This was like having a trojan horse rolled into Buffalo. The only thing to be seething about is that it would have been more explosive if rolled into NE with Moss

We had no money for him and even if we did it could have been spent more wisely than on TO. The plan is probably to draft a receiver. Then instead of paying somebody 6.5 mil we will be paying 400 grand and a year's worth of prorated bonus money. Neither will be great in their first year anyway. Besides, we still don't have a QB anyway.

How did this end up as two identical threads with the same posts and different titles?

I think we will draft a WR first too. Young QBs meet young WRs and grow together. Meanwhile the D beds in and works out whos a fit and who isn't.
Why is always next season ?

T.O. on the decline is better than our wr---we have cotch-and stuckey---they strike fear into the heart of any jet fan--knowing we are taking the field with these two---prob the worst duo of any team

we should have signed T.O. what else do we have to lose?????? no sb appearences in 40 years-----that is a disgrace

    Fail.

I think we all got to see a lot of the Cowboys last season as they unjustifiably were on TV enough. T.O. dropped more balls than Braylon Edwards.

Getting TO and pairing him with one of our 3 kid Qb's would have been a recipie for disaster. That move would have forced us to sign a Garcia and set the development of our young Qb's back another year. It also most likely would have poisoned the minds of our young Wr's as well. TO is better on a veteran team and even at that, he's usually bitching about something or everything within 2 years of signing a contract.

Let him go poison the Bills and move on to his next demolition job. TO's nickname should be "The Destroyer"..

Any chance to rag on the Jets, the media does so. How come no other team wanted him. Are we the only team that did not win a Super Bowl? Its just never ends. Check out this one from the GIANTS writer.

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/03/needell_shame_ol_jets.html

The bumbling, stumbling Jets simply can't help themselves.

Owner Woody Johnson and his right-hand henchman, Matt Higgins, the team's VP of business operations, Thursday laid out their plan to cut costs in these terrifying economic times.

They expect us to applaud because, unlike several other NFL franchises and even the mighty league office, the Jets are not laying off any employees. Instead, they are forcing 60 employees on the business side of the organization to take an unpaid leave for two weeks in June and July.

None of these employees are believed to make anything approaching $100,000. Many probably make half that amount, yet get by in one of the most expensive living areas in the country.

So let's figure two weeks of docked pay for these "Sad 60" saves the Wood Man $100,000. Or let's be generous and say it saves the Jets $150,000. Or even a whopping $200,000.

In terms of cost-savings for a team that just spent $48 million on free-agent linebacker Bart Scott, this is beyond an embarrassment. Do the people making these decisions live anywhere approaching the real world?

The Giants, with the same costs for the billion-dollar-plus new stadium they will share with the Jets in 2010, also have spent generously in free agency thus far. They also employ average folks living in the same high-priced area.

Yet they are resisting either layoffs or furloughs.

Once again, the Jets couldn't get this right. How can they be doing this to their staffers when the Giants are resisting the same action? It's unconscionable. But we've been well-trained to expect nothing more.

Same ol' Jets? To heck with that. "Shame ol' Jets," is more like it.

The media is pissed because it would have been a circus for them. They could have something crazy to write about all the time and sell a lot of papers. They know darn well what he is and what he brings. This is all about what they missed out on, not the Jets.

That is just so cynical, there's probably some truth to it.

You are no Jets fan, I can tell you that. Posting this drivel proves the point.

Synder laid off 20 people in Washington. The NFL offices in NYC tanked about 100 employees. It's a business. And, if you looked for an article and a writer that was not hell bent on negativity, you would find that the employees in question are actuall very happy about keeping their jobs in this economy.

I happen to know for a fact that the Jets have lost over $1,000,000 in corporate sponsorships already this year. I am in discussions with the Jets sales office about promotional opportunities, and those are the facts.

The NFL is a business. It has to be profitable. Woody could have fired every one of these people, but didn't, and for that he gets shit like this from fans like you and writers like this.

We have a new HC who hopefully will make this team great by making them play his way. Why the hell would we then bring in this cancer who's going to want to play another way?

I see your point, but it´s just unreal, that they increased the Cap by 3 million and now everyone around the league ist looking about where they can safe some thousand dollars by copping down the little man. 100k aren´t a big deal for Woody, but 2 weeks off unpaid are probably a big deal for some of the employees.

Mabe one of the players or coaches shows some heart and payes them their free time.

If either of those are QB this year, then IMO TO is the LAST thing you want, not the first. Even if TO still is a great player (debatable), to get him to play great you have to keep him in line, and to keep him in line you need a QB that has plenty of cred, and he won't lip back to. Not even McNabb could keep TO in line.

Mark my words, unless TE is lights out in Buffalo this year, at some point TO will mouth off about him and create lots of controversy.

Hey bro, I haven't worked 40 hours in a week since last summer. I have had the equivalent of many weeks of unpaid vacation in the past year. Right now I am very happy to still have a job.

I don't expect my company to reduce its quality of service in order to make sure I get my 40 hours every week. That type of thinking will ruin the entire company and cost everybody their jobs. Instead, we continue to provide excellent service, and are happy for the hours we get.

The team is doing the same.

I see your point, and I understand the economy, and that that stuff is necassery and better than to dump the employees, but it just seems so sureal for a buissnes like the Jets, who spend 120 millions a year on 53 employees, that 100k or something like that does really make a difference. Serve Woody and his buddys Hot Dogs, Burgers and Beer instead of Kaviar and Champange in the Box for a season, and you probably save more money.

I agree. Woody did his people a favor by giving them 2 weeks instead of the rest of the year off. Most businesses are going in that direction. Woody should be commended for saving these people's jobs instead of simply shitcanning the lot of them.
