I really think the Jets are going to take a QB (Sanchez/Freeman) at 17 and then trade back into the late 1st round to take Britt/Nicks.

In the last 3 years, the Jets have traded up in the 1st/2nd round to get the guys they want and they've all worked out (Mangold/Revis/Harris/Keller). If Tanny wants a guy, he'll go get him.

We got some of our pieces in place and with Leonhard and Ivy expected to sign most likely this weekend we still need a receiver and i like what Nicks brings and from what i've seen from him in college he has some outstanding hands and playmaker ability, If he's there at 17 we should get him.

Fitz and Boldin are both very fast, just not 40 time fast (which doesn't matter)

if we are going to take a skill player...then i hope it is a wr (not necessarily Nicks though)
ideal for me: sign a vet wr and draft one in rd 1 or 2

I didn't say anything about signing a big name guy, did I? The WRs in 2010 are much better than 2009.

Braylon Edwards may become a free agent - especially with Mangini in Cleveland.

Fitzgerald, Jennings, Hester, and Marshall should be franchised if new deals aren't worked out.

Maurice Stovall, Vincent Jackson, Arnaz Battle, and Chris Chambers should all be available.

Not Nicks, why not? He's the most NFL ready out of all of the receivers in '09's wideout class.

He's got the best hands...by far -- and -- he's the most physical.

And does Nicks remind anyone else of Cotchery? A little?

i graduated from UNC in December....still in the area
lets just say...I've seen every game he's ever played at UNC
and while i think he has the potential to be incredible...and as alumni I love to see UNC players do well...i just am not sold on the work ethic and consistency...i tend to be hard on players from UNC though
in all fairness though...he hasn't had a qb his whole career and has still put up numbers
I still think better value is available at 17
now...trading down with someone moving up to grab...lets say Freeman...to the early twenties...then i think his value fits a little better

Yeah, he does a bit. I was looking around on some NFL Draft websites, and I came across the same comparision on WalterFootball.com. Here it is:

Vincent Jackson is the only name i'd like from the 4 you listed...and i can't imagine the chargers not being able to give him the deal he wants
...I think we can find a decent wr in the draft and through FA
Drew Bennett, Joey Galloway, Darrell Jackson, DJ Hackett are respectable vet WR signings after the market clears and cools

I knew he was kidding...so was I. The trade for Vince Young thread is the worst thing I've read all day.

...not just a little, a lot. Nicks is a lot like Boldin and Cotchery -- also both were ACC receivers, like Nicks.

No. The first two picks will be on D. CB, LB, DE. Outside chance at an RB.

If you are paying attention, Ryan is trying to build a team where the defense will outscore the offense.

No QB, no WR. That includes free agency too.
