Yo - were you at South when Mr. Mulevey (sp?) was principal? I remember the Peters brothers, but can't remember if Mulevey was principal then. He was my neighbor and his littlest kid had the coolest bike in the neighborhood - sorry for the non sequitar.
Well, I guess small was a bad choice of words. He definitely not a bruiser, and for the type of back he is, I would like him to have more speed.
Moreno is actually a pretty powerful runner. He's an angry runner, always fighting for that extra yard. He's one of those backs that sees the endzone on every carry.
Not sure, but I thought I heard him in an interview and he said he was a Cowboy's fan. My take on Moreno........he's excellent catching the ball out of the backfield, has decent speed, not great, will get caught from behind. Stronger than his size indicates and fights for extra yardage. Very elusive and makes defenders miss. Can be that every down back. My favorite back in this draft and should be available when the Jets are OTC, McCoy is a close second...with Beanie a distant 3rd. Plus, Moreno is a great kid, with his head on straight and will be a leader, almost has that Curtis Martin "air" to him.
ive loved moreno as a second offensive option to WR. being that Maclin will might be a Raider or Jaguar and Nicks shit the bed at his pro day I'd be extatic to get Knowshon Moreno. I LOVED watching him run in college. absolute beast. had no idea he was a huge jets fan though which makes me even crazier.
ugh, I need to watch more college football. That so wasnt the type of runner I saw in him. Fuck my life.
First off, excellent profile on the prior page .. I may have emphasized his "wiggle" (cut-backs) a little more because I think he has some nice Jukes, but we're not talkin Tony Dorsett and other than that I think your profile was dead on the money Having said that, the profile you wrote is very similar to the profile I may have written about Emmitt Smith when he came out of Florida, and that's who Moreno reminds me of, Emmitt Smith But of course I mean Emmitt the Gator and not Emmitt the Cowboy .. its just not fair to compare any kid to the NFL's All-Time leading rusher .. but I remember Emmitt at Florida and that's who Moreno reminds me of as he prepares to enter the NFL, and obviously that's a really good thing for Moreno, but your profile is a virtual carbon copy of a profile I would have written for Emmitt at that time and these two players are very similar in size & style So if someone asked me for an NFL Player, past or present, Moreno resembles, I would say Emmitt Smith Also, much like Moreno, there was a disparity between Emmitt's 40 time and Emmitt's "game speed" .. he played faster than he clocked, and IMO so does Knowshon Moreno
MO, as I said in my prior post, I think E's profile was dead on the money in regards to performance and heart, I would only add that I really like his cut-backs too, I think he can run you over or make you whiff and look bad .. but again, I'll keep it short because I concur with Mr. E's profile
For reference, Emmitt was chosen with the 17th pick of the draft in 1990....just saying  Damn good comparison though Jabba. Both Smith and Moreno were/are truly jacks of all trades, but really masters of none. One thing about Moreno that really impresses me is his football instincts. He always seems ready for things to happen before everything actually falls in to place. One top of that, of the multiple times I've seen him play, I've never really seen him make the wrong decision of where to go; he always seems to hit the right hole at the right time to gain the most amount of yardage.
Thanks MO, but I have to return the compliment because that is a great observation .. the most important thing for a RB is Good instincts and all of the Great Ones had "Great instincts", thus the old saying ... "GREAT RUNNING BACKS ARE BORN AND NOT MADE" And that's why the bigtime RB's almost always excel in the pros immediately .. where many other position players usually require way more grooming, if a RB has "IT" he usually excels right out of the box provided he's not injured or forced to sit behind a more establish RB, because the position is largely based on "instincts" and the Very Good to Great Ones don't need to learn it, they already have it .. in fact they can't learn it because you can't teach "running back instincts" That's what is meant by .. "Great Running Backs are Born and not Made" But you're right, Moreno seemingly has very good instincts as a running back, and maybe even better than very good
I'm curious as to the consensus on the board. Is Moreno tremendously better than other backs in the draft ? Is he head and shoulders a better runner than a guy we could get in the 3rd or 4th round ? I ask this because I think the Jets are in an enviable position. Yes the team needs to get a WR in this draft. But for the most part the team can go BPA with its first pick. And I'm wondering if Moreno is significantly better than other running backs. Especially compared to say, Jarron Gilbert as a DE. Because I'd love to choose a player that is a potential star at his position.
I took Moreno at #17 in my first mock over a month ago and the pick was laughed at. It is comical how people around here sway like branches in the wind when it comes to the Draft - every day there's a different bandwagon. Monkey see, monkey do.
Waaaah-waaah - I haven't said anything about wanting the Jets to draft a running back in the first. I think Moreno has a chance to be a very good pro back, but I'd rather see the Jets go in a different direction.
Me to I saw him play in HS & I have watched alot of Bulldog games over the last 2 years cause of him he is a NFL back. With him & Leon we would be set at RB for years.
All the scouting reports make him sound like CMart. Makes the first guy miss, good hands, will drop the shoulder (though Curt was excellent at knowing when to make the contact miss...)....
Well, I think your first mock was more highly bashed for gems such as or You suggested that Gholston will be moved back to DE in the 3-4 and that we should pass on reciver talent because of our QB issues. Not the greatest way to sart out your mock draft threads. You second version was much improved though.
