If the FO somehow pulled something out of their ass and work out a 3-team trade where the Broncos get a decent/good QB and all we cough up is our 1st for Cutler, I'd go with it in a heartbeat. But as it stands right now, I don't see what we can offer the Broncos for Cutler without getting ass-raped, whether that would be trading away players or picks.
I don't think the McDaniels/Belichick relationship is anything close to the Mangini/Beli relationship. Beli had nice things to say about Josh and vice versa. That wasn't the case with Mangini. McDaniels is an idiot cause he shouldn't have even entertained the idea. He already has a proven Franchise QB who has chemistry with his receivers. If anything, this shows me how unsure Josh is with the new HC gig. It shows Josh doesn't trust in his abilities to coach up a player without Belichick as a safe net. If I were the owner of the Broncos, I'd be pretty fucking pissed.
Josh McDaniels = Eric Mangini? He's already showing the same level of ineptitude and the season's still 6 months away!
I was on board with your line of thought....till the Cassel trade went down. Why would Belichick snub McDaniels? If there wasn't a hint of animosity there....I think Cassel would've been dealt to Denver. There's talk that McDaniels wanted Cassel because he wanted to hit the ground "running" with his program, which is admirable...he wants to win right away. I think he went about it the wrong way....with the handling of Cutler....but his intentions are valid. It's really no worse than Rex wanting to bring in his own players to the Jets. In McDaniels' case....it blew up in his face.
I wouldn't compare Ryan to McDaniels on the notion of bringing in their own players. Scott is an upgrade over Barton and Leonhard is an upgrade over Smith. I don't think Cassel is an upgrade over Cutler, but that is my opinion. If what you're saying is true, and McDaniels wanted to implement the same offense he had in New England, he should've focused on the OL and RB's, not the QB. Just further proof (at least to me) that this kid doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.
oh...I was just comparing their intentions. I totally agree with bringing in Scott/Leonard. I think Cassel is a piece of overrated garbage. It was merely an observation as to why i could see McDaniels trading Cutler to the Jets...and why he wanted to trade Cutler in the first place. I wasn't disagreeing with you, bud....just forecasting why things happened and what COULD happen. McDaniels' signed 3 RBs (Buckhalter, Arrington and L.Jordan).....maybe he'll address the oline in the draft?? He may turn out to be a decent HC....but his handling of Cutler has been atrocious to say the least.
How do you know that? The only information that we've had is that Cutler is upset enough that he's considering sitting out the offseason program...sounds like a situation to me. Not necessarily enough to force a move, but there's definitely some discomfort there (if not, why has nobody bothered to say otherwise to the media?) If the Jets could get Cutler they'd have no choice but to do it. That said, they can't. The asking price would be at least 2 first rounders, which is incredibly steep. It would be very hard to fit him under the cap (I assume he'd want a new contract if he were dealt.) This mess has McDaniels on the hot seat already, I somehow doubt that he's going to go into his first season without a QB.
He a good Qb - but dont want him here in NY ...we are heading to the draft with what we have i believe and building from there.
i really would have no problem giving a 1st, 3rd, and possibly even a later pick for cutler.. hes a stud.. and with our QB as questionable as it is.. can you afford to pass up on that.. but the thing is neither team is talkin to each other.. so the possibility of this happening is slim.. but if given the offer.. i think it would be great for the jets.. you come out of the daft with cutler and a WR in the second round... and with the depth at WR that this draft class has.. its not a bad drop off at all...
And how long after we traded for Cutler would it take you guys to complain that he has no one to throw to?
I would give up 1st round pick nothing else really. Hes good but one mans trash is another mans treasure
umm... prob after the first game..becuz up until then we will pretend like stuckey, and clowney both have potential to be amazing.. like we do with every unproven player we have on our team.. until the season starts and they drop balls and we lose...
Here we go again! This reminds me of the draft year he came out. To Me Cutler has shown nothing. He made the playoff's whoopti-doo. In his play off performance's he's been in situations to win and failed. I?m the lunatic who keeps wishing for Donavan McNabb and I am still in that boat! By signing a young and slightly seasoned quarter back you cut off any growth for those on the roster (Ratliff, Clemens) if we went with a real Vet 2-3 year deal, we may just see what we have in the cupboard a few years down the line.
I Was very comfortable with letting our guys battle it out but that was before hearing that Cutler might be available. I'd give whatever it took to get him here. Not even a second thought about it. I'd say trade Clemens and the 1st to get him or whatever else it took.
