obviously, it's a totaly reasonable guess, but I don't like it for a couple of reasons. One, even if he replaces Jones, he's not the big, powerful, three yards-and-acloud-of-dust type back that I would prefer to pair with Leon. And second, I would rather spend an early pick on a 300-pounder, or 290-pounder named jarron Gilbert because backs tend to slide, you can find good backs later AND because we don't need a bellcow so much as a dependable compelement.

So I like Moreno, but I'm not in favor of drafting him at 17.

Moreno played for Middletown South and wasn't even close to being the best back that ever played there. Unfortunately the best back wasn't smart enough to go to college..anywhere. Middletown South also put out the Peter brothers, Jason and Christian. Ironically they were the best athlete in that family either. The best football player was their brother who hurt his neck diving into a pool in the summer of his senior year in high school.

Early 90's. I'm not sure anymore but I think his name was Phillips. I lived in Middletown at the time and watched him and the Peters play. If you live in Holmdel then you might know that the Peter's father owned Fromagerie in Rumson along with his brother forever. His name was Stephen Pitts and it was late 80's-early 90's that he played. Moreno broke his single game rushing record but I believe Pitts still has the single season and career TD records. Can't find it anywhere now though.

That is before my time I lived in New York back than anyway I think it would be great if the Jets got him. I think he is better than Wells & Jones is old & is trying to get more money I would not give him a penny.

I'd welcome Moreno in first round now. I'd rather have him then any of the other non-top 2 WR prospects on behalf of Hakeem Nicks' performance. IMO that could put him in contention to be around when we pick in the 2nd..

But apparently TJ is getting into a contract dispute now. And while I still believe he has at least a couple good seasons left, it might be a good idea to bring in Moreno... But please, please, please... Don't draft Chris Wells!

I really like knowshon. Hell, I like him so much me and my football buddies named the sport after him. We coined the term, " Yo, lets Knowshon"

Knowshon (v.) - The act of playing football with baller ability; To play football; To do anything physical regarding football.

With that said, I hope he runs well. For his size, I dont know how successful a back as small as him can be by only running a 4.6. He clearly is a shifty back with great vision, and runs very instinctive. However he wont be able to separate at the next level if 4.6 truly is his top out speed.

Personally I'm interested in hearing from some of our resident draft gurus on Moreno...WW, Mr. E, Jabba, etc. I know at least a few of the guys here like Shady more, but I've never heard their views on Knowshon, and I personally respect their opinions much more than any of the "draft gurus" around the net and many of the personalities on TV.

If we aren't gonna take Freeman or Sanchez, Moreno would be my next choice.

I just think Britt and Nicks can be had in the late 1st, and I don't like DHB at all. If we really like one of them, a trade up could definitely happen.

I love having RB's. RB's and CB'S, cant have enough of them. So yes Moreno would be awesome at 17, especially cause hes a Jets fan. I would love Wells, Moreno, McCoy, and even Greene at 17.

Knowshown is great, but as a few others have mentioned the Jets would be better off drafting Beanie Wells.

In any case I think it's irrelevant--I just get the feeling that the first rounder is going to be used on a QB (I don't have too much evidence, just a strong hunch. Take it for what you will.)

I know Chris Baker grew up as a Jets fan.

I think Bryan Thomas was a Jets fan because his father was a Jets fan.

I like Shady better, and if he slid to the second it would be a way better option

Who is this Shady guy I keep hearing about? By process of elimination, my best guess is the Pitt RB. Am I correct and, if so, how did he get the nickname? Black Eminem?

Where did this theory come from that you have to have a bruiser type back to pair with a shifty speed type back? Knowshon is a better RB than Wells period, it would be a terrible mistake to take Wells solely because he is more of a bruiser type back. I've been interested in Moreno for years, saw him play in HS and followed his career at Georgia. Would love to see him on the Jets next year.

Knowshon Moreno has everything you look for in a franchise back, except breakaway speed:

    Size: 5'11 217

Toughness/Tackle Breaking Ability: Almost never goes down on the first hit - always makes the first guy miss. Moreno never, ever backs down...lowering his shoulder into any player he feels he can bulldoze. Player through a bunch of minor injuries.

Heart: Best attitude I've seen out of a running back, ever. He's one of those rare players that makes everyone around him better.

Running-style: Angry runner that lowers his shoulder A LOT. Smart back that hits the hole hard and knows when to bounce it outside. Moreno is a complete back - able to run inside and outside. Almost never fumbles the ball. Like I said earlier, he doesn't have breakaway speed, but he runs for 10-20 yard gains constantly.

I can definitely see Moreno as a feature back in the NFL. He reminds me of other big time SEC backs like Cadillac Williams, Darren McFadden, and Ronnie Brown.

To me, it looks like Moreno can get up to 225-230 without losing speed -- he needs to be drafted by a team that will ease him in slowly.
