I don't see Nicks that far down in the WR rankings. Of course, what does that mean really? All too many top WRs weren't first round picks..

"3. Everette Pedescleaux, Northern Iowa (6-6, 305)" -I've seen this name a couple times, but I know nothing of him. Can you fill me in? I didn't know he was this highly rated of a prospect..

I don't know, PA, they caught me by surprise with that one too :eek:hmy:

I'll have to look into it because TNP is very good, but that guy was totally off my radar too

Having Shonn Greene ahead of Shady is down right crazy. Vontae Davis in 4th is a bit of a surprise. Nice to see Sean Smith rated high!!

Strong possibility the Jet's looking at DE in Rd 1.....something tells me that Rex will want to throw Schotty a bone and get him a WR in RD 1...just my gut feeling....now that Coles is a goner.

Anyone think we'd have the chance to grab Gilbert in round 2, or will he be gone by then?

I was projecting Gilbert to the Jets in RD 2 around month ago, ironically when that seemed like a reach, and even right before the combines I still thought it might be possible even though I knew Gilbert was rising fast, but now I would say its close to impossible

The only reason I don't say impossible without qualifying it is because I suppose anything is possible, but in reality I think the likelyhood of Jarron Gilbert being on the board for the Jets in RD 2 is about as likely as Aaron Curry being on the board for the Jets at 17

In other words its as close to impossible as it gets

IMO Gilbert will be a first round round pick

I don't know where in round one, but I think he'll be off the board before RD 2 kicks off

I think if you really want Gilbert and we don't trade down or acquire anymore picks, I think you have to consider whether or not you want him at 17 Overall, because IMO that's the only place you'll have a shot

I definitely think it's possible that he will be there at our 2nd rounder. I wouldn't be shocked if he was taken at the end of the first either though.

I am doing a post-combine Interactive Mock Draft like the one on here but on a different board and at the 2nd round pick both Gilbert and Hood were available (- went with Gilbert.)

I think the Steelers could take Gilbert at the bottom of the 1st, or the Chiefs, Browns, Packers, 49ers, Dolphins or Cowboys could before us in the 2nd. But if he manages to get through those picks without being drafted like in the IMD, he should be a member of the Gang Green.

Great Pick for you in RD 2 , probably the steal of that mock draft, but I don't believe it will happen in real life

The more I think about, the more I see this as a possibility: Jarron Gilbert to the Chargers at #16.

Seems extremely high, but there are always surprises on draft day and I think he has a chance to soar up some team's draft boards and go higher then some are expecting.. Connor Barwin is in that same category IMO..

Nicks may be the most sure thing outside of Crabtree, but lacks the elite upside that the guys ahead of him have. That said he would be my second rated guy because if I'm drafting a WR high I want a guy who is going to produce and as soon as possible. Nicks will.

I agree with you on that. He seems like about as much of a sure thing as there is in the NFL draft.

However, I don't think he has limited upside..

Great observation, PA .. I agree that Barwin is probably going higher than his consensus projection as well

I think Barwin is another kid who is slowly creeping up towards RD 1

If Barwin jumps up, Larry English may fall. He is gonna be good in this league.

If, say, the Jets were stuck on Gilbert and wanted to throw Schotty a bone, wouldn't Robiskie in the second be a great fit? Accomplished and professional and a good blocker, so he would aid our running game as well.

This is just one iteration of what I see as a virtual lock: WR and DE, in either order, in rounds one and two. Virtual lock, that's really my way of saying: this is how I, and I alone, see it.

They have Clay Matthews listed ahead of Brian Cushing and I'm starting to suspect that Matthews will be drafted ahead of Cushing. Matthews had better combine numbers and there are no rumors swirling around him. I would be happy with Matthews as the Jets pick at 17, before the end of his rookie season he would replace Bryan Thomas at OLB and would be a quality backup at ILB.
