the fuck does being a franchise QB have to do with his contract? Nothing.

This is the most retarded comment I've seen so far. How do you know what kind of leader he is? How do you know how he commands the huddle? How can someone SHOW YOU leadership ability by watching a game on TV?

I'm pretty sure he was answering a question from a reporter about how his arm compared to Elways. There's nothing wrong with answering the question. It's not like he called a press conference to announce he has a stronger arm than Elway. He also never brought the comparison beyond that.

He has shown the ability to shred NFL defenses and do it when the pressure is on. His 3rd down conversion rate was well above the league average and he's been awesome in the fourth quarter. In his 3rd year in the league he lead the 2nd ranked offense on a team with an inconsistent running game. They had only 2 100 yard rushers all season. Imagine how many wins he'd have with a consistent running game and a solid defense? Hmm - the Jets seem like that have those two things. He's only going to get better.

Look at his first 3 years numbers and compare them to any QB you want. The list of QB's who've put up better numbers is short. You're talking about guys like Marino and Manning ahead of him. Speaking of Manning, in his 4th year as a starter he lead a team with the 2nd ranked offense and 29th ranked defense much like Cutler last year. The Colts record that year was 6-10. I guess he's not a franchise QB because he couldn't overcome that 29th ranked defense.

Cutler isn't coming to the Jets. There's probably a .0001% chance he is. I just have to respond to comments like this trying to downplay how good Cutler is. Open your eyes and watch this guy play man.

I've posted on this enough in other threads available for your viewing pleasure. Peyton Hillis was the team that day. And I'll take a TD and 60 yards away from Cutler for that nonsense Eddie Royal play. He's not either of those guys, but he's not that good either.

I keep seeing people pointing to the last 3 games of last year and how many points the D gave up.
Cutler had 2 TDs and 4 INTs in those games.
    Just another point to ponder.

FTR I am all for letting Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge battle it out unless we can get Cutler on the cheap.

How the fuck was it nonsense? It was a great throw and catch.

And again, to say Cutler had nothing to do with that win is just stupid.

Look @ Cutlers stats from last year when the Broncos had the lead...Pretty solid stats

    Then...

Look @ Cutlers stats when his team is losing...Horrid....Out right Horrid.

When the pressure is on, he struggles.

    1. If we do get Cutler, it's going to cost us WAY more than we should give.

If a player is upset and the team wants to get rid of him, usually they lower what they want. The Patriots got a steal with Randy Moss for example. If we could trade a 4th round pick and get Cutler, then I'm game. If we have to give up 1st round picks and other players, it isn't worth it.

    2. Cutler is THE man in Denver. Haven't we seen other players in the past whine and bitch about the team they are on and what happens? It gets them nowhere. TO is a perfect example. He was a nightmare in Phili and SF, even crazy Jerry Jones couldn't deal with him and how he will destroy everything in Buffalo. An upset player in nothing but a distraction and IF the Jets get him, he will even be more of a distraction due to him being asked over and over "So, are you glad to be out of Denver?" No thanks.

    3. The trade would require our #17 pick. I have no doubt about that. I'd rather hold on to this pick. I'd rather draft Sanchez or Freeman and have NO issues with a crybaby bitching about his contract or his team. This draft might be one of the most important drafts in years, we could have Sanchez fall into our laps, then make a trade and pick up one of the very talented core of WRs.

Jay Cutler isn't going to lead ANY team to a Super Bowl no matter how badly you want him. He is GOOD, not great. I can name a bunch of QBs I'd rather have than Cutler and this includes Sanchez AND Freeman.

Please - show us those stats. Here are some comeback wins from '08 though.

Week 2, Down 7, 4:22 left in the 4th quarter.
Week 10, down 23-13 going into the 4th quarter. After giving the Broncos the lead in the 4th, the defense surrenders it again with 4:53 to go.
Week 11, down 20-14 in the 4th quarter.
The Chiefs game he also lead them to the winning TD in the fourth quarter. So there's 4 from 2008 even though the 4th was just a tie game the pressure was on. He has 6 come from behind victories in his 37 career starts.

Week 16 against Buffalo Denver got the ball with 8 1/2 minutes left down 7.
Cutler drove them down but then threw an interception.
Denver D held 3 and out to give him another chance and he went 4 of 9 on the drive and couldn't get it done.

To say you want an unproven college QB over a QB who has proven he can play at a high level in the NFL is assinine. And to say that Cutler is not going to win a SB with any team is also an ignorant comment. How the hell do you know? And please us which other QBs are not going to win SBs and which are. I'm sure that not only will the TGG crowd be interested in your scouting prowess and pyschic abilities, but so would 32 NFL GMs. So, let's hear it.

Just because he isn't 'great' right now doesn't mean he'll never lead a team to the SB. There are plenty of great QBs who never won a SB, there are plenty of 'ok' QBs who did, and some that looked great because they were on a championship team. The point is winning a Super Bowl doesn't gauge how great a QB is. Look at Marino; without Terrell Davis, who knows if Elway would have won one either. I don't really want Cutler here in NY; I think he's a overrated and a pompous ass, but he IS a franchise QB and if you put him on a championship caliber team, he'd easily good enough to lead them. To say you want Sanchez or Freeman over Cutler is just ignorant. (no mj)

Out of bounds. Argue with that all you want, I still think he was out. I thought the replay showed it pretty well.

OK he didn't pull off the come back after the defense gave up 30 points already. No one can do it every game. I'm not sure what your point is.

I'm pretty sure they challenged that and lost?

You have to at least consider Cutler if he's available for trade. He's not on the elite QB level, but realistically, he's better than what we currently have.

3 games to play and needed to win one.

Yes, the D gave up alot of points but he had his chances and didn't get it done.

He only put up 10 pts. against Carolina and had 2 chances at the end against Buffalo.

He had 2 TDs and 4 INTs in those 3 games

Clutch is not putting up huge numbers all year and folding in the last 3 games.

And THAT is THEE Problem: We DONT know what we have, yet. Let the Kids play, hell draft Freeman like all the NFL Network guys have us doing, but unless I can see Ratty or Clemens with a solid o-line and a decent defense, how will we ever know how good they can be?!?

You should post more often because your right on with this.

Give Kellen a solid O-Line with a running game and watch what this kid can do on Sundays...He can win.

In 2007 we had one of the worst O-Lines in the leauge, nah...F-That...We had the WORST O-Line and thats the reason why we had no passing game, no protection and no running game what so ever...It all starts up front, in the trenches and the Jets were horrid where it mattered the most.

In 2007...Ferguson and Mangold were both only 2nd year players...

Montgomery (Who) was our starting LG (Wonder why we had no running game)

Anthony freaking clement was our starting RT (Wonder why we had no pass protection)

And Thomas Jones couldnt buy a TD because of that.

Now we have a top 5 O-Line with Ferguson as our franchse LT who will be a 4th year starter in 09.

Mangold is a beast of a center, will also be a 4th year starter

Alan Faneca is our starting LG, a future HOF and he still has a good 4-5 years left in the tank

Woody is our starting RT...A proven veteran.

And look what happend with that O-Line...Thomas Jones rushed for the most yards in the AFC.

I just find it fascinating that the same people who were as giddy as a schoolgirl when the Jets foolishly got Burt (and are giving away a 3rd round pick for a wasted season) are the most vocal in calling for Clemens and Ratliff to be given the opportunity.

Sure, the Jets were willing to give up to a 1st round pick (the unlikely Super Bowl run but there were delusional fans who were buying the newspaper hype of a all NY Super Bowl) for a washed up 39 year old and the vast majority of people here didn't second guess it.

Substitute a 25 year old franchise QB and now all of a sudden the "price is too high" and the "guy is too cocky." Burt's me-first show, of course, was excused because guys like Craig Carton wanted him from day 1 and went to training camp demanding the trade.

From the way Tannenbaum has acted in the past, I'm sure he's been on the phones with Denver though. All the beat writers say the Jets are monitoring the situation, hardly a ringing endorsement of the in-house candidates. If the Jets thought Clemens had a future, they would have given him the starters job last year. Good ole Chad was on his way to winning the starting job last season, and the Jets though enough of him to cut him. Oh yeah, I can't wait for someone to mention his AWESOME fourth quarter against the Ravens.

Welp< I for one, never wanted Brett here. Its also very funny that those who say Ratty hasnt played a real game are correct, but until he does, then what do we have to measure him by? If in context, we drafted Clemens, but gave him the worst o-line to play with, what chance did the kid get? Yup' you are correct, I'm sure as hell Tanny has been calling an area code in Denver non-stop, of course he is, as he and Woody NEED to sell PSL's! Cutler will do this, Ratty and Clemens wont. But, if you listen to what the NFL guys Mock drafts are saying , we are going with Freeman, so now what? Three guys who havent proved anything in the NFL? WE need to give Ratty and Clemens a chance before we waste more of the future on a "Quick" fix. Cutler has a cannon of an arm. But he has yet to win anything, and Imploded much like Chad has done time and time again, when it counted. If by week 6, our starter hasnt done anything, then bring in Ratty, Clemens or Freeman. We will win by rushing and Defense anyhow. If we get Cutler, fine. But the Odds are we wont. This team isnt going to win the SB this year, its time to see what the hell we have before we go wasting more of the future for one decent year. I, as a long time Fan, 38 years and still crying, will waste a year or two to get it right, and by this I mean: Be competitive each and every year, make the playoffs and no damn friggin' "Good one year, suck the next"! I have had enough of that ride for a lifetime!

    This arguement is lame.

Who wouldn't give up a 1st round pick for a absolute shot at a SB game? That is a no brainer. A 3rd round pick for a FHOF isn't breaking the bank by any stretch of the imagination.

What is the worst that came from that?

We had a bad ending to a exciting season, it happens, but I think we gained more from that, then what it seems. I truly believe BF helped build a lot of chemisty with this team and passed some valuable knowledge onto this team. I think a 3rd rounder was totally worth it.

Cutler is no guarantee to the Super Bowl. Yet, we would surely lose a first round pick in hopes of making there, as is, we only would've lost our first if we HAD made it to the Super Bowl last season.

How do you know CP would've won the starting job? You don't know that for sure, nobody does, because we brought in BF. I'm kinda thinking it probably had more to do with the fact that Brett "FHOF" Favre was available on the cheap, so they probably felt like they couldn't pass that oppurtunity up.

Instead of your theory on how the unproven QB wasn't good enough because, if he was good at all he would've been the starter, instead of bringing in, Favre.

What do I know though? Crazy concept right? I know.. You don't have to tell me...
