16 games is already a brutal season. Adding one more would somehow seem unbalanced, adding two more would be inhuman.

You would also only need to average 55.6 yards per game to rush or catch for 1,000 yards, so that barrier would become even more meaningless.

Dump two crappy preseason games by all means, but leave the regular season at 16.

The Jets never seem ready for week 1 and that's with 4 preseason games. How shitty are we gonna look with only 2?

The only benefit I see is that we were already paying full price for preseason games, at least we'll get real games out of them now.

Are you going to blame that on the whole organization or the coaching staff? Hardly any of the starters are getting work the last 2 weeks.

If not being ready is a concern, make training camp 2 weeks longer.

Are you a season ticket holder? If so, do you actually go to and enjoy those games? I'm just wondering, my friends usually spend those games in the parking lot.

Good point about the records. But the NFL loves when records get broken, because it makes the games more appealing. Maybe since we saw our first 16-0 team and our first 0-16 team recently, maybe they want to extend the season so perhaps we can get an 18-0 regular season team.

    True...good call, man.

I guess if the NFL allows an increase in the roster limit to supplement the extra games ....that may alleviate issues regarding the injury bug affecting team rosters.

Good idea, pre-season games are a waste of time...especially the 4th game against Andy Reed where he doesn't use any starters...

This could change the game--and it would be good. That is, maybe you have to sit your starters for a game midseason to give them rest. It makes the bench more meaningful. It adds another element of strategy to the game.

Also, you guys realize that the league went from 14 to 16 games not that long ago right? Jim Brown's records were 14 games--so was OJ, I believe. It didn't kill the game or hurt it at all.

I wouldn't blame it on the organization but I'm just saying it's been like that for nearly the last decade. (sans 2004 maybe)

I'm a season ticket holder but I work upstate until late August and have a day or two between that and going back to school so someone else usually goes in my place for preseason games. If I was home I'd probably go to them and get really drunk.

Ugh. I'm on board with those against this. Injuries are already on the rise in the league. You're taking away two games that are generally used to evaluate talent, which hurts young players trying to make a roster, and adding two extra games onto what is already a very brutal season for players' bodies. This is only good for the owners. I'm not sure fans will even be as thrilled about this when you have RBs retiring after 6 years in the league.

Thats great news! Now there will only be a couple worthless preseason games and more that count. What is there not to love about this?

it was changed in like 1978....where as football wasnt nearly as popular as it is now. there are 30 + years of stats that would be usless with the additional games

It's all about money. More money for the owners, more money for the players and more money for the networks.

Maybe they will had 1 game to the season and have every team play in a different country once a year. This way each team will still have 8 home games.

A PSL would look like a bargain for 18 games.

Seriously, imagine you are a player who has a long term contract in place for seasons past 2011. Do you ask to restructure your contract because you are playing 2 extra games? I would.

That's like your boss asking you to work a 50 hour week and get paid for 40.

Remove 2 preseason games and add an additional bye week. This would actually help with player longevity and injury recovery IMHO.
