Do we try to pitch for Igor or Canty? Tomorrow Leonhard should be signed. Ivy will hardly cost much. And we now got our CB in Lito. So we should have room for Canty and then come draft time we go WR (hopefully Maclin) 1st round and basically BPA after that or a RB or a d-lineman for depth.
I wouldn't be surprised if we sign a DE like Marques Douglas or Anthony Weaver, two veteran DEs who have experience under Ryan.
Well at the moment Canty is probably the best available DE (FA) so I think his stock is going to sky rocket and it looks like he could be vastly overpaid. But I do like Igor as a suitor, like Ivy he comes at a cheap price
for some reason i really like canty. i think he would fit in nicely. i think were set at RB for at least another year, who knows what were getting at qb right now but i really think we have to find a WR, i no i can get heat for this but does harrison really sound that bad if we can get him for really cheap for a one year deal. just to see if one of our guys we have now can step up or give time to develop a draft pick
Wide receiver is a much more pressing need. At DE, we really just need a solid veteran to plug a hole.
I'm thinking all these FA Def moves is making the the Qb argument moot.. I don't think they're expecting the offense to be the strength of this team. I wonder how BShotts will handle the new reality of his offense now being a sideshow to the defense.
I'm not going to lie, I was hoping we would grab Jabari Greer instead of Ivy...but I would LOVE if we go Igor. Canty is great, and our cap space allows us some flexibility, but Igor has more value at the cheap price we might be able to get him for.
Now that we addressed the CB position, we can go WR, DE, RB (I really like Donald Brown as I think we will slide fall back into the early to mid 3rd round). However, I'm not really that fond of the RB class this year, so I would much rather get a guy like Beckwith, J Phillips, or another MLB to fill the depth at the line backer from the guys we cut. Were for sure set with Thomas Jones for AT LEAST another year...
well i dont think Ivy would have prevented the signing of Greer. That said, if the deal for Lito falls through, Greer would be a solid backup plan.
i think we will sign a vet like weaver and a lower tier wr (dj hackett/darrell jackson/etc) to cover our bases before the draft...that way we can go best available and address both positions whenever they best fit into our draft as it unfolds
