i like where the D is headed, now its time to get the leader behind center and keep the offense simple.

Great stuff! Our defense is gonna rip people apart next year. Didn't realize Sheppard was only 27. What a steal IMO.

Can anybody explain to me why, exactly, Mangini/Sutton were so fond of NOT pressuring the QB in 3rd and long situations? These 3 man-rushes were awful. When every other team sent everything after the QB on 3rd and long, the Jets sent as little as possible. It's so great we're done with that regime on D.

I'm wondering what this board will be like when we do see a 3 man rush at some point this season.

I don't think it'll happen all that often. From watching a couple of the Ravens games last years, even though they were running a "3-4", they often times had 5 guys as down linemen, and 8 total in the box. A conservative rush from Baltimore was 5 guys, not any less than that. There were a few plays where they rushed 4, but it also usually involved a stunt of some sort, and someone crashing one side of the line while the zone coverage was slightly to the other side. This defense will look nothing like it did this past year.

Buddy's going to be in the facility, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a lot of input throughout this process. :jets:

He liked to overload a side of the line and just come. But his guys knew how to blitz. Jet rushers never looked like they did.

the scary truth is that this team has no true sack master. The scheme might create opportunities, but none of our LBs can create opportunities on their own.

If there was ever one Jets LB that always looked like he was going to get a sack it was Barton.

I love the idea of moving Harris and Scott around. Guess Belichick is adding some more video cameras to his arsonal. He'll have plenty to watch!
The HITMAN & the MADBACKER!! Add Pace's pass rushing ability into the mix and we got the foundation to be 1 of the top LB units in the NFL!

Last two seasons I've been so disappointed at how Pittsburgh and Baltimore used different blitzes to attack the QB...And now maybe, just maybe our blitzes won't be so plain and ordinary.

well, when Bob "Depends Pants" Sutton is your DC and Eric "the Vagina" Mangini is your HC... your blitzing schemes can't be anything scary or imaginative.
