LOL you like to attack everything I say to try and discredit me. That is because he hasn't started any game since he is stuck behind Terrell Suggs. He was kept around in Baltimore because he showed a knack for getting to the QB, if I find source I will post it, just for you.
I guess you can say I have a...knack...for it. Don't say a guy has a knack for getting after the QB, when he's never started a game and he has two sacks in his entire NFL career. That's false - so I called you out.
"Antwan Barnes was a second-day draft pick, but the rookie linebacker has impressed the Ravens' front office and coaching staff with his pass-rushing ability and his hustle. Barnes has been so proficient at getting to the quarterback that he has joined the first-team defense on obvious passing downs." http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2007/08/qa_with_antwan_barnes.html That wasn't my original source, but I think you might get the gist.
You're right, I guess he is lying that Barnes impressed the coaches with his pass rushing ability and his hustle and earned a spot on the first team on obvious passing downs....it's not like reporters talk to the coaches and the player he is interviewing, since the article is after all an interview with Barnes.
OK young man, please put down the sarcasm, you're not old enough to use it properly. First of all, if you'll take a look at who posted this "article," it's some butt-nut intern who covers high school football for the Baltimore Sun. Second: no, this "reporter" did not "talk" to the coaches and player he is interviewing. He's some chode who stood in the back of the room and transcribed other reporters questions and the ensuing answers. And third, most importantly, the post date on this article is August 17th, 2007. That means that two full seasons have passed since you uncovered this breaking news, sport. His first season, Barnes had two sacks. His second season, Barnes had none and only 14 tackles. If you're going to steal other people's opinions, at least steal RECENT opinions.
I did state that this was not the original source I had but this was what I found I my search looking for that source. I never said it was breaking news, but the fact remains that Barnes is an explosive player and would make a nice addition to the Jets. For whatever reason he played less in 2008 than he did in 2007, but that doesn't change what he brings to the table. And the part of the article I quoted wasn't opinionated by the writer but instead informative and factual. It was not giving his view of Barnes but instead the coaches'.
Curry will go in the top five. In the unlikely event that we can get him without trading up then I would have no problem with the pick. Anyone else at OLB would not be a good use of the pick.
...informative and factual? Barnes has 2 career sacks -- stop trying to make him out as some kind of ungodly force on the football field. I was just trying to point out that you overrate almost every single player that you draft or sign in your silly little MOCK off-season: 1. You called Leigh Bodden a top five man-to-man corner...c'mon...like two teams have shown interest in him. Do you know something that the other 30 teams don't? 2. You're basically saying Barnes is on the same level as DeMarcus Ware, when in reality, he's just a backup with a nice forty time.
At no point did I say Barnes was anything like DeMarcus Ware - I am saying that he is a skilled pass rusher and would help us in our pursuit of getting after the QB on passing downs. You underrate him because he doesn't get much PT but you neglect to mention he is 2nd string to Terrell Suggs - Michael Turner didn't produce all that much when he was behind LT either. While I'm not saying that he will produce like Turner on a new team, I am saying that he is a skilled football player that would make a nice addition to this football team. As for Bodden I still maintain that he is a Top 5 CB when it comes to straight man coverage. Bodden is coming off a down year - every Lion except for Calvin is coming off a bad year for the Lions. He will also want a bigger contract than other CBs on the market and he sort of has a slight bit of a Prime Time attitude. He will get signed by a team and I wouldn't be shocked at all if it was the Pats.
