Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Greene in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th yes I rather take a WR at that spot or even another NT like Brace
Have you heard anything about brace from his pro day? I don't know a lot about him , just from his tape which is hard to tell because Raji dominated offensive lines. I wouldn't mind a massive NT like Brace in the second.
Broncos have already signed I think 3 RB's so while Moreno is better then all of them I'd be surprised to see them going tailback in the first round.
Right now, it looks like he'll be a beast at going on the IR. Wells can't stay healthy, other than that he's a great back. As a team that plays a lot of cold weather games, the Jets need a durable back.
O.K. If Gilbert is the target, I think we should trade down. Here is my proposal...... We trade #17 to Detroit plus our 4th rounder for #20 and Detroit's 3rd rounder. I checked it on the trade value chart and it is close(might have to throw in next year 6-7). I think we can get a real good WR or RB with that pick. The draft would then go Gilbert, RB(Brown or Green), Ramses Barden.
I'll give you three quick flaws: 1. He's not fast -- I don't know if he'll be able to bounce it outside in the pros. 2. He's not good, or should I say proven receiver -- only 11 career receptions. 3. He's supposedly dumber than a box of rocks -- it could be hard for him to pick up a lot of pro schemes.
His speed is underestimated, he wont be able to bounce the runs he did in college, but he can surprise ya. For #2, we have Leon who can catch, even though you would take the element of surprise of screens when Greene would be in. #3 Ill give ya, lol. And yes, these are in fact flaws, even if I try and dodge around them. But I would still be very happy with him in the second.
1 and 2 are legitimate concerns, his speed is not there, and I am not overly impressed with his ability to demolish would be tacklers, not in the same leauge as the classic big back. 2 I think he will be used as purely a runner so this is a concern only if you need an all around back, he won't be that. 3 is a useless category for RBs, Gore has an IQ high enough to be able to tie his shoes and feed himself and he does fine just hitting the hole, there are quite a few stump dumb runners and they do okay, or well just being able to use their field vision.
Learning the scheme is a useless category for tailbacks? Really? Gore was eased in -- he averaged less than 10 carries a game as a rookie. I know some of it had to do with his durability concerns, but he did have a full season to grasp the pro game and the Niners scheme before becoming a starting tailback.
At this point assuming Jones does not piss around for too long Greene would be in the same boat. I am just saying that RB is not near the scholar position as many others. Also, don't you remember "The Program", Darnell had a hell of a time in school but could still take it to the house.
I wish Gholston had a bit more Lattimer in him, or maybe thats why he was so good in college. The Program and Higher Learning, they dominated my movie watching in Grade 9, they both had Darnell and Latimer
Can't argue with the first round pick, but we desperately need to deal with a wide receiver situation that we have neglected for far too long.
