I felt that way, a week ago, but Oher looked awesome at his pro-day and I won't be surprised to see Oher go in the 7(Oakland)-13(Washington) range. He helped his stock.
Don't believe it...he has alot more control in Cleveland (hand picked his GM, cart before the horse), than you can imagine.
Eh I dont know WW85 Mangini might or might not get the final say for the CLE pick.......Lerner will and Lerner has drafted some offensive weapons with his top 10 picks in the past(Winslow.......Even traded up with DET for him. Edwards with the 3rd pick). In fact the last defensive player CLE has selected was Wimbley otherwise the other picks were Brady Quinn and Joe Thomas(Last year they traded their 1st day picks away). Lerner tends to get into more football related things than Woody Johnson so I dont know how much freedom ManKok will get. Crabtree is the more popular pick anyway. EDIT: In fact since Lerner took over for his dad Wimbley has been the lone defensive player drafted in round 1.
I really like Oher's potential, I thought it was a very good pick. I think the draft thus far has been very solid overall, every pick makes a lot of sense even if it's not exactly who I would go for.
Shaun Hill was Mike Nolan/Mike Martz's guy -- I like Hill and I think he's done a nice job for the Niners, but he's not a franchise quarterback. With Hill on their roster, the Niners' staff has the opportunity to bring Sanchez along slowly...they can ease him into the pro game. If Shaun Hill was Singletary's QB, he would have publicly made that statement. He refuses to name his starter, which leads me to believe he's looking for HIS guy. Sanchez is my second highest rated player behind Aaron Curry. The Niners also signed Marvel Smith yesterday and he fills their hole at right tackle. At this point in the draft, no offensive lineman available is worth the tenth pick. Young guys like Joe Staley, David Baas, and Chilo Rachal all look like they will be solid pro linemen...
I think Lerner, IMO, is giving Mangini the Keys to the Castle. It's a weird situation when you hire the coach before the GM.....Lerner wanted his guy and Mangini hand picked the GM he wanted to work with....that tells me Mangini has alot of pull up at "the mistake by the lake". I'm certain....Cleveland will be drafting defense in Rd 1.
While I like the Crab pick for cleveland, I think they will go D as well. One of Orakpo or Everette Brown should be thiers. With the Shaun Rodgers situation being what it is, I would not be supprised of a Raji pick as well so Mangini can lock down the NT spot in his 3-4 for a decade.
Thanks.....Had to change plans quickly. Chad Clifton & Mark Tauscher don't frighten many DE's. Colledge will probably, when healthy, move to RT.
I felt that the Skins had to go OL and with Smith, Monroe, and Oher off the board, he was the way to go. I don't think Andre Smith is worth the risk.
Guys , I'm setting up a thread....Players drafted by team...so you can see how everyone is doing in their draft. Still in progress...should have it done Sunday. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=43929
Do You Guys know who is on the clock right now?
Fair point. The more I think about it, the more I see Sanchez going to San Fran. If he falls past 12 I'd really want to see the Jets try to trade up to get him, just to ensure that they get imo the best signal-caller in the draft.
Cakes has about 15 minutes..........I'm going to make the Saints pick, if he doesn't show. I have Houston Texan's (Hasty) PM for the next pick
I see a pick was made. It's probably better if somebody else takes the Saints. I'd then only have to focus on the Cardinals. I thought I would have been home in the 4:00 hour, but couldn't make it.
It appears I signed on about a dozen minutes too late. For what it's worth, I would not have selected Jenkins. When I signed on before, I figured the Saints wouldn't be up yet. I was looking to send a draft board to someone. Alas, picks were made quick today.
