I understand the comparisions to troy williamson, but to think a receiver is going to come out be as bad as troy williamson is extreme. Williamson has dropped balls that i'm sure people who post in this forum could catch. We all talk about how we need a tall fast guy, well that's what DHB can be. Yeah, maybe he won't be a true #1, but if he can give us explosive plays and keep safeties back i will take that. I think a lot of people are afraid he may be just be a workout warrior, but eddie royal was thought to be the same way and look how he turned out. Right now I think he will be the best receiver on the board. Harvin has character issues, and i don't if nicks is really going to be the explosive guy we need. To me this guy has just a ton of ability and he caught the ball well at the combine (yeah i know its the combine) and he really satisfies a big time need for us, a guy who can instill fear in cornerbacks. Thoughts?
Kenny Britt, 6'3 215 4.4 in his 40, enough said. He would look good in a #88 jersey to complement our #89 for years to come. If pick 17 is to high than the JETS should trade down three or four spots and pick up an extra draft pick and bring in Kenny Britt. DHB just does not run all the routes or show the physicality that is needed to come in day one and contribute, he is still a work in progress, but Kenny Britt is a finished product ready to produce.
Even if he was the best wr available at that point...i think a player at another position would provide the Jets with much better value. Unless one of the top tier offensive players falls our way I think Rex will take the D Player of choice....
WRs have to be technicians at the position. Its an art form. DHB is just a fast burner type. Troy Williamson, Donte Stallworth, etc. I'd rather take someone else. And Britt does not deserve 17 overall money for what he did in college plus potential. It doesn't add up. He's on the 1st round bubble at best.
I really do like DHB, I have him as the #3 wideout on my board, behind Crabtree and Maclin. I would definitely accept him as the Jets draft pick at #17. But I'd really prefer a trade up to snag Britt somewhere in the 40s.
I think it was an attempt at a joke about the initials - D.H.B., D.B.S. ....................... yeah.
I like DHB too. It's between him or Britt for me in the first. You just can't teach speed and this guy can run in the 4.2's. His speed translates onto the field, and he is said to have decent hands. Route running is teachable, and from DHB's pro-day, scouts are optimistic that DHB can learn quickly. That being said, it's looking more and more like Mark Sanchez or Josh Freeman in the first. Then either Ratlif or Clemens will start the season and play well. I'm predicting we'll have a Derek Anderson-Brady Quinn situation.
All these recievers remind me of last years draft class. I'm not to impressed by any of them to be honest. Unfortunate, but true.
I Wouldn't mind taking DHB... He's got good size for a top receiver at 6'2 210 and he ran one of the fastest 40's for a Wideout. Great skills.
Great skills? Not passing catching or route runnign skills, thats for sure. Yea he is tall and fast, but thats not all there is to being a receiver. Not saying he is a sure fire bust, but I would nto take a chance on him in the first myself.
I don't remember Plaxico Burress being a good route runner at Michigan State. He was just a tall guy with some speed and some pass catching skills. This type of wideout does not necessarily need to be a great route runner.
He has dropped a couple but he has top end speed, and for some simple ones he has dropped i have seen him make some astonishing catches, he is momentum changer IMO, i personally would be delighted with either him or Kenny Britt.
Plax is 6-5. DHB is listed at 6' 2". Plax is a much better red zone target due to his supperior size. Palx set records at MSU: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaxico_Burress Bay has never been very productive. In three seasons he totaled less then Plax did in two at MSU with 2,089 yards and 13 TD's and barely beat him with 138 catches...with an extra season to work with. To compair a smaller, less productive guy to Plax is kind of a joke. There is a reason one went in the top ten and the other may fall out of the first round. Bay is not only a bad route runner, but has drop problems and is seen as soft over the middle. Not a good down feild blocker, not the type of runner that makes people miss. He is just fast in a stright line. Thats it. DHB is a boom or bust type pick that will not have a huge impact in his first year. Not exactly the type of guy I want to sink a lot of $$ into with our first.
