I've read so much on this board about Nicks, Heyward-Bay, and Britt but people rarely talk about Harvin as a possibility at 17. Personally, I think having 2 weapons like Harvin and Leon on the field at the same time would be tough to defend. What does everyone think about Harvin?
Harvin isn't a good route runner, which imo means he will not be successful in the NFL. (i have the same opinion with DHB)
People always say that little RBs like Leon can't take the pounding of a full game, but what if you had two speed backs, like Leon and Percy and split the carries? It would at least be fun to watch.
IF I have to chose between Maclin or Harvin, easy choice of Maclin I still think Kenny Britt is the pick
One thing that will hurt Harvin's stock is the huge question mark in the durability category. He always seemed to be bothered by a different injury in college and has been hampered by a high ankle sprain as of late, an injury which tends to recur more frequently and severly each time you re-aggrivate it.
the jets really dont need harvin. we have a surplus of playmakers (Leon, Cotch, b. smith), what we lack is a big strong possession receiver that would be great in the red zone
I like Harvin, but this is one of my main issues with him and it's a big one. I wouldn't mind him if he dropped into the second, but I think he's going to be taken much higher due to his athleticism and game-breaking ability. The way I see it, we've already got our scat back and he'll never be the #1 reciever we need. There's no real reason to look at Harvin from a Jets POV. EDIT: As a WR, Harvin reminds me a lot of Ted Ginn Jr. coming out. I didn't think Ginn was worth anything above a mid-2nd rounder, and I feel the same way about Harvin. If utilized more as a scat back like Reggie Bush or Leon, I think he may flourish, but he needs to be in the right offense.
When I watch him, he doesn't look like he has the route-running prowess or strength that Steve Smith possesses. Harvin is lightening quick, but I don't know how much separation he'll really get - in running routes (not just Go patterns) - against the DBs at the next level.
yes, we do, you only realistically need one. Brad Smith will become dead weight with Harvin coming in. We have no possession or red zone threats like Larry Fitz., Burress, Antonio Gates, etc.
Hell no to Harvin at 17. Poor route running. He's another vastly over rated WR prospect. Nicks would be much better at 17 if we go WR. I'm hoping for defense still though. Srsly? How did so many people post after this and not one person make a witty comment about it? Such a great chance at comedy gold wasted.
Percy Harvin is another UF reciever (thanks to the Pats for wasting a pick on Chad Jackson a few yrs back). small, which i wouldnt mention as a knock but hes also INJURY PRONE. not to mention the system Urban Meyer runs is good and all for the college ranks, but its a complete gimick. its nothing but fly routes, reverses, qb sweep PA, and WR reverses. seriously id fuckin wanna punch someone if we drafted harvin.
