I know it would probably be considered a reach...but I think Donald Brown is going to be a fantastic RB. He reminds me of Curtis Martin. Would love to grab a top notch game breaker to split carries with Leon. I think TJ is the man, but he is 31 years old and has over 500 touches the past two seasons, Father time is creeping up on him, and we have a young RB who needs more touches plain and simple. If we don't draft a RB in round one, perhaps Leon Washington deserves his shot at a 150-200 carry season. Everyone talks about how great he is...perhaps he could turn into a tiki barber and become a full time RB?
I posted this in another thread; I certainly wouldn't mind Moreno, but there should be good value available in round 2 as well, with LeSean McCoy and Donald Brown possibly being there due to the lack of demand for RBs in the league.
he only wants a new contract not to be released so why not. I say he's still got 4 years left in the tank.
he is already running on borrowed time, running backs typically fade away by 30 and he is 31, id say maybe another season till he is done being effective
If they give TJ any incremental new $, they're crazy. The statistics about breaking down after 30 are undeniable.
Exactly. That is why San Diego and LT almost had to part ways. Frankly I was shocked when the two parties were able to come to an agreeement. All of the great ones even break down early.
I think he will be there in the second...i like him a lot to. I would love both UCONN's D. Brown in the second, and C.Brown in the 4th.
Yup'. He will be the Next Shawn Alexander, remember him from the Seahawks? Monster career year, signed Big new contract, then fell off the radar into the Pacific Ocean. I love TJ, but a big NO to a new contract. Some bonus laden goals maybe, but not much more.
The shelf life of an NFL player is extremly short. Who could bitch about TJ wanting to get what he can while he can. He knows his careers almost over. Wouldn't you want to make as much as you could at your job? The guy's coming off one of his best years. It's now or never.
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2009/03/the-cutler-did-it.html Interestingly, RB Thomas Jones didn't show up on Day 1. That could mean something or it could mean nothing. It's a non-mandatory camp (wink, wink) and he could show up tomorrow for his first workout. But it's believed that Jones, due to make a modest $900,000 after winning the AFC rushing title, is looking for a new contract. Did his absence have something to do with the contract? Don't know. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn't return a call. Jones has two years remaining on his contract that averages $5 million a year.

Just a thought.
If I were the Jets I would be looking to get another RB anyway if they want to have a power running game. Jones is 31 but one thing to remember is that he didnt become an every down back until 2004. So he doesnt have the same wear and tear on him that most 31 year old starting RB's do. But at the end of the day he is still 31. I wouldnt have a problem if the Jets gave him a new contract. Just as long as it isnt anything ridiculous.
you sign a contract and you should live up to it when guys under perform teams don't ask for money back what happens more often? guys out perform their contract or their contract overpays them? probably the later
