I did the draft a little different the ones out there right there are pretty much all the same starting with Stafford so i changed it up a little bit.

    1st ROUND

    1. Detroit Lions- Jason Smith OT Baylor
Why not Stafford, you’ll find out later Detroit has something up their sleeves.

    2. St. Louis Rams- Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
With Stafford dropping they don’t hesitate to pull the trigger.

    3. Kansas City Chiefs- Aaron Curry ILB Wake Forest
The best overall player in the draft, Pioli gladly picks him up to play MLB in their new 3-4.

    4. Seattle Seahawks- BJ Raji DT Boston College
With the signing of TJ and Burleson and Branch already on the roster, I doubt the Seahawks spend even more money on a receiver; they need to help out that poor defense.

    5. Cleveland Browns- Brian Orakpo OLB
The Browns need some type of a pass rush and though they haven’t gotten it yet with Wimbley the pair could be a force in the future.

    6. Cincinnati Bengals- Eugene Smith OT Virginia
Someone to replace the aging Levi Jones, Anthony Collins probably plays RT.

    7. Oakland Raiders- Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
Best overall WR and completes the newest version of the triplets with him D-Mac and Russell.

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars- Vontae Davis CB Illinois
Vontae now the top corner in the draft replaces the bust that was Drayton Florence as the #2 corner behind Mathis.

    9. Green Bay Packers- Everette Brown OLB Florida State
Apparently put some weight back on so his stock hasn’t slipped and would fit perfectly with the new Packers 3-4 scheme.

    10. San Francisco 49ers- Michael Oher OT Ole Miss
Another guy to build up that o-line and could play right side and eventually move to the left.

    11. Buffalo Bills- Larry English DE Northern Illinois
Too high maybe not, I saw this pick somewhere else and it made sense. Buffalo usually picks the guys that they need/want wherever they are at (Donte Whitner, John McCargo). At this point DE is the #1 need and English is the highest player ranked at that position.

    12. Denver Broncos-Rey Mauluaga ILB USC
A guy to play next to DJ in the middle, considered a pass rusher but I think they are going to give Jarvin Moss a chance to play that 34 OLB (sort of like Bryan Thomas with us).

    13. Washington Redskins- Eben Britton OT Arizona
More help at that o-line, a guy who can play both left and right spots

    14. New Orleans Saints- Malcolm Jenkins CB/FS Ohio State
His stock has slipped but he should still be able to play that FS role with that the Saints.

    15. Houston Texans- Jeremy Maclin WR Mizzou -Another target for Shauab and to potentially takesome pressure of Andre Johnson

    16. San Diego Chargers- Andre Smith OT Alabama-He had a horrible combine but is still a great talent and could play RT immediately for Clarey.

    17. Detroit Lions (from New York) –Mark Sanchez QB USC-Well now we see why they chose Smith. Stafford hasn’t slipped but ask me who the safer pick is and I’ll choose Smith, I like Stafford but im not in love with. But hey I didn’t really like Ryan last year so I could be wrong. Doing this trade with Jets, the Lions jump right in front of the Bears and Bucs who could have possibly chosen Sanchez. Sanchez had a great combine a made all of the throws, doing this gives the Lions the best QB-LT option possible. What do the Jets get out this a 3rd rounder for their troubles (65th overall).

    18. Chicago Bears- Aaron Maybin DE Penn State- They have been lacking a consistent for a couple of years as Ogunleye and Brown and Anderson have fell off.

    19. Tampa Bay Bucs- Peria Jerry DT Ole Miss

    20. New York Jets (from Dallas thru Detroit) – Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina-The one most of us want here, I think he is one of the safer picks in the draft actually. Great hands decent speed, hopefully he can turn into an Anquan Boldin type player.

    21. Philadelphia Eagles- Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia-They need more weapons to help McNabb and top spot. Moreno didn’t have the great combine like Wells did but to me is the best RB available.

    22. Minnesota Vikings- Max Unger C/G –They just lost Matt Birk, so they need a replacement in their quick.

    23. New England Patriots- Brian Cushing LB USC- A Vrabel type who can play a number of positions.

    24. Atlanta Falcons- Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech-A boom or bust guy, who is really talented but will he put it all together.

    25. Miami Dolphins- Clay Matthews OLB USC-Another backer for Parcells to work with, this guy has risen up the draft but I like the guy why didn’t he play more at USC?

    26. Baltimore Ravens- Darius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland-They need a down field threat to help Flacco out, idk about his overall ability but I know he can do one thing and that’s go deep.

    27. Indianapolis Colts- Kenny Britt WR Rutgers
With no ther legitmate DT here they turn to another need , the #2 WR spot. Gives the Colts a tall target to mix with their already diverse receiving group.

    28. Philadelphia Eagles (from Carolina) –Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State-People have him completely out of the first round idk why, his game was never speed he can still get open and is the best overall TE in this class by far.

    29. New York Giants –James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State-Pierce is getting older and is a possible June 1st cut later on in the offseason. Laurinaitis is solid and should thrive with all that talent around him.

    30. Tennessee Titans- DJ Moore CB Vanderbilt –Nick Harper is getting
    older a replacement is needed.

    31. Arizona Cardinals-Alex Mack C Cal-Another guy to help that o-line out: best pure center in the draft.

    32. Pittsburgh Steelers- Sean Smith CB/S Utah –Whether they sign McFadden or not they need more depth in the secondary and a potential starter at S alongside Palumalu.

    2nd ROUND

    33. Detroit Lions- Darius Butler CB Connecticut
    34. New England Patriots (from Kansas City) – Louis Delmas S Western Michigan
    35. St. Louis Rams- William Beatty OT Connecticut
    36. Cleveland Browns- Chris Wells RB Ohio State
    37. Seattle Seahawks –Duke Robinson G Oklahoma
    38. Cincinnati Bengals-Robert Ayers DE Tennessee
    39. Jacksonville Jaguars- Percy Harvin WR Florida
    40. Oakland Raiders- Jamon Merideth OT South Carolina
    41. Green Bay Packers-Ron Brace NT Boston College
    42. Buffalo Bills-Jared Cook TE South Carolina
    43. San Francisco 49ers- Josh Freeman QB Kansas State
    44. Miami Dolphins (from Washington) –Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest
    45. New York Giants (from New Orleans) – Patrick Chung S Oregon
    46. Houston Texans- Jairus Byrd S/CB Oregon
    47. New England Patriots (from San Diego) – Connor Barwin OLB Cincinnati
    48. Denver Broncos-Tyson Jackson DE LSU
    49. Chicago Bears- Gerald McRath OLB Southern Miss
    50. Cleveland Browns (from Tampa Bay) – Rashad Johnson S Alabama
    51. Dallas Cowboys- William Moore S Mizzou
    52. New York Jets –LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh- My favorite RB in the draft; I while ago I didn’t think he could fall this far but showing up at 198 at the combine kind of hurt his stock and the lack of teams needing a RB now like Broncos and Bucs.
    53. Philadelphia Eagles- Phil Loadholt OT Oklahoma
    54. Minnesota Vikings-Victor Harris CB Virginia Tech
    55. Atlanta Falcons-Paul Kruger DE Utah
    56. Miami Dolphins- Brian Robiskie WR Ohio State
    57. Baltimore Ravens- Jarron Gilbert DE San Jose State :eek:hmy:(yeah i passed on him)
    58. New England Patriots-Andy Levitre G Oregon State
    59. Carolina Panthers-Sen’Derrick Marks DT Auburn
    60. New York Giants – Mike Mickens CB Cincinnati
    61. Indianapolis Colts- Evander Hood DE Mizzou
    62. Tennessee Titans- Clint Sintim OLB Virginia
    63. Arizona Cardinals- Donald Brown RB Connecticut
    64. Pittsburgh Steelers- Fili Moala DT USC

    3- Cody Brown OLB Connecticut
Another pass rusher who already has experience playing both DE and OLB

    3- Chris Baker NT Hampton
A new NT prospect has emerged with Baker adding weight, at 6’3 326 he has great size to be a NT.

    4- Mark Parson CB Ohio
I have no idea why he wasn’t invited to the combine, but I still love him as a potential starting corner.

5- Emmanuel Cook S South Carolina
If Cook is still here at this point it would be foolish not draft to pick him, I could care less about o-line depth at this point bpa all the way.

    6- Cameron Morrah TE
Replacement for Baker and another receiving threat

    7- Cedric Dockery G Texas
For the ones who wanted depth

No way Unger goes before Mack, especially about 10 picks. Mack is far and away the best C in the draft

He very well might go before him, Unger can play all 5 positions Mack can't play tackle at all.

I've always wanted the JETS to trade down, but I couldnt find a scenario or the team willing to trade up that made any sense. This is a decent suggestion. I would actually rather us pick up an extra pick for 2010 draft. We might need extra picks in 2010 depending what happens to our QB situation after the 2009 season.

    (Nice Font :breakdance:)

If the Lions pass on Stafford, it could be a huge mistake IMO. Even if they don't feel he's ready to be thrown into action, let Culpepper take the abuse for a while. But if not Stafford, Jason Smith would be the next best option and wouldn't be an awful choice..

I like Stafford to the Rams at #2 if he gets by Detroit..

Our top tens have many similarities. I also like BJ Raji to the Seahwaks at #4..

Woah there. Eleven too high for Larry English. I'd go with Maybin there if you're looking for a DE. Of course, the Bills have managed to make some surprise picks on draft day..

Interesting trade. Makes perfect sense, but would the Lions want to give up any picks given the holes they need to fill? If not them, maybe the Bucs or Vikings.. Nice trade.

I think Alex Mack goes ahead of Max Unger. He's the better center prospect. The only thing that would get him drafted higher is his versatility, which is extremely impressive and might be enough to let him surpass Mack, but I doubt it. And that's what's good about Unger to Minnesota. If they really do like 2008 draftee John Sullivan, Unger could slide over to RT.

Thank you for dropping Chris Wells out of the first. I think what happened to WRs last year could happen to RBs this year. And Wells could easily get out of the first. Who likes an injury prone power back with questionable toughness?

It's amazing Alphonso Smith can slip that far. If he was about 5-11, he could be a top 10/15 pick IMO. But his height could certainly push him down that far and that team will be very happy to say the least. I liked him at #17 for a while until we got Lito Sheppard..

I'm a Pitt fan and a LeSean McCoy fan, but I would rather go with Jarron Gilbert. Not that he should make it that far anyway, but if he did, it should be obvious. I also don't think McCoy makes it that far either. I really don't see the Browns passing on him right before us either. He was 198 pounds due to an illness though, so if he comes back with a solid Pro Day, he will still be an early 2nd round pick at worst IMO.

Surprised Evander Hood makes it that far too..

If you had went with Jarron Gilbert in the 2nd, that would have been a great couple rounds.

I'd be OK with Cody Brown. He's the situational pass rusher this team could use on 3rd downs if it isn't Gholston. Depth at the very least I suppose.

I don't think Chris Baker is much of a NT prospect. His size is deceiving because what he really does well is rush the passer. I know he played in a 3-4 in college, but I'd be a bit questionable of him in an NFL 3-4. I'd prefer Texas NT Roy Miller or Michigan's Terrence Taylor, who are both big and almost exclusively run defenders.

I'd wait on secondary depth since we look pretty good now with Leonhard and Sheppard around. I would swap a 4th round DB with an OL since we should begin thinking about the future since Damien Woody and Alan Faneca are getting up there in age and depth is a concern.

Did we get that 5th round pick from the trade with Detroit? We traded ours for Lito Sheppard don't forget.

Yeah, I have a gut feeling we pick a TE too..
Holy %$@#, I can't believe I just wrote that much about a single mock draft! But overall this was a very good read and a job well done even though it probably will take longer to read my post than yours...

Nice overall mock - you have Josh Freeman being drafted twice in the second.

I'd rather take Fresno's tight end Bear Pascoe over Morrah - Pascoe is probably the best blocking TE in the draft besides Pettigrew.

If the Jets took McCoy over Brown I'd not be happy.

Nah, his arm is just that good.

I'd agree with Pascoe and I like him as a late round prospect a lot, but it looks like we're going to sign blocking TE Billy Bajema, so we would need a receiving threat..

Dustin Keller is clearly our first option at tight end - he might be our most valuable receiver in 2009.

Billy Bajema looks like a #3 tight end -- strictly a blocker, subbing in during short yardage/goal-line situations.

Bear Pascoe is better receiver than most people think...over the past two seasons Pascoe's compiled 95 catches for 953 yards and 9 TDs. He definitely had the best hands on Fresno State and he uses his huge frame well to shield defenders.

The guy has poor timed speed, but in games, he can move for a guy his size. He can be a solid #2 option at tight end...used primarily as a blocker, but he's also a threat in the redzone and on block-and-release routes. His mediocre combine has pushed him down on a lot of boards -- right now, he's one of the more underrated prospects in this draft.

    LOVE the Jets draft.

    Nicks- Obvious reasons.
McCoy- Great RB who I think will fill out his body in the NFL.
Brown- Kid with a lot of potential, could be quite the young pair of OLBs.
Parson- I think Parson is one of the better Man to Man corners in the draft, good pick.

I actually really like this draft for a couple of reasons...I think us having a private workout with Mark Sanchez is a smoke screen, to show teams were interested so that teams want to trade up so we can trade down. The detroit trade might very well be possible. I also like that Detroit takes an offensive lineman with the first pick of the draft...Detroit has expressed many times they will either snag one of the dominant offensive lineman or aaron curry with the first pick of the draft. The reason? The chiefs have a quarterback now, so if they take an offensive lineman, they will have a good shot at trading up to get mark sanchez, or they are pretty much a lock to get josh freeman. By number 20, the 3 offensive lineman are off the board, and there left tackle position is still a mess.

I like our pick with Hakeem Nicks, however Gilbert or Tyson Jackson seem much more logical based on need. I think the 3rd round is where we show interested in a running back, or some offensive line depth. I really think we should look for a great right tackle in the 3rd round. I really like the Cody Brown pick in the 3rd, i think he's going to have a great transitino into the nfl. Overall, really good mock...

He can play T/G decently, and C good. Mack can play C GREAT. He is the best C prospect coming out of college since Mangold. No one will be drafting Unger to be playing T or G, they will draft him to play C.

To get back on topic, it is a good mock. I'm not high on Nicks as everyone else is. I don't think Brace will last to the second round, I don't think he will get past the Colts in the first. I'd rather grab Britt over Nicks

Lions, Rams, Browns and Jags all had nice drafts. I like the Rams, Niners and Lions quarterback/left tackle combinations. The Colts pick two wide receivers? I think they need at least a little day one help on defense.

You really think Ron Brace is a first round pick? I haven't heard anyone say that yet.

Yeah i figured since we are gonna sign Billy Bajema that would cover the blocking te we need, but Pascoe works too.

I edited it , i just made a last second adjustment and forgot to look at the 2nd receiver, they now draft a dt.

I pretty much picked McCoy over Gilbert because i think he will be a much better a player and have a much bigger impact for the offense.Thomas Jones had a great season last year but think about how much that had to do with Favre, with Favre gone the box is gonna be full so we need to bring another RB in to take pressure off the QB and be an eventual replacement for Jones.

Well Im not going to rant on about how I prefer Britt over Nicks. overall the draft is ok. I cant see Stafford not going number one. If we do go Nicks I would love McCoy fell but I doubt that. I think that you need to address a DB spot in the first three rounds. I also like the Parsons pick but Im not sure if he would be around that long

I mean I like the scenarios you have there. But do you really think Detroit would gamble only trading their 2nd pick to 17 in hopes Sanchez falls?

I think its probably a closer decision than you think i mean just 3 years ago everyone thought by this time last year that Reggie Bush would be a Texan but they ended up choosing Williams. It wasnt the popular pick but it was the right one. Detroit has to do everything in its power to have the best possible draft and if the means taking a gamble they should. Now saying that would i bet that they pick Smith over Stafford no, its just a possibility but i wouldnt be surprised if it happened.

I dont really see us spending 1st-3rd rounder on a DB unless their isnt really much available.Maybe if someone like Sean Smith or Patrick Chung fell to our spot at 52 and there wasnt a RB like McCoy or Brown or a DE like Gilbert there, then yeah maybe. As for the 3rd round out of all the CBs i see being available i like Parson the most so why not just get a steal and wait in the 4th which is in the range of where i see him being, a late 3rd-4th round prospect.
