I was thinking of this same exact image when I was reading some holier than thou thread in the TT forum by some Keeper poster... fits a few of them to a T. :breakdance::lol:
Denver has truly pissed Cutler off. Hos agent has asked for permission to talk to other clubs (which they refused to give). They have made a mess and it will be interesting to see how they clean it up. And in the meantime NE has 4 of the first 58 picks. They will rebuild their team entirely in this year's draft. What else is new?
Jake Plummer was a similar quality QB for them from 2003 to 2005. Then he had the off year in 2006 and got in Shanahan's doghouse and they traded him (or tried to). Cutler is one off year away from getting traded also. The new Denver management was just being proactive in trying to upgrade QB when a reasonably talented QB was on the market to do it.
Hard to tell if Cassell is an upgrade after one year. Especially with the receivers NE has. It will be interesting to see what he does without them.
We should be on top of this Cutler thing. Filling the QB spot with a quality starter is the most important thing right now, and it's all that's keeping us from being a Super Bowl team right now.
Put Cutler on a team with a defense - imagine the possibilities. For those who compare him to Favre with the interceptions, at least Favre won a superbowl. Our last superbowl was when? The Denver coach is an idiot. News: Denver and Detroit have engaged in trade talks regarding Cutler, MLive.com reports. From ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9597 Spin: The Lions were trying to acquire Matt Cassel in order to flip him to Denver on Saturday in exchange for Cutler, but that deal died when Cassel landed in Kansas City. However, sources say that their is still talk between the two sides about a possible deal involving Cutler packing his bags for the Motor City. It's unclear where these talks currently are, but it seems that there is still chatter between the two franchises.
I don't get why everyone is on this guy's ass for making this thread. I heard the same story on sports radio last night. People want to talk about football....Jets football. Getting players that may be available that would better the team is something we all want...no? There should be standards on who is born, but we don't see forced abortion either. Unfortunately some of those failed abortions end up posting here. Cut the guy some slack already...geez.
Because this is just one of many, "Hey this guy is available, should we sign him?" threads. I'd venture to say that we have one player who is the best in the NFL at his respective position, Mangold. So does that mean EVERY time a player is available that is an upgrade to what we've got that we're going to make a thread about it? Is it feasible to think that the Jets will have 22 All Pros on their roster? Here is the word of the day.....Perspective. Have some perspective on what is and is not possible, probable or out right ridiculous. Quit posting, asking whether or not we should sign this guy or that guy just because he's "available" or "unhappy". That's not Jets news. That's a wish list. Post it in the bullshit forum cause it has nothing to do with the Jets. This forum is inundated with topics that have absolutely no merit. It's the off-season, there's going to be a lot of information coming in and going out. I personally don't want to spend a half hour sifting through all the bullshit just to find real news on here. That's the problem. IMO.
QB is a legitimate need right now, and so is WR. We're doing a great job of revamping our defense, but I feel we're neglecting the offense. It's not absurd to want our FO to try and get their hands on quality available offensive players.
Nobody knows what the thinking is but IF the Jets are planning on using their first pick (#17) for a QB then it would certainly make more sense to try and trade that pick for Cutler..at least that's what I think.
I absolutely agree with that statement. A known value is greater then an unknown value. Agree 100%. However, who's going to pay his salary? Are we letting Leon go since we can't afford to re-sign him after locking Cutler up with $8-10 mil a year? Look at the big picture.
There's a simple solution I have for you. Don't click the link! All your doing is trolling at this point. What he's saying is technically relevant even if unlikely. I don't mind the "Sign this guy" threads until there's people like you complaining about them. If you don't want to read it, don't f----ing read it and leave well enough alone. The forum is just "New York Jets" not necessarily news. Can be news, speculation, WISHFUL THINKING, etc. If you have to sit for half an hour to read a couple lines that say "We should sign this guy", then you should probably be ordering your copy of Hooked on Phonics by now.
cutler is pretty good, but seriously what it would cost to get him here is not worth it, were setup going into this draft with a beyond solidified defense, its time to boost the offense and pick up a defensive player at DE/LB for depth. point blank. no more draft picks should be traded unless were bringing in someone the likes of Boldin. sign Ivy, Leonhard, and a TE (LJ Smith, or Robert Royal) and our FA splash is complete. time to build with the second part of equation, the draft.
I disagree about the Boldin statement. Boldin is older and injury prone. He also plays a position much easier to fill. If they cost the same in trade value, I without a doubt go with Cutler.
Cutler is a good QB but I think he's a real asshole, doesnt seem like much of a team guy. And I loved when he said he has a stronger arm than Elway ever did. Whether its true or not...STFU kid...Elway was Elway and you havent done shit in the NFL. That division can now be known as the douch-iest collection of QB's in the league. Cutler, Rivers, Cassell, Russell...I cant believe out of all those guys I like a Raiders QB the most.
