An interesting player to keep track of, he got the 2nd round tender from the saints, but the saints are very close to the cap, and still looking to sign a FB and probably 2 DBs, so a team willing to drop a second and give him a decent contract could steal him. Teams that come to mind.. Patriots, Jets, Giants, Dolphins and Jags

    He's a good player but I don't know if it's worth a 2nd.

Ironically he reminds me a lot of Wes Welker, who the Pats got for a 2nd

He's a solid possession receiver, but a 2nd? Too high.

However you may feel about Austin, Moore isn't the answer opposite Cotchery. He's already our possession receiver. We need a big fast threat.

I think he is as good, if not better then Cotchery is atm. I think the guy is a bargain at that price. He has produced at a nfl level, he is 25 and a 2nd round pick is a unknown. If Cotchery can't step up, he deserves to be bumped down the food chain.

Moore was successful because he was lined up with Marques Colston and Devery Henderson. Give Cotchery a solid deep threat and we can compare them.

I like Lance Moore. I relied on him in fantasy because of injuries, and this watched him play an awful lot. Great undersized, hard working possession guy. Not a complement to what we have and not worth a 2nd as an upgrade to Cotchery. That last idea baffles me.

Don't know where you got the idea he's a possession receiver. Maybe you're thinking of the other UDFA that starts for New Orleans under Drew Brees direction (tangent: tell me QBs don't matter).

LaMo is reported to have a 40 time in the 4.4s, did plenty of time as a KR/PR, has an 11.7 ypc average over his career, and compliments the big converted TE, Colston, well enough to be his #2.

Alas, he reminds me a lot of Stuckey, so I don't advocate picking him up anytime soon. Our problem is we have an average height possession receiver in Cotch, and we all want that burner and tall-guy role to be filled with the same guy. That's the type of guy that usually needs to be drafted in the 1st round...or have the initials KB.

despite all the comparisons to Wes wlker, which are accurate in terms of his quick feet and explosion, moore is much faster down the field, sure he isn't you ideal randy moss guy due to his size, but there are plenty of small guys who are deep threats, steve smith and santana moss come to mind. he isn't on the level of those guys, but he's young with good hands, above average speed and great quickness.

Probably a moot point now, as the Saints aren't quite as tight against the cap as they were, so they have the money to match

I got the idea from watching how he was used this season. He had a couple of explosive plays, but for the most part, he was their possession receiver. He's not the burner. That's Devery Henderson. He makes plays by getting separation underneath. That's why in half his games this season, he averaged fewer than 10 yards per catch. Welcome to the new NFL, when a team's possession receiver doesn't have to be a big, slow guy. Look at Welker. Again, what we need is a deep threat.

Oh, and if that "other UDFA" is Colston...he was drafted. 7th round, but still drafted.

Ouch, that's what I get for late night posting on the fly with a full belly and an empty head:eek:hmy:

He may have been used that way, but I still say he can also be the burner in another offense due to his speed. 4.4s vs. Welker's 4.6. I just don't think pigeonholing him as a possession guy is commensurate with his abilities.

He's fast, sure, but being 5'9" still means it's tough to get enough separation on vertical routes. He was successful on a few deep balls when teams underestimated his speed. Because of his tendency to run quick, short routes, the Saints occasionally let him fly when a corner began to press too much and the safety was pulled off of coverage. That's when he can burn you. As a consistent deep threat, though, he's too easily taken out of his game. He was used quite well by NO last season, and I was very impressed with him. I'm just not sure he can succeed in the other capacity. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong on this one, though. I do like the guy.
