Alot of posters here are really high on Stuckey , I'm one too. Could he step up and be our #1 , maybe. Makes clutch plays and has the ability to get YAC. For those who are sitting on the fence , a little reminder..... (some awesome throws by Favre too) (7:02) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass deep middle to C.Stuckey for 22 yards, TOUCHDOWN. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80aa21b1 (11:04) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass short right to C.Stuckey for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80ad4c33 (11:30) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass left to C.Stuckey to NYJ 39 for 28 yards (B.Meriweather). http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80ad3eb4 (10:39) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass short left to C.Stuckey for 4 yards, TOUCHDOWN. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80b0f0bf (1:07) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass short right to C.Stuckey to NYJ 36 for 31 yards (T.Howard). http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80bca078 (8:09) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass short middle to C.Stuckey to NYJ 39 for 26 yards (T.Culver, Y.Bell). http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80db9906
fair case. I don't know if he has the ability to separate from the #1 CBs on opposing teams. As a slot WR, he is good enough to work the seam and beat a nickel CB and get yards afterwards. I'm not opposed to lining him up across from Cotch to test it out. I do have doubts about its long term effectiveness. Let's test it out in preseason. A WR will be drafted at some point anyway.
I'm sorry but seasonal highlights of a 35 catch season will not sell me for a #1 or #2 role. Stuckey is clearly a great project for #3 wideout but the NYJ clearly have a gaping hole opposite Cotchery. It better be adressed via draft.
He is a potentially decent slot receiver who can cause good matchups against but he will never be a No1. We should look to trade up for Crabtree ( our 1st / 3rd / 5th would get us up to 6/th in the draft.) or trade for B Edwards that would get us our No1 WR
I think Stuck is a slot guy. I actually think Brad Smith or Clowney are both better suited to be the #1. Both of them can play the role of spreading the D, pulling coverage so Cotch can work underneath. I think we'll see Stuck in the slot to work the LBs and Clowney in the slot to work the safeties. But honestly, whoever steps in opposite Cotch, even more so if its a rookie, will have a lot of growing up to do quick.
Brad Smith is not a No3 receiver nevermind a No1 on a team that wants to win things!! Clowney has great deep speed which at least given clemens or ratliffs arm strength will be utilised this year. Our biggest match up threat is Keller , getting another top TE to allow 2 x TE sets would cause some real issues for opposing D as Keller can really stretch the field as shown.
we have too many needs to sell the farm for Crabtree, who doesn't have deep speed and Edwards has questionable hands... I'd like to sell the farm for a no brainer, not players with red flags. You wanna sell the farm for Calvin Johnson? Then it makes sense.
He has the opportunity to be all he can be. Players need to start somewhere and become proven #1 players at respective positions. JETS fans just never wanna give anyone a chance. I like what ive seen so far in Stuckey give the kid a chance, instead of bringing in a washed up veteran.
We need help at wr in the draft in a bad way. Clowney has done nothing but catch a couple of bombs during preseason. Brad smith is a bust. Stuckey shows potentional but has a long way to go. I just cant see how we dont draft a wr on day 1
I agree alot will depend on who gets picked 1-16. When have the JETS ever been boring on draft day. Who knows they made trade up to get CrabTree or pick a RB - Moreno at 17 and get Britt in the 2nd round. My 2 choices 1-2.
Based on the draft trade chart, we would need to trade our 1st (950 pts), 2nd (380. pts), 3rd (210 pts) and 4th (64 pts) round picks to get the 1600 points needed to get to #6. That is obviously way too much to give up for one player.
question for all our nfl-heads: are there any great receivers either now or in the past that started out as an obscure player but over time developed into something special that no body saw coming? wayne chrebet comes to mind, but how about other greats? how many 'walk-ons' or late round receivers eneded up dominating like a true #1?
I believe Coles was a 3rd as well, and Steve Smith too. I'm looking up a few others . . . Well, Donald Driver was a 7th round pick. Huh. You find out something new every day, I guess. Hines Ward also went in the end of the 3rd round.
Marques Colston of the Saints.. NFL CAREER – Colston went from rookie sensation in 2006 to establishing himself as one of the NFL’s top targets in his second season. It has been a rapid rise for the former 252nd overall choice in the NFL Draft, who went from a compensatory pick to a unanimous all-rookie selection to now the holder of several club records. No player in NFL history has caught more passes in his first two seasons than Colston’s 168 grabs since arriving in New Orleans.
Stuckey is the perfect slot receiver. He's a go to guy on third down, and can make a guy or two miss to get the first down. But i wouldnt consider him a true threat in a game. He's not a game changer. He's certainly a good asset, but hes not someone whos going to be your go to guy.
Colston will be a one hit wonder I'm afraid. I still think alot of his success was due to an up and coming Saints team , that caught a few teams on the hop , and the fact the Colston was an unknown quantity.
I don’t think a case needs to be made for stucky. Just due to the Receivers on the roster we will be finding out rather soon whether this guy can hang in the NFL. I liked his you-tube clip reel. Showed some good hands and can get separation. Now all he would need is some chemistry with a known starting Quarter back and he may be put in a situation he can have success in.
