I don't like Moreno. To me, he's the third or fourth best RB in this draft. I'd rather have, in no particular order: Beanie Wells LeSean McCoy Donald Brown And I don't see Shonn Greene, Rashad Jennings, or Mike Goodson as a big step down.
you guys don't watch enough SEC football... knowshon to me is like a younger thomas jones. why are we going to draft something we already have when we have more pressing needs? He's not very fast...and if you watched him against real SEC defenses you'd know that. also, he was able to overpower alot of people in college but i doubt that'll translate in the NFL. he's decent out of the backfield and has good vision, but you guys are absolutely nuts to take him at 17. McCoy is way better than him. Wells? Hard to say because I really think the Big Ten is overrated as fuck..
I watch plenty of SEC football...and I can tell you this: Knowshon Moreno is the best, most proven back in 2009's draft. I'm a huge Shady McCoy fan, but Moreno is a better value in the first. Wait a second, you're going to knock Wells for playing in the Big 10 and not mention that LeSean McCoy played in the Big East, which is a much worse conference. Moreno was very, very productive in the SEC, which is the best conference in college ball. Moreno ran for 100 or more yards in 5 of UGA's 8 SEC games. So what if he's not the fastest guy, he uses a variety moves to make players miss. His power should translate over to the next level - with a full head of steam, Moreno should be able to over-power most NFL defensive backs. It's not like he tries to run over defensive linemen.
I think LeSean is the best RB in the draft so if we pick him whether that be in the 1st or 2nd i wouldnt have a problem with it. Knowshon is the 2nd best very solid and i think he can be a similar runner to edge james when he first came out(as someone said before). The argument that we should pick Wells because he's a bruiser makes no sense, Jones is getting up there in age so we should pick the best RB available.
If were going with RB I do want Moreno (also since he is a jets fan it's even better lol) Moreno is like a Marshawn Lynch
Who said I was referring to you? I was just making a point that everytime someone mentions a different 1st round prospect it's like a bunch of sheep jumping from one bandwagon to the other.
Knowshon Moreno would be a great pick at 17. This kid can run. A friend of mine son played with him in high school and said he does amazing things with the football in his hands. From what ive seen I believe him.
I didn't sense that, but that's me. I don't think many posters here are saying we have to draft Moreno. The thread was started, IMO, about considering Moreno. The author (Jabba) probably felt with the Jone's contract crap and not showing up Monday...Moreno is a possibility. I think he's a viable option at #17, but he's not my first choice, if he's the pick I won't be disappointed. There are about 5 players I have targeted in Rd 1 for the Jets, Moreno is one. There are going to be quite a few players to choose from at 17. I believe everyone has a right to discuss a player the Jet's might consider.
Something that I dont think was metioned about him was that his lateral quickness is great he changes directions on a dime.
I like Moreno alot b/c what makes him so good isn't elite speed or power..but rather his lateral quickness and vision. That is ALOT harder for a defense to stop than the latter 2. W/ Rex wanting to implement a dominant running game..and w/ the potential TJ issues...I wouldnt be surprised to see Moreno or Brown in jet green. I'm also high on Leshean mccoy.
As per ESPN report he didnt have a good day. Beanie Wells was quicker. No worries Moreno at 17 is ok with me.
I heard he ran a disappointing 40, low 4.5's or a 4.6, so no improvement on his combines 40's, but I also heard he looked terrific in agility/football drills I don't know if that's true, but assuming it is ... Its pretty much the satus quo for Moreno .. terrific football player who runs a sub par 40 The Question you have to ask is ... 1. Does he play faster than he clocks in the 40 Yard dash? 2. If not, can you live with a feature back who does everything well except run really fast? Lastly, MC is right, if Moreno ran in the 4.4's he probably wouldn't have been there for the Jets at 17, precisely because he impresses in every other regard .. so his sub par 40's are probably the only reason Moreno is even in play for the Jets That doesn't mean we should or shouldn't take him .. for me it always depends on who is left on the board .. but much like Harvin I wouldn't rule Moreno out and it wouldn't take me long to get excited about the pick if the Jets did take him
Maybe Moreno threw his 40-time to ensure that he'd be there at 17... Anyway, if he's really as big a Jets fan as he says he is, we *have* to take him at 17. He already plays at 110% from what I've seen, and he'll play even harder for his favorite team.
Sure I'd like it if Moreno ran a 4.39. Everyone wants their backs to have breakaway speed. But the biggest thing for me is that Moreno had 2 huge years in the toughest college football conference. The SEC is the closest thing the NFL has to a farm league. And Moreno ran wild with over 1300 yards, 14 TD and 5+ YPC each year. That's outstanding. So I think the kid is likely to put up good if not great numbers as a pro, regardless of him not being able to burn up a running track.
