EXCELLENT stuff. Can't wait to check out some of the info. I hope after the draft we get some names, I'd really love to make that info more concrete.

That was cool. What team do you think the scout was from?

good read, would love to know who the block head is. Also when he was talking about smokescreens, i'm curious to know who those two players were. but yeah Great read overall.

Michael Crabtree came off as very dopey when I heard him talk.

Yeah I think it could be M. Crabtree too... he does not sound like the smartest kid on the block... maybe Brian Orakpo but I haven't heard that much from him. Someone i really HATE as far as attitude/love for himself is Darius Butler.... oh my god I hate him!!!!

I've heard Orakpo talk and break down film, he's actually a pretty smart guy. I think It was Crabtree, but I'm interested to see who the jesus freak was. hhah

overall, really good post. Good to see D. Brown get some props out of UConn, i've heard a couple of draft gurus and me talk about him on this board, the kid has got the total package to bring to a football team.

Also interesting to see that pro scouts see Andre Smith as one of the best run blockers to ever come out of college...really good post, thanks.

Yes, Orakpo seems to have some smarts. I could definitely envision Cleveland drafting him.

I think the "dumb" prospect could be Michael Oher. It's no secret that he has intelligence concerns.

Great Stuff! This really gets my curiosity:

JR: So are there any players who you have found to be, shall we say, disappointing in the interview room or off-camera?

Scout: Well I don’t want to give out his name, but we talked with a kid in Indy that most everyone thinks is a real high first round pick. And he was dumber than a fencepost. We asked him about school and classes and stuff like that and he was like, enough already, I’m done with that (excrement), where is my paycheck... Another kid we had in just didn’t get it. Everything was Jesus. Get him off Jesus and he might as well be a deaf-mute. Jesus wants you to answer a question without him, son. Real odd too, because his agent is Jewish (laughs).

It's pretty obivouis the scout is a Mid-West Scout.

Something that caught my eye, Delmas knew the type of defense of that Scout's NFL team. Spoke very highly of Delmas, something I was very happy to hear. The Scout could be from the Jets.........you can eliminate quite a few teams from both interviews....he bashes a few NFL players. No Scout would speak poorly about their own player.

I'm trying really hard to figure out who the scout works for, just for the hell of it. I'm ruling out teams slowly but surely:

"Look at the Marshall kid in Denver." Not Denver.
"The Giants are noted for drafting guys they haven’t met with. How much emphasis does your team place on meeting with a player privately?" Not the Giants.
"(The GM) has been so busy with free agents and working contracts that he hasn’t spent much time on the draft yet." Not the Packers.
"The Titans were winning in spite of him..." Not Tennessee.
"I haven’t made up my mind on Beanie just yet...Second pick, well, the Bengals take Beanie Wells." Not the Bengals.
"He’s better than the Dizon kid the Lions took." Not Detroit.
"And you know what, he wound up not working out too well for the team that took him and we’re very happy with our pick. (Note: he told me the players involved, and his comments are a major understatement)." Not Oakland.
"(Our team) almost never considers defensive backs as a top 10 pick." Not Washington.

    It isn't Buffalo either.
Not the pats... their scouts wouldn't talk to anyone, not even anonymously.
If their GM isn't a big film watcher, it can't be a lot of teams - I'd pick Baltimore, the Colts, Eagles, and Chargers as teams the scout doesn't work for.

    So whos left?

    Fins
    Jets
    Browns
    Steelers
    Texans
    Jags
    Dallas
    Bears
    Vikings
    Falcons
    Panthers
    Saints
    Buccaneers
    Cardinals
    Rams
    Seattle

Still half the league is out there.

The free agent comment intrigues me, which teams are enamored with FAs and may not have a film watcher at the GM spot?

    The Jets are a possibility...

    We will never know.

I tell you, If I was a GM and my scout was talking to the media, unnamed or not, I wouldn't be pleased. Loose lips sink ships!!!

Scouts should have taken an written oath to keep their info confidential....some Teams let their Scouts talk....I think it's a very bad idea.

I mean if its anonymous, it really doesnt hurt does it? He really didnt say a whole lot about prospects that we didnt know... just a few comments about one guy being dumber than a fencepost, who he failed to name so he really didnt reveal much overall. It was a great read, but as you said best you could do is narrow this guy down to like 10 teams based on his comments alone.... And for all we know, one of the comments was a set-up to say thats not my team....

Anyways, where were these interviews held? that could help narrow down the list of teams even more....

Here's the first question of the second interview.....

Jeff Risdon: Since we?re in Kalamazoo, your thoughts on Louis Delmas and Londen Fryar.

The Scout travel the Mid-West. All 32 teams have a regional scouts.

As far as the scout being anonymous, I get that, but stuff can leak and if it does....you are giving away how a Team feels about players. Example...The Scout loves Delmas, if a team just below finds how this info, they could trade up and steal your coveted player. This is all my opinion, If I was director of scouting or a GM...no interviews from my scouting staff.
