One of my favorite things about being a Protestant at a Catholic high school was having a ham sandwich for lunch every Friday during Lent.

I need to get a fucking Carls Jr burger bad.

No Carls JR/Hardees in Canada. IT's a fucking shame. Best fast food burgers.

    EVIL!

And I failed at Lent. Tried to give up red meat. Was good until this past Sunday (of all days) thanks to a colleague's wedding. Now I'm going to hell. Damn burgers and steak!

Actually, you are in the clear. Sundays don't count for Lent.

IN N Out is hardly even fast food. I've never been to one where I didn't have to wait 20-30 minutes for a Quad and Large Fries.

And it's kind of over rated. Good, but over rated.

I wish I knew that before going to Good Burger on Monday, Thursday and today. Sigh.

It's not the greatest burger ever, but it at least beats Carls Jr. Made fresh and all. We have Astroburger here in LA, which does much better at the greasy fast food burger any day, as far as chains are concerned. The best fast food burger, though? Irv's. There's only one, but it's awesome. Irv's Burgers. Been around forever, currently owned and operated by a Korean family, headed up by a woman named Sonia who will remember you (or seem to) 5 years after your last visit. She has ways.

You just can't beat the Wendy's Double Stack for all around value and taste for some late night Burgin'.

Ordered 3, and with a little creativity I had myself two delicious triple cheeseburgers. For $3, how can you go wrong?

I would take a Double Western Cheeseburger over a Quad any day. I just guess that's me tho.

There weren't alot of great buger joints in the Bay Area. Rocket Burger in Pacifica, CA had this massive burger that was pretty good, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh, and Toronado Bar in the Lower Haight used to serve an incredible burger every Tuesday, but they don't anymore. Shame.

I've always been a big fan of Five Guys. The double stacker, with the cheese dripping between the burgers along with those delicious full potato fries with the cajun spice...can't beat that in my book

So ended up at Ruby Tuesday's for a burger. They have a new thing, new to me at least, where that have a 12 oz. burger. I grabbed the Big Bacon Burger. Expecting something amazing, I was disappointed. Didn't fill my desire for a REAL burger.

One question tho, I asked for ketchup and they bring me these little cups filled with ketchup, like a metal tin. What the hell ever happened to getting a damn bottle of ketchup??

So I just got back from the mall, and to my surprise, there was one of these "Five Guys" burger places down a wing I never venture to. I have no idea how long it's been there, but I remembered how many of you guys talk this place up to being great.

Now, my moms told me she was making dinner, and actually wanted me to the chicken up on the way home. But being a red-blooded American man, I thought to myself, "Fuck mom and her chicken, I want a burger!"

So I go in, order myself up a Bacon Cheeseburger with onions, pickle, and ketchup on it, as well as a thing of fries and a drink. After the unnexpectedly long wait to get my food, I dug in.

First impression was great, as they had malt vinegar for the fries, which is always my preference over ketchup. I particularly loved how the fries weren't just in the cup, they also poured a heap ontop of the burger in the bag, thus nearly doubling the amount of fries. As far as the quality of the fries, they are top-notch in my book. I am a man who enjoys his fries just as much (if not more on some occasions) than his burger, and these were fucking fantastic. Nice and heavy, liberal salting, real potatoes. Just perfect.

On to the real burgin'. I worked my way down to the bottom of this now grease-soaked paper bag, and pulled out this round ball of incredibly dense food wrapped in aluminum foil. As I pulled back the last piece of foil and my eyes took notice that there were TWO patties I felt like a little school-boy opening his presents on Christmas morning.

The bacon was crisp and, well, bacony. The cheese was nicely melted and cheesey. But the absolute best part about this burger was the texture of the patties. I had seen the signs that these things were hand-formed and never frozen, and after taking a bite, I knew the signs were true. I was also quite pleased whit how quickly this little bastard filled me up. I mean, I'm a pretty big dude, and about half-way through the burger I was feelin it. It was like I had just eaten a handful of rocks.

So while the food was good, and much better than any typical fast-food burger I had eaten up to this point in my life, I can't really call it a fast-food burger. It took like 8 minutes to even get my food, and it was barely crowded in there. Plus, for what was basically a value meal at any other joint, cost me nearly $10.

    Fries: A
    Burger: B+
    Price: D

Malt Vinegar is KING on fries.

We had a small place up here called "Bentley's" They made AMAZING burgers, sadly, it doesn't exist anymore...that's where I discovered malt vinegar for fries.

Now I shall wander in the burgerless world that I live in...

Went to Red Robin in Cohoes a few weeks ago when my parents came up to go college hunting for my brother. I tried out their Burnin Love burger; fried jalapenos, bacon, pepper jack cheese, baja sauce. It was pretty damn good; not as spicy as I would have liked, but damn tasty nonetheless.

I'd give it 4 clogged arteries out of 5.
