Williams, Reggie WR UFA 6-4 212 5th Season JAC Yes, he may be suspended for four games this season, but he is still a good receiver and he may be cheap with the suspension looming. "NFL | Police and courts: WR Reggie Williams Fri, 27 Feb 2009 17:00:27 -0800 The Canadian Press reports free-agent WR Reggie Williams (Jaguars) was arrested early Friday, Feb. 27, and faces DWI and marijuana possession charges. Both are misdemeanors. Officers smelled marijuana during a routine traffic stop. " http://www.kffl.com/player/9285/nfl He has great size with above average speed. He might not be TJ but he would be better than all but one of our receivers. I like Clowney, but until he has some games under his belt we won't know if he can be a starter. Also a young QB would like nothing better than a BIG target, which he is.
red zone guy is cute, but the team needs more than that.. what would you say about the 3 TDs last year?? you're a stats guy aren't you?
Always been some what of a fan of his. Has a ton of ability but drops to many passes. If they could get him dirt cheap he may be worth it.
Correct me if I'm wrong; didn't the Jags have one of the worst receiving corps in the league last year?
1) He's a good receiver but he's not quite a number 1 receiver. He's more of a nice number 2. Overall, he's a less consistent (but possibly more talented) version of Cotchery. We need a true number 1. Not a less-consistent version of Cotch. 2) He's got great size and decent speed but he drops A LOT of passes. 3) He's been Jacksonville's number 1 receiver for years now and they have easily had one of the most pedestrian passing games in the NFL during this time-span. pass
He couldn't find time to play in Jacksonville last year. Matt Jones and Dennis Northcutt played. He's a bad receiver. I wouldn't mind inviting him to camp, but when you're slow and can't catch too well, there's a lot of problems there.
kinda shittin on Cotch there. Hes bigger than Cotch, thats it. Hes nowhere near as talented or as tested as Cotch. Potential means nothing, show me what hes done on the field
Sign him for the minimum and let him compete in camp. Maybe the change of scenery does him some good. Another red zone option could also help.
Absurd statement. He's a good player and so is Cotchery. I agree that Cotchery is a better receiver. But Williams is very talented and has put up some good numbers. To say that he has "no where near as much talent" or is no where near as "tested" as Cotchery is to say that you don't know much about Williams. He's a good player but he's just not a number 1 receiver and The Jets need a number 1 receiver. And I'll write it again so there is no confusion: Reggie Williams is a less consistent, less productive version of Cotchery. (i.e. Jerricho Cotchery > Reggie Williams) But to make Cotchery out to be leagues better than Williams is more than just a stretch, it's silly. Cotchery is a very good number 2 receiver but I'm sure we both agree he isn't a bonified number 1.
