I am perfectly content with my three quarterbacks. Clemens played great against the Ravens when he had a subpar OL and an idiot at wideout named McCareins. Ratliff showed something in preseason but not enough to impress me. Ainge, if healthy is solid. He played for Tennessee, and was solid in college. Cutler is good, dont get me wrong, but if our situation at QB does not work out this season, then 2010 look at the QB prospects. Bradford. Tebow. McCoy. my choice is McCoy. thoughts?
http://www.nypost.com/seven/03182009/sports/jets/boomer__jets_gotta_go_jay_walkin_160143.htm According to Esiason in this article written by Cannizzaro, the Jets are looking to see what they can do to get Cutler. I agree with Boomer, this is a QB we can have for the next 10 years. You have to make this deal happen. This could propell us to that next level.
Thanks for creating another Cutler thread based upon soley your thoughts. Especially good when you consider that we didn't have ANY Cutler threads until yours came along. A true masterpiece!
If I was convinced about Cutler I'd give up this year's 1 and maybe a 2 next year but I'm not convinced. So far he is an INT machine who has never even been to the postseason. he's basically a younger version of the '00s version of Brett Favre(but at least favre would make the playoffs from time to time before he choked). W/ the type of D we will have we don't need another turnover machine, it killed our D last year. On the flip side, Cutler is only 3 years in and has all the physical tools while displaying flashes of a big time QB. These guys don't become available often assuming he can correct some early mistakes and truly become a big time QB. This is an incredibly difficult decision, I can see the views from both sides and I am not sold 100% either way.
He threw a lot of INT's last year (18) but he also had a ton of attempts (over 600). His INT's per attempt were 1:34 which isn't a bad number. He hasn't been to the post season in his 2 years as a starter because the defense has SUCKED. This year they had the 2nd ranked offense and 29th ranked defense.
This thread is valid because the story is renewed because Boomer the Idiot opened his mouth, so why not have another thread. Bottom line is Tannenbaum usually gets taken in situation's like this. Cutler could be great, but he's got some mental toughness issues and he's got Type 1 diabetes...so he's not a young 26. In other words, there's enough questions about him to make me want to pass. For an example on how to handle your business, see Chad Pennington every summer that Fatgini made him re-earn his job. No whining, no complaining. Just go out and show them why you're the number 1. I mean really...if Cutler were that good, why isn't all of Denver and the media jumping up and down on top of the Rookie Head Coach?
Peter King weighs in on the Cutler sweepstakes: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/03/17/mail/index.html?eref=T1
In '06 when the D was 8th in PA he was the strater down the stretch when they choked away a playoff spot.
I agree with almost everything you said, this is part of the reason I want no part of Cutler, the other is that we need a cerebral QB who will take care of the ball and just be willing to hand off the ball 35-40 times a game. Knowing damn well scoring every possession isnt the important thing. Cutler's head is too damn big to deal with that. I just have one question, what situation such has this occured during Tannenbaum's tenure that shows "he usually gets taken in situations like this" ?
He didn't get the job done. Denver was 7-4 when he took over and they finished 9-7. if you look at his #s from those 5 games they are very similar to the full season #s be produced the following 2 years. Similar rating, int %, YPA, ... I'm not saying the guy won't ever be good but he is severely overrated so far, he is like Brett favre 2008 and we don't need that. Where I am conflicted is he is still young and can get better. it's a big risk, like I wrote earlier I'm not sold either way. This is a very difficult decision.
