Not sure if OAK needed Brown but I was hoping Brown would fall to BUF so I might need sometime to think of someone for the Bills now. lol Stafford pick is tough to see with such a rough O-Line and WR. I understand Gerrard is getting there in age but JAX is in need of people to jump in right away so I dont know about that move for JAX. Besides Gerrard still has a few years on his deal. Value wise its a steal but JAX needs so much more.
Agreed. I don't think Anderson or Quinn are just good enough to run a gunslinging-style offense under Mangini, and there's got to be a lot of balls to share between Winslow, Crabtree, and Edwards. I think the Browns had more pressing needs, but Crab was the BPA. Don't love some of these picks (no offense) but it seems like BPA is the philosophy rather than filling needs. Really, it's what I'd expect from message board drafters. You want to get the big flashy names, and I don't blame you.
IMHO, I think people mocking the drafts are putting too much of an onus on Seattle, Jacksonville, and the 9ers needing a QB. Going on a case-by-case basis, Seneca Wallace's numbers for Seattle were actually pretty nasty; 11 touchdowns 3 picks 1,532 yards and an 87 QB rating...plus Hasslebeck will be back as the starter. Jacksonville has Garrard and a plethora of other needs...if a reciever falls past the Raiders to the Jaguars I think he HAS to be the pick due to their inability to develop a number one reciever since Jimmy Smith. 9ers have the need if the staff doesn't believe Shaun Hill is the answer but Hill played well coming on for the 9ers and they plan on running a ground game oriented offense. This isn't directed at people on this board, as I think Stafford at 8 to the jags makes a ton of sense in terms of value and need if the second reciever or Crabtree isn't there. Alot of prognosticators however think these three teams have a need at qb that isn't as pressing as they make it out to be. EDIT: I apologize for mentioning a player not drafted yet. I've fixed the post.
Well my Packers got screwed.....I was certain Everette Brown would fall to me. I could have went with another DE/OLB (no names)....but I'm not high on him. Went in a different direction with Michael Oher. GB can us some O-line help and Oher's pro-day was very encouraging. Worked out very well.
Hell of a pick with Maybin. Having watched him this year, he is an absolute beast. An incredible pro-day, too, bulked up to around 260 and still can run a 4.6, absolutely unstoppable motor. He's the anti-Gholston, he probably got half of his sacks from chasing down the QB from the back side.
Really not in love with Maybin but there wasnt much else of a route to really go to. He brings what BUF needs, pass rushing. Oakland sort of made me mad along with WW85 by going with Brown. Buffalo will probably be in a similar hole though so I think they'd still grab Maybin. Great hustler and will be what BUF needs alongside Schobel.
Maybin was my unnamed DE/OLB......I passed on for GB. Man I wanted Brown. I had to do a 360 and went with Oher.
AGREED Ed, and I flatout heisted him for the Pats at #23 Overall in another mock draft I'm in with WW85 hmy: But this is more like it .. this is MUCH CLOSER to where he will actually be drafted
Winslow's a Buc now. Personally I like the Crabtree pick; I'm not as high on him as most, but with Edwards likely on the outs sometime in the next few years, it makes sense. I may have gone in a different direction, but this wasn't a bad one.
To be fair to Eletric and SF, GB had to take their main man(Oher) so SF was left in a rough spot as well. Just a crazzzzzzy mock draft thus far, didnt expect Stafford as a Jag, Monroe as a Lion, Brown a Raider, Oher a Packer. TGG mock drafts are always pretty crazy though so gotta keep tradition going. :metal: Agree with the rest of your post though....But I do think if Stafford fell to SEA, Mora Jr would go with Stafford over Smith in a deep OT draft. Just my 2 cents though.
Agreed........My warroom(GB) went nuts when Brown went to Oakland. Re-grouped and selected Oher(BAP), which makes sense if you really think about GB's needs.
Crabtree is a sick pick for CLE.........Stallworth is in deep trouble. Joe J. got cut and Edwards had a down year and Mangini isnt a fan. Winslow got dealt so the catches have to happen somewhere with the rushing game being spotty. Only other route you really had was maybe Brown and Raji if Rogers is dealt but I would have done the same as you.
Mangini's four first round picks with the Jets were two offensive lineman, a defensive lineman, and a defensive back. I really don't think he goes with a "flashy" pick with so many holes.
I think Oher is a small reach at the position but it certainly is a spot of need for the Packers. The thing with reaching in this mock is you can't trade down anyway, so you might as well grab the player you think the team needs unless you think he'll be there in the next round.
It depends on how you draft though. 2 ways of going at this mock draft A) Go for Realism as you mentioned and go with what the team usually goes with, even if you dont care for the player B) Go with whoever you feel is a player and who isnt so much a player and go based upon your observation of who would explode for your team or evade who wouldent. As long as the pick makes sense, then its all good. I usually go with A but try to get a guy I like as well. Doesnt always happen though.
