I'm curious, I think there is a rule that a team can only bring in 20 players for private workouts, when they go out and visit a player at his school, that does that count towards the limit?
That is correct there is a limit, I believe it's 30. A visit (individual workout) is either with the player, at his school or Jet's facility. The Combine doesn't count.....it's just interviews that are very quick, it's been discribed as musical chairs
Jets working out Harvin. Jets | Will work out Harvin Wed, 18 Mar 2009 15:11:45 -0700 Jeremy Fowler, of the South Florida SunSentinel, reports University of Florida WR Percy Harvin said he has a private workout scheduled with the New York Jets.
Jets | Ryan attends San Jose State Pro Day Fri, 20 Mar 2009 12:24:49 -0700 Andrew Garda, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan attended the Pro Day at San Jose State.
rom Ohio University's Pro Day - It was the Mark Parson show, he weighed in at 5090 186. He only ran a 4.53 (hand-timed), but his shuttle (3.99) and 3-Cone (6.67) were extremely impressive and both would have been in the Top 5 in Indianapolis. I had his 60-Yard shuttle at 11.10, would have been very close to the top at the Combine. He nearly jumped through the roof, not sure on the exact vert, but it was in the 40" realm, would have been Top 5 at the Combine without doubt. He added an impressive 9'11 broad jump. I believe I saw him do twelve reps on the bench, but I didn't write it down. He was all smiles at time and really knew he had a great workout at times. You could see he wanted 10'0 in that broad jump though and he also wanted a better 40 and showing on the bench. He really prepared well through Deion Sanders' "Prime U." The Colts, Panthers, Bengals, Browns, Chargers, Saints, Jets, Rams, and Lions were in attendance. I'll take a look at the team webpages to try to match a name to the faces. The Panthers scout/coach and Jets scout/coach put Parson through his drills, while the Colts, Bengals, Browns, Chargers, and Lions watched him closely. He did very well in those drills and looked very quick, very fluid, and was very quick in his backpedal and transitions. Even in the 40 degree weather, he caught the ball well adjusting perfectly to a number of balls and catching the ball away from his body. He dropped only one throw. As a whole I was very impressed.
Someone mentioned that they saw Rex at Newark Airport and got on a plane to Cincy....here's why. So Rex is interested in Barwin and Gilbert....2 very nice prospects. CINCINNATI’S BARWIN IN DEMAND Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 21, 2009, 12:30 p.m. University of Cincinnati defensive end Connor Barwin put on a show at his Pro Day workout, running a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, according to Ed Thompson of Scout.com. A converted tight end, Barwin posted a 4.66 time at the NFL scouting combine. The versatile 6-foot-4, 256-pounder made a dramatic improvement on his home turf in front of New York Jets coach Rex Ryan and Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis as well as New York Giants tight ends coach Mike Pope and Jacksonville Jaguars assistant head coach/tight ends coach Mike Tice. Barwin is also being evaluated as a tight end prospect by several teams. During his workout, he performed positional drills at defensive end, linebacker and tight end. Barwin has had private workouts for the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos. He’ll work out for the Bengals on April 14. Barwin has taken an official visit to the Buffalo Bills and plans to meet with the Tennessee Titans, Jaguars and St. Louis Rams. He’s also expected to schedule visits with the Atlanta Falcons and the Kansas City Chiefs. Barwin recorded 11 sacks and 14 1/2 tackles for losses last season.
We all knew this was going to happen, dates have been confirmed. Jets | Sanchez to visit Sun, 22 Mar 2009 00:00:26 -0700 Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports NFL Draft prospect QB Mark Sanchez (USC) is scheduled to spend the majority of his day Monday, March 23, with New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. He will then have an onsite workout with the team Tuesday.
Not a private workout, but the Jet's were represented. I've heard some good things about Wilson. There was a another linbacker from San Diego St....Kirk Morrison, now a Raider, I wanted the Jets to draft a few years ago. SAN DIEGO STATE LINEBACKER’S STOCK RISING Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 22, 2009, 9:37 a.m. San Diego State linebacker Russell Allen had a strong workout in front of Carolina Panthers coach John Fox as well as scouts from 16 other teams at his campus Pro Day. At 6′3″ and 230 pounds, Allen ran a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash, with some teams clocking him as fast as 4.58 seconds. His 4.62 time would have ranked him as the fourth-fastest linebacker at the NFL Scouting Combine. Allen also registered 24 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press test, a 33.5-inch vertical leap and a 9′10″ broad jump. The other NFL teams represented at the workout included: the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and the Oakland Raiders. Allen was named San Diego State’s Most Valuable Player last season and is the school’s third all-time leading tackler.
OK more individual tryouts scheduled...2 wolfpack players Anthony Hill is a player if being high on for some time, would be an excellent addition with Keller. Maybe the best blocking TE in the draft, next to Pettigrew. Brown proves health Wolfpack players combine for impressive performances A.J. Carr - Staff Writer Published: Sun, Mar. 22, 2009 12:30AMModified Sun, Mar. 22, 2009 12:41AM E-Mail Print Text Size: tool nameclose tool goes here When Andre Brown looked around at the NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis, he saw 32 pro head coaches and dozens of scouts standing on the sidelines. Suddenly, the former N.C. State back felt that familiar game-day tinge in his gut. He knew it was time to show up or drop down in the steely, scrutinizing eyes of those men who could determine his football future. Turns out, Brown and his Wolfpack teammate, tight end Anthony Hill, both produced strong performances and left Indianapolis with positive vibes. Getty Images Photo by Scott Boehm - Anthony Hill generated buzz with his pass catching ability at the NFL Combine. Brown appeared to improve his status in the workouts and is generally depicted as a potential second- or third-round selection while Hill is projected as a third- to fifth-round choice. Both players were plagued with injuries at State, which meant they needed to shine at the Combine, at Pro Day tests and in individual team workouts. "I had to show I was 100 percent healthy,'' said Brown, who broke his left foot in 2007 and again in the spring of 2008. "They were saying I had nagging injuries and didn't produce as much as I should have at State. I took [the negative stuff] as motivation." At 225 pounds, Brown's size is a plus. He also ran a hand-held 40 in 4.37 seconds and ranked among the top five in three agility and speed tests at the Combine. This came after an impressive effort in the Senior Bowl. And he's not through. Still on his whirlwind schedule are tryouts with the New York Jets, Kansas City, San Diego, Houston, San Francisco and Jacksonville. "It's real crazy,'' Brown said. Hill, a 6-foot-6, 265-pounder, also generated a buzz with his pass catching ability and route running skill. "Everybody knew I could block well. I felt I had to prove I could catch the ball,'' said Hill, adding that "a Giants coach said I caught [it] as well as anyone there." Hill proved he could snag passes in 2006 at State, when he had 45 catches for 478 yards. After that, adversity struck. He missed 2007 with a knee injury and was slowed last fall with a torn muscle in his chest but insists his health is "totally" good now. Asked about his draft status, Hill said: "Most feel third round as a best-case scenario and worst case fifth round." But he didn't rule out "maybe surprising" somebody, which he could do on tryouts with Kansas City, Denver, and the New York Jets. Whatever, Hill isn't sweating the draft and won't be watching it on television. The tough tight end plans to be catching fish in the Gulf Coast.
New York Jets go to Rutgers Pro Day to watch WR Kenny Britt and others; Broncos and Cutler trying to make up by Dave Hutchinson/The Star-Ledger Monday March 23, 2009, 5:52 PM Saed Hindash/The Star-Ledger The Jets plan to bring in several Rutgers players for workouts, and QB Mike Teel will be among them.Just returned from the Rutgers University Pro Day and guess who was in attendance from your beloved Jets. Senior Personnel Executive Terry Bradway, who runs the draft, scout Jay Mandolesi and wide receivers coach Henry Ellard. The trio were among representatives from 27 NFL teams on hand. Hey, the Scarlet Knights have come a long way. Hmmmm. I wonder who the Jets contingent came to see. Can you say Kenny Britt? Well, I can even though the Jets refused to tip their hand. Britt, 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, has lost eight pounds since the NFL Combine and appeared as though he didn't have a lick of body fat on him. He ran two 40-yard dashes and his best time (there were at least a dozens stop watches on him) was a 4.40. The Jets will have him in for a private workout in the coming days. As the Jets prepare for the April draft with the 17th pick overall, they're putting in a lot of time studying the wide receiver class. Ellard, the former Rams great, has been to the private workouts of wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech), Jeremy Maclin (Missouri), Hakeem Nicks (North Carolina) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (Maryland). I'm hearing Britt is a late-first to second-round pick and the Jets may wait for him to fall to them in the second round. Crabtree is expected to be gone in a hurry. That leaves Maclin, Nicks and Heyward-Bey, and the guy I think they would love to drop into their lap is Maclin. I don't think that'll happen and if they want him that bad, they may have to go up and get him. But that said, quarterback Josh Freeman remains high on their list. ... The Jets will bring in Rutgers QB Mike Teel (word is, they like him), Britt, WR Tiquan Underwood, TE Kevin Brock and former Rutgers T Pedro Sosa for workouts in the coming weeks.Sosa, who underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee last year and sat out last season after being released by Miami in September, told me he's 100 percent healthy and extremely hungry after sitting out a year. ...

St. Paul’s Toler Is An NFL Sleeper Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 27, 2009, 1:36 p.m. St. Paul’s (Va.) cornerback Greg Toler is making his bid to emerge as this year’s Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie, and has been drawing increased interest from NFL teams. Toler had private workouts this week with the Cleveland Browns and the Miami Dolphins this week. Toler told us in a telephone interview that he has upcoming visits with the Washington Redskins, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I’m hoping to get that chance to prove myself,” Toler said. “Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie took the small-school route, and I’m looking to do the same thing. If I had gone to a bigger school, I might have gotten complacent. “From where I’m coming from, I treasure this a lot more. I don’t complain about anything, and I just appreciate the opportunity. This is my dream.” According to NFL.com, Toler has been projected as a mid-round to late-round draft pick. He’s hoping to go as high as the second or third round. Listed at 5-foot-11, 191 pounds, Toler has run a hand-timed 4.35 in the 40-yard dash. He intercepted 14 career passes at St. Paul’s. Toler had academic problems coming out of high school in the Washington D.C. area. Now, he’s six credits shy of earning a degree. “I didn’t take my classes very seriously at that time,” Toler said. “I was working at a JC Penney. I couldn’t see myself doing that for my life, so I was blessed to go to St. Paul’s. I don’t have any regrets. It’s a small, isolated school where you can concentrate on academics and football. “The strength of my game is that I’m a cover cornerback. I’ll come up and tackle, too. I want to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL one day. I grew up watching Champ Bailey and Deion Sanders, and those are my favorite cornerbacks
