This is pretty much the way I feel. I like TO. He's got great skills, and he likes to win. But I don't think the current situation with the Jets is right for him, and he is not right for the Jets. Assuming the Qb comes from the current roster, bringing in TO could be a distraction. Not so much because he would demand it, but the media sure would.

T.O. with a run oriented team and a young QB. I don't think that adds up to anything but a giant headache. NO THANKS.

Run oriented????????????? With Thomas Jones and Leon Washington NO WAY. Better add a Brandon Jacobs type back for that to be succesful.

but at what cost? T.O is known for his "baggage" that he carries with him from team to team. He will chew up and spit out our QB (whoever that may be...it doesn't matter)....you know he will be in Rex Ryan's face....and chances are, he'll divide the lockeroom.

That's a hefty price to pay to have a "so-called" big time WR on our roster.......

I don't think you need to call him "so-called" big time to make your other point. He's definitely talented. But to his credit he's a give me the ball type player. The problem is that's potentially a problem for the way the Jets will be set up this year.

Exactly...Nobody questions his work ethic or will to win...The way he keeps himself in shape, he has another 2 seasons left, and he's 35!

I think he's a good, not GREAT receiver at this point...But he still would cause matchup problems, and still command double teams...

Just in the end, it ISN'T the right scenario here like you said...Just bad timing.

I'll give you that...the man is a talented athlete.....but he isn't Jerry Rice....and shouldn't be worth the time of day not only by the Jets...but the league...based on his behavior.

This is a team sport....and this guy is a glory hound....and is willing to throw his teammates under the bus for his own accolades. The "team sport" concept doesn't compute with T.O.....and he's shown that it never will.

I can't believe anybody on this board would seriously think that the Jets would or should sign TO. I am amazed. As has been already stated the fuckin Cowboys CUT HIM even though it will cost them 7 or 8 million against this year's cap. Jerry Jones is as insane as Al Davis is and HE CUT HIM (CAN YOU HEAR ME YET?). What does that tell you?

Huge mistake..Who's going to be throwing to him? Brett Ratliff? Kellen Clemens? T.O would put undue pressure on our young QB's by always DEMANDING the ball.

    Fail..

They will do fine with Stuckey/Clowney because of familiarity. They need another vet tho or they might trade up for a wr in the draft perhaps.

Something tells me they will go de/dt with their 1st, they might even trade up for sum 1 but that's another post.

I understand your point, but I have wondered over the course of his career how much of the heat and noise actually comes from the media looking for a story from him. Ftr I thought he was mostly right when he was in Philly, and for a time he was the team player people were asking of him in Dallas.

But, the media problem would be even worse here in NYC. Him coming here would be all some of our jackass reporters would need to create an instant circus, and with a likely young and developing Qb and a new HC, it's just too risky, even if he did not become a divisive presence on the team. He could be a problem even if he was a perfect teammate.

They actually SAVE like $680,000 Don...Or they lose $680,000...

Either way, less than a million either way, so it isn't that bad of a hit. He was going to cost them 7 or 8 million against this year's cap anyway.

How could I guess that this thread would be started by jtrain???

Owens? Not that it would ever happen, but it's just such a stupid-ass idea.

Oh, my GOD. HAHAHAHA! Great way to start off a day when I'll be leaving work as early as possible. Maybe I'll even to pretend to work once I get there, too - but not before doing push ups in my driveway in catsuit.

But he WON'T be there to play. They are losing it all. All 8 million. I don't know if they tried to trade him or not but think about this. If they did then there wasn't a single team in the NFL that would take him on for even a 7th round draft pick..think about that.
