This is if Sanchez is gone, which I think he will be... 1. Jarron Gilbert 2. Knowshon Moreno 3. Sean Smith And for number 52 if Hakeem Nicks doesn't drop that far: 1. Brian Robiskie 2. Ziggy Hood 3. Ron Brace I'm also somewhat warming up to the idea of taking Percy Harvin at #17, as apparently he ran really crisp routes at his pro day. Route running was one of my main concerns about his ability to succeed at the next level.
1st round pick: 1. Andre Smith 2. Jarron Gilbert 3. Chris Wells 2nd round pick: 1. Kenny Britt 2. Derrick Williams 3. Larry English 3rd round pick: 1. Louis Murphy 2. Herman Johnson 3. Jonathan Casillas
Alex Mack, California is the OL I'd be most happy with. Draddy winner so he's really smart. Super strong too - put up 40 reps at his pro day. Just everything you want in a lineman.
Nice point. I think we've invested too much money in the offensive line to spend a first round pick on one though. Look out for a versatile player that can play guard or tackle starting in the 3rd round. Eastern Michigan's TJ Lang and Wisconsin's Kraig Urbik are two guys that could be around in the 4th round and are powerful run-blockers that can play both tackle and guard.
Mr. E, just out of curiosity, if andre smith is still on the board, and you had to pick between both offensive lineman, which do you pick?
I know your asking Mr. E ... but to me Unger is the "safest" pick on the board at OL (that late in the first round) ... because of his versatility. Will he be the best .. no .. but he will play at a high level at whatever position he lands at (most likely Center depending on the team). Andre Smith is that player with so much upside that its hard to imagine him busting .... until of course he does. I feel that Smith will get his shit figured out ... or at least you hope he does. Hate to see that much potential go to waste. I also can't imagine him lasting until 17.
That's simple - Andre Smith. Plug him in at right tackle and we're set... Andre Smith got a pretty bad wrap around here for his immaturity, but he's still a top three offensive lineman. I still believe the Lions will pass on a quarterback and take Eugene Monroe or Jason Smith. Both Jason Smith and Monroe should go in the top five -- if Smith falls past the Bengals and the Redskins, all the way to our pick, he'll be a huge steal. We're talking about a top-talent, a guy that was being considered as the first overall pick before the combine, falling into the late teens of the first round. If Andre Smith is there at 17, you take him...and never look back.
Round 1 #1. Moreno- TJ has 2 more seasons left. #2. Nicks/Britt- WR is our number one need #3. Beatty- Woody is the best utility offensive lineman in the league and has played every spot on the OL, but he isn't a great pass blocker. Round 2 #1. Jarron Gilbert- Adds instant depth to DE/DT #2. Sean Smith- Adds competition to the CB unit, and can add dimensions to DC blitzing schemes #3: Brian Robiskie- Best technically sound, and intelligent WR in the draft
What's with the Gilbert orgasm goin around? I really don't care who we get for once. I have faith in the FO and I'm sure we will get a good value guy. That being said here's mine. 1.Maclin 2.Sanchez 3.T.Jackson
to add to that - Unger was compared to our own nick mangold in terms of how he plays. Unger is going to have a nice career.
http://draftguys.com/index.php/articles/dgtv_1/jarron_gilbert_video/ 1st RD: 1. Chris "Beanie" Wells RB 2. Percy Harvin WR 3. James Laurinaitis LB 2nd RD: 1. Jarron Gilbert DL 2. Lesean Mccoy RB 3. Duke Robinson OL *I think he could play at RT*
Mine: Mark Sanchez Josh Freeman Knowshon Moreno I think we absolutely have to go offense in the 1st. The D was greatly improved in FA, but we should go after a potential Franchise QB or our future starting RB.
